Product Description

For many people, a simple computer keyboard is like a wall that is impossible to climb. Having no access to a computer isolates people and limits their ability to communicate with loved ones, surf the web, and tap into a world of information. The orbiTouch allows typists to type all keys found on a keyboard, plus provides a fully-integrated mouse capability -- all via two ergonomically sculpted domes. The alphabetic and color rings provide immediate out-of-the-box use. Typists are able to type by simply sliding to a color on the left dome and a character group and on the right dome. A complete software learning program is provided with the orbiTouch that quickly allows anyone new to the orbiTouch a way to gain speed and proficiency. Who are our current users? Persons with: * No disability, but want to type more comfortably * Autism * Cognitive challenges * Carpal tunnel syndrome or repetitive stress and other hand/finger injuries * Cerebral palsy or limited fine motor skills * Arthritis * Low vision or blindness

Interesting but could use improvements

I got this out of curiosity and have been using this regularly for a week after my regular keyboard got soup in it. I'm even using it now to write this review.

This keyboard would be useful for someone with limited mobility or dexterity (or if you had to type with boxing gloves on) but some problems I've run into include:
1) Caps Lock feature is not smart and will shift all characters (numbers, symbols, and even 'space', 'tab' and 'enter').
2) Keyboard tends to move around the desk especially when typing letters where both domes are moved in the same direction.
3) Dome movements for 'k' & 'tab' are too similar to 'F5' making it too easy to wipe out text box web page entries by accidentally refreshing the page.
4) Don't expect to ever get speeds much above 25-30 WPM.

Great if you have a hand disability

This keyboard is good for people with repetitive stress injury, carpal tunnel, or any other hand disability. It takes a little while to learn how to use it, though.
