Beware--Bait and Switch
by Robert Gates (3 out of 5 stars)

This camera was advertised as being able to store 80 images on the internal memory. According to the manufacturer's website the memory was 128MB. And reviewers here have said the camera can store 150-200 images. So imagine my surprise when I bought it for my grandson for Christmas and it would only store 40-50 images before the internal memory was full. So I hooked it up to the computer and found that it had only 28MB. I contacted the maker (Digital Blue) and was told that it now ships with only 28MB and that they would update the website--which they have now done. The Amazon description still says "up to 80 photos."

It is really a pretty good camera for a little kid. Simple to use and while the images aren't great, they are ok. The child needs to learn to hold still when taking the photo, and to pay attention to the lighting. And as others say, beware the super flash. What is really great is that it charges from a USB cable rather than using batteries.

I got a small amount back from Amazon for the misleading description and decided to keep it. I'll update my review after my grandson has a go with it.

Not As Advertised
by SusanL (1 out of 5 stars)

I bought two for two grandchildren age 3 and 5. Both kids have taken pictures with their parents' iPhones and know how to frame a picture, hold the camera still and snap the picture. I should have bought them real cameras.

The camera is advertised to hold 80 pictures; it does not hold anything close to that. One holds 12 and no more and the other 50. Worse yet, when you delete a photo on the camera, it does not free up disk space; you need to delete the photos (even the "deleted" ones) when connected to a computer to create space for additional photos. In addition the camera takes terrible pictures. One of the cameras was used; there were at least 10 pictures of another family on the camera and my grandson was only able to take two additional pictures before the camera was out of memory for additional pictures.

Finally, most toddlers know how to use their parents' smart phones and iPads. The controls on the camera are primitive, non-intuitive and hard to use. Whoever designed them doesn't understand how kids manipulate electronic devices.

I have nothing good to say about the cameras. I am returning both to Amazon.

Fabulous gift for my niece & godson!
by Josephine (5 out of 5 stars)

The pros: Colourful, cute, USB port for transferring pictures, great for little hands, functioning camera, unique design.

The cons: Picture quality poor; will trigger fights among the kids unless they all have one!

I purchased one each for my godson and niece, for their third birthday, and both enjoy theirs tremendously. Their fathers are almost as enthusiastic over these cameras as they were; daddy got to play with them first! Their mothers are compiling online albums of the pictures they took. Something for them to look back on; it is so lovely to see what catches a child's eye. There was a wedding picture of my sister and brother in law taken by their 3 year old (from a great distance down because she was so short!) and for some reason that brought a tear to my eye. You could also find hidden spots of talent, and gain a window into your child's mind; his likes and dislikes and what interests him.

I would highly recommend these cameras for function, beauty & its unique qualities. Even though the picture quality wasn't great, you really can't expect too much out of what is essentially a toy for a toddler. The pictures were acceptable if you are not expecting DSLR quality. Buy this!

Nice camera for a young child
by Michael (3 out of 5 stars)

Summary: fantastic body (Lego design) with only the important functions and does what it is supposed to. Picture quality not great though.

My son got this camera for St. Nicholas (in the morning) when he had just turned 4. That same evening he knew how to turn it on and off, how to turn on and off the flash (which is way too bright!), how look at pictures and how to delete them. Within the first days he had taken more than 100 pictures. He really loves it and since it is not overloaded with stuff that is not related to photography it is really great for small kids.

However, the hardware makes me wonder. Where do they get 24MB of memory from? There is no memory card slot and after about 42 pictures there is no space left for further pictures. It is a pinhole camera that does not need any focusing but the pictures do not get that sharp anyway. And because there is not much light coming through the lens the exposure time is pretty long which means the kids need to learn how to hold the camera still. The shutter lag is also pretty long which results in a lot of blurred pictures - because my son thinks the picture was already taken. It also needs to be formatted quite regularly (you'll know when only a hand full of pictures fit on the memory).

