... to a hose from the house) and have been pleased with the resultsby K. Browder (4 out of 5 stars)

I've used more traditional misting fans in the past (feeding to a hose from the house) and have been pleased with the results. Even in the humid southeast it's nice to bring a bit of temporary cooling to an outside space like a deck on a hot day. But having to wrangle a hose and turn off/on water from the faucet can be tedious depending on the particular location. With this you sacrifice a couple key features (oscillation, sheer misting volume/area) for the sake of portability and ease of use.
For my particular need it was a worthwhile trade-off. We have a small deck off our master bedroom that's my favorite part of the house. But running a hose up 12' to run a traditional misting fan (plus run up/down stairs to turn water on/off) would be cumbersome and probably overkill for such a small area. This fit the bill perfectly and helps cool the space where our two chairs sit to make it tolerable in everything but direct midday/afternoon sun. If we know we're going to be using it for more than an hour or so I'll plan ahead and bring a pitcher of water so as to refill it once the tank runs out. The rest of the time the fan resides in a closet. If Soleus only made an attractive hardened/squared covering that could double as a pseudo end-table so that it could simply stay outside it would be perfect.
APLUS I love it!

Get it. I live in Arizona and it is saving mine and my dogs lives already. It is ready to go out of box. It takes about a gallon of water. The water lasts for a reasonable amount of time. We turn it on when we take the dogs out and off when we come in. If we are here all day I might fill it twice. Love not worrying about the hose. It's really great and can't believe the great price.
Does exactly what it is supposed to do!

Just received this fan. Removed it from the box, added water, and was amazed. It's extremely quiet and pushes out cold air. We're using it outside by our dining table and couldn't be happier with our purchase.
Cool, baby!

What a terrific item to cool us on our back porch in Florida. Love that it doesn't require a hose hookup. It doesn't oscillate but that's the only negative.

I bought this two years ago and it is the best money spent for my small condo patio. My indoor a/c was not working well this past HOT holiday weekend and I turned it on in the living room with low misting. Kept my room at 70 degrees.
Work great in hot restaurant kitchen, but need frequent refill.

I want to put this fan in my restaurant kitchen! I used to have the mist nozzles installed on the ceiling but even with the fine mist, eventually the floor will get wet and of course slippery. The nozzles can get clogged up too even with the inline filter that can NOT stop calcium built up from hard water (I do have the water softener system but it can do so much).
I looked for the fan and decided not to get the one with the nozzles because the above reasons. This spinning disc design seemed appealing so I ordered it. I have been using the unit for several months and like it. The single speed is just right but if possible more speed selections will be nice. The best feature is the adjustable spray switch which works fine for me at about half point setting. The water reservoir is somewhat small and the location where I installed I can't just pour the water to refill into the small drawer in the back, so I use the water hose connect to the faucet to refill which only take less than a minute.
The specification doesn't say how much water it will shoot out but claims 25 gallon/day. I found out that at full setting, the water will run out in 35-40 minutes but at mid point is about 1 hour.
Sometime when I turn it on, the unit makes a funny noise like grinding motor but it goes away in less than 20 seconds and never comes back in the session.
I rated this 4 star because the small water tank and I have to refill it often but it does the job in the hot kitchen.
Make sure you set it on the level floor, otherwise when you fill it up especially when face down a little like mine, the water will overflow before the water level indicator says FULL.
