Envy of the neighborhood -- LIke a playing card in the spokes but louder

We put a playing card in the spoke on our son's bike to make the motorcycle sound as the kids in the neighborhood were squishing old water bottles in their tires. However, our son can be a bit oblivious to other park goers. After nearly running the same senior citizen over three times with me yelling at him, she called out laughing, "Don't worry I am watching out for Wild Child!" We bought this and it is like a playing card but a stiffer plastic with a little bit of amplification. It does make a difference in sound and is indeed louder. He has become the envy of the little boys in the neighborhood. The assembly process is easy but my son's 12 inch tire BMX Mongoose has a thicker frame. His bike is also really small and it did require some jockeying in order to get it to work. If it had been a bigger kid's bike then it would have worked better. It does not take batteries as it works off the playing card principle. I would buy this again but would suggest that you have someone mechanically inclined to help in case you need to jokey it as well. UPDATE: We took our son to a park packed with people. This was about 4-5 times louder than a playing card and indeed work well to keep people aware of his presence. Even people with headphone seemed to get the warning... I would say it worked great for our intended purpose, which was to give people a chance to hear him coming.

Bmx turbospoke for kids

My son loves it! It's a modernized spin off of a classic concept. It's as loud as I expected it to be. If installed on a bmx bike with standard pegs, the pegs protect the turbospoke from damage possible from laying on the ground. This item is loud enough where if he gets stopped and behind me during a ride, I can hear him as he successfully gets going again, picks up speed, and catches up. Cool idea and the kids love it! Quick delivery too... a day early.

I ordered this for my 8 year old son who discovered the product on YouTube. He absolutely loves it! He especially loves that there are the three different cards so he can make his bike sound different according to his mood or what games he and his friends are playing together. The red card sounds like a "strong motorcycle like a Harley", the blue card sounds like a "motocross dirt bike", and the yellow card sounds like a "more quiet motorcycle like a Honda or something". (Haha) Those are direct quotes from my son, hahaha. If your child is interested in dirt bikes and motorcycles I highly recommend this product, and so does my adorable son! We hope this review and information is helpful for anyone looking for something like this.

Like my son needed another reason to love his bike! He is five and this thing is awesome. I paid alot for the original turbospoke with the realistic looking muffler tip. I considered buying a cheap imitation but i am glad i bought the real deal. Every kid around is jealous! He is king of the neighborhood. He did crash and the bike fell over on the muffler side. I was surprised how well the muffler held up through the crash. The tip popped off but was easily popped back on and the muffler retained it's round shape. The mounting bracket was not damaged at all. Very robust. He is one super happy little dude and dad is a rock star.

So far I've purchased two of these...the first one we bought for my son's friends birthday as a gift. The mom told me that her other boys loved their brothers gift so much that she had to ask where I got it from so that she could get more! I went with her reviews, and purchased another one for another kids birthday and he loved it just like the last! Makes great noise and it was easy to put on. If you want really loud motorbike noises you kind of need to go pretty fast, but even going at a slower speed you still get great noises. The boys love it and they love me for getting it! Highly Recommended!

I bought this for my six year old son. It was a hit. Installing it was fairly easy. Hopefully the muffler last. Its soft flexible plastic and it has withstood a few crashes so far. The "cards" on the other hand are not so durable. Save time and money and buy plastic cutting board. I've traced and cut replacement cards from this and it is a lot more durable. Overall pretty cool, I want one on my bike now.

A great gift for budding young cyclists!

I bought this for my brother as a gift, and he loves it. It's motivating him to go out and bike more, something he really needs to do. My only complaint with the product is that the cards, as expected, wear out. Going on three years...

I thought this thing would break almost immediately, given that it is plastic. I don't know how my 6-8 year old managed, but it got hard use for nearly three years and never failed us. HARD use.... One of his favorite toys. Even the cards have held up. Unfortunately, his bike was stolen yesterday for his elementary school, of all places. The adapter was on the bike. I wish the circumstances were different, but I will definitely be ordering another one so he can keep braaapin' on his makeshift dirt bike. Missing a star because I would be more than happy to pay quite a bit more for a metal version if one existed.

Disappointed, but still fun

I was a bit disappointed with this product. I had to do some mods to the bike frame to get it installed. The Turbospoke is made to fit a perfectly round tube frame, so if your frame is compressed out-of-round near the welded joints, you will have trouble. Due to the shape of the frame where the Turbospoke installed, I had to file some notches into the frame so the bolts would fit. It does fit tightly with no wiggle. The sound does not project as throaty as I would have hoped, but luckily the boy who owns this loves all noise, so he is happy as a clam in sand.

Man if this isn't the coolest thing for a boys bike I don't know what is!!! Do you know how many decks of cards we've gone through? Or empty drink cans?! This fixes that and is really loud. A LOT louder than I imagined it would be. It's very easy to install and the kids will absolutely love it. The cards are sturdy enough to outlast cards and cans significantly. It's really a inexpensive kid pleaser. They will love it order it and they will want to ride their bikes all day.