If my son still likes taking pictures by the time he turns 5 he will get a cheap compact camera. He will then have learned the basics.

Kids love it!
by Sebastian Shin (4 out of 5 stars)

First, if you thought if this camera would be disassemble, you are wrong.

This camera is not disassembled. This is just one unit with 3 small lego blocks.

My kids love to play with it but not always. They sometimes pick this up and take some shots. That's it. After a few das, they played with it again.

Control is so easy. Just turn it on and push the shot button.

Regarding to the picture quality;

It is ok without flash.

It is not good with flash. The flash light is so strong, almost pictures with flash light are white.

So I don't recommend taking picture with this camera at night.

Fun Lego camera for children
by C. M. Stephens (3 out of 5 stars)

Very colorful, holds 60 pictures. It would be nice to be able to delete the ones you want instead the camera goes back to the beginning and you have to forward the pictures to delete the ones you do not want. Also I would have preferred batteries instead of having to plug into the computer every time it needs to be charged. The charge doesn't last long enough. Better directions with the camera with more descriptions as with the errors, the camera has an exclamation mark in red, don't know what it means. It has a red SDHC card with a circle and line through it, don't know what it means. Pictures are dark and grainy.

Complete garbage
by Matt W (1 out of 5 stars)

Calling this camera garbage is actually a disservice to real garbage, but I presume profanity is not allowed in reviews. This camera is the worst product ever. Bought it as a birthday gift for my 6-year-old son. Since it has an internal battery that charges through the USB connection I opened the package to charge the battery before gift wrapping it. The plastic clamshell package had to be destroyed with scissors to get it open (I would later regret this). Camera charged up and seemed to function fine, so I wrapped it up and gave it to my son the next day. He was excited, and proceeded to take 6 or 7 pictures. Then he shut it off. It has never restarted. Now it only gives 3 short beeps when pressing the power button or plugging it in. No useful troubleshooting information available from digiblue (the manufacturer). We never even got the pictures off of it to judge the quality. Total useful lifespan of this product was about 10 minutes. A box of rocks is a better value for your $40. It remains to be seen if I can return without the original packaging, if so, kudos to Amazon, but still DON"T BUY THIS CAMERA.

Just because it's for kids doesn't mean it has to be terrible
by Jeffrey Stern (1 out of 5 stars)
December 26, 2012

Pros: It's bright and colourful so the Dudeling likes it.

Cons: Insultingly bad for the price. The kind of bad that will turn him off to taking pictures. $35 for a lens that's envious of a Cracker Jacks prize? $35 for 25MB of storage? Is this 1993? Of course the picture quality is as miserable as you'd expect. Responsiveness is pathetically slow, so capturing any type of image seen on the viewscreen is impossible. No, I don't expect him to be a little photographer, but it would be worth it if the one out of a hundred pics that were reasonably framed, lighted, etc. were worth looking at quality-wise.

It's $35 for the Lego name and some bright colours. You're also paying for a big insult to your child--one of those things where they figure it's for kids so screw quality. I guess Lego figured they'd be the ones to teach him his Christmas Story/Decoder Ring or his Inherit the Wind/Golden Dancer lesson.

A great first camera

I guess I don't understand all the people complaining about poor photo quality... what do you expect for a kids' toy? We just turned the flash off, and the pictures are adorable. It's so easy, my four year old has no problems using it, the battery stays charged for a long time, and it's easy to download the pictures onto the computer. My daughter absolutely loves it. I recommend getting a case for it, though, especially for little kids.

poor product DO NOT BUY IT
by Buena Homes (1 out of 5 stars)

seriously, do not buy it, the screen is a bad poor resolution, I will say to the Lego Company to stick making bricks and stay away from making digital cameras, this camera is the very worse there is in digital cameras, I even noticed that a $7 disposable camera works better!!! do yourself a favor buy another product, and to top-off the camera its too expensive for the quality that's. Bad, poor, obsolete technology, this camera reminded me of my first digital camera I once bought in Wall mart back in 2000, very poor quality.
