Great "step-up" from 3x3 Rubik's cube.by Tyler (4 out of 5 stars)

This puzzle looks daunting, even to experienced cubers, but it is actually no more difficult to solve than a Rubik's 3x3....it just takes a little more time. Not quite the challenge I was looking for, but still an excellent product!
As for the maneuverability of the puzzle: sides are not stiff at all, although could probably benefit from lubricating; pieces haven't popped out yet; stickers are very sturdy, haven't peeled yet, and I don't think they will any time soon; edges catch, so it locks kinda frequently- basically all sides need to be exactly in place before you can rotate another side (aka, it doesn't cut corners at all).
A lot of fun; a real challenge; somewhat hard to manipulate

If you have never solved a 3x3 Rubik's Cube, I recommend trying that first before Meffert's Challenge dodecahedron. And if you're having problems with the 3x3, make sure you search for the solution and explanation on Youtube. You can solve that puzzle! Anyway, Meffert's Challenge is a very interesting little puzzle because it doesn't have the nice orderly rows and columns that the 3x3 has, but instead has "jagged" rows, or layers, which are the key to solving it. It took few days for my son to solve it. It was a lot of fun. He didn't rush, nor did he try to break a time record. And that is the key to keeping your dodecahedron is one piece. You see, it is not built with the highest quality design and materials, which means that if you force turns, it can easily pop apart. You have to be patient, turning when the little cubes are aligned. So far he has solved this puzzled many many times and nothing bad has happened. It has not popped apart. The face stickers have not peeled off -- not even close. I highly recommend this puzzle. It is a lot of fun.

the megaminx cube is not great out of the box but with some silicone it turned out really nice. as for the stickers if you want really good quality stickers i would recommend ordering straight from their website because after about 2 days of light use the clear outer layers peeled off that's when i ordered the vinyl stickers from [...]. but overall i would recommend the meferts challenge megaminx for any cuber who knows how to solve a 3x3
Great product, fun for adults

I put this at my desk and I work with many highly educated professionals who can't figure it out except 1 person. In reality, it's the same concept of the standard rubik's cube but it's entertaining how mind blowing the reaction to this thing sitting solved at my desk. There is a slight noise coming from the center of the cube like something is loose but it hasn't effected the turning of the dodecahedron.

My 13 year old son loves this cube. He is proficient at solving it but never gets tired of playing with it. Great for a car trip. Keeps him busy for a long time. I would highly reccomend it if your son or daughter is into "cubing"
Very good.

It's actually very good. It moves smoothly. The only thing is the sticker but i guess that's because I use a lot :)
Go to cubesmith.com after you purchase this.

Absolutely un-playable out of the box (way to stiff), after tensioning and lubing it turns great. Even though the turning is very nice now it is still quite catchy. I don't like the sticker shades at all either, I have ordered stickers from Cubesmith, there are 2 similar white colors and 2 similar red colors that make solving very difficult for me.
Nice overall, but stickers fade and its not as fast as other brands

The quality of the pieces is great.
The turning is smooth and pops rarely occur.
The colors are nice
Resistant to drops
The stickers fade, in particular the darker green seems to fade the fastest for me.
Can lock up because the puzzle doesnt have good corner cutting.

Great puzzle for anyone who knows how to solve the 3x3. Basic principles to solve the 3x3 can be applied to this puzzle!!! Great fun to do over and over again. Highly recommended. I'd say it's easier to solve than the 4x4 or 5x5 even though it looks more daunting than the larger cubes. People will be impressed if you can solve this one and it's not difficult! The hardest part is finding the correct piece located on one of 12 sides.
Bought it in Japan and played with it a bunch since then and the stickers are still holding up fairly well considering the usage.
Why Mefferts

From my experience the Mefferts Megaminx is very stiff and comes at a high price. The QJ one though costs less and works better.
