Product Description

Stamp out confidential information with Identity Theft Guard Stamps. This stamp uses a special pattern to quickly hide your address, social security number, account numbers, or ID numbers on junk mail, credit card offers, bills and more. The self-inking design automatically re-inks itself into a rotating, self-contained ink pad before each impression, making it ideal for rapid, repetitive stamping. In addition, the two-sided ink pad gives you double the life. When the impression starts to fade, simply slide the pad out, flip it over, reinsert, and keep stamping! Important note: This Identity Theft Protection Stamp is provided as a means of theft protection but cannot guarantee against identity theft. The Identity Theft Protection Stamp is most effective when the stamp ink color matches the information that is to be concealed. This product works best with non-glossy, uncoated paper. The ink may not fully soak into glossy paper. This product is another tool to help make ID theft more difficult. For highly sensitive documents, we suggest both stamping and shredding.

Doesn't Come Off
by (¬"¿Â¬) (5 out of 5 stars)
February 22, 2014

I don't like throwing away boxes and envelopes with my name and address pasted all over them. Usually, I use a marker, but that takes too long when I have a whole pile to go through and I can see right through it, so I ordered this rubber stamp. The first thing I stamped was the mailing label on the envelope it came in. It's much better than a marker. I can't read a thing.

A few days later, I went back to that envelope and wet the label with water and tried some alcohol. The ink smudges and smears, but it doesn't come off. Someone would have to be determined to get my information.

This is a self-inking stamp with a reversible ink pad. There are no instructions, but it's easy enough to press where it says "press," and push the pad out and turn it over when the ink runs dry. They sell refill ink pads for a reasonable price. Everything about it is great.

I'm so glad I bought this stamp. I should have bought it years ago.

Annoyed with this product.

I've owned more than one of this type of device and never had problems with them for the years I had them. Never had to re-ink them. This one...out of the box would not stamp evenly even after repeated inkings. To remove the pad was a struggle that left me with ink all over my hands. To replace the pad in the slot, more mess on me. Then it stamped with a circle of ink missing about the size of a dime. More re-inking by moving it on and off the pad, and it might now be right. Not impressed with this product.

Dry Ink Will Smear When Wet
by Brookhouse (1 out of 5 stars)
June 25, 2014

I definitely agree with the previous reviewer who stated that should the dried ink get wet it will be very easy to wipe off and the information you do not want seen is there. I stamped on my address on a semi-slick magazine. Yes, the stamp obliterated the address and I thought finally a stamp that works. However the next day when taking the bundle of magazines to the recycling center, there was a misting rain, the top two magazines got damp and I discovered that the ink could very easily be wiped right off. If you are buying this for security reasons (and isn't that what it is for) know that the ink is not permanent.....it is no different than a washable marker and certainly should not be marketed under 'Identity Theft Protection' .There is no protection but if you use this stamp there is a good chance of you becoming a victim of identity theft.

My Mother in law used a similar stamp and suggested ...

My Mother in law used a similar stamp and suggested we get one for both junk mail we were recycling and any other trash that had our names, addresses or other personal information on it. After purchasing this one, I am a believer too. The only complaint I have is that it takes 2 or 3 stamps to really cover the printing. With so many identity thefts this accessory is a necessary one.

Good for paper privacy
by Dustin Williams (4 out of 5 stars)
December 12, 2012

When my shredder recently stopped working, I decided to purchase this as a quick and simple substitute. Much to my surprise, it actually works quite well, especially for papers that post sensitive materials on it, such as your name, account numbers, mailing address, etc. Here's what's great about it:
- Easy to use.
- Can be refilled when needed.
- Stamps out a large area without any mess, runny ink, etc.

Potential improvements:
- Seems a bit bulky in size. It was definitely larger in size than I expected.
- Does not work well for surfaces that aren't perfectly flat, such as shipping boxes. Also, some textures don't seem very receptive of ink and it will rub right off when when touched, revealing the sensitive info underneath it.

Overall, it's a great product, but know that it might not provide for all of your privacy needs. Scissors or a shredder might be needed too. ;-)

No Instructions Provided re How to Replace Ink Pads
by VistaSandy (1 out of 5 stars)
April 23, 2015

This ID stamp came with a pale and not very well "inked" stamp pad in it (I used it only a few times before it was too faint to read anything). Then, when I went to try to replace it with one of the refill pads I had purchased (expensive though they were), there were no instructions provided either with the ID stamp OR the inkpad refill units. I tried for over 3 hours to figure out how to replace the useless ink pad and finally gave up, never figuring out how to replace the ink pad. There was also no info provided as to who to contact for help, and an Amazon customer rep was unable to help me figure it out. Thank goodness Amazon is so good in helping with returns! My advice is, steer clear of this product. It is worthless.

Inconsistent coverage
by Goggie (3 out of 5 stars)
January 31, 2017

I was hoping to use this as a break from shredding many years of papers following a move. Unfortunately, it just doesn't consistently cover. The paper needs to be on an absolutely flat/hard surface and even then it can sometimes take three tries to cover a simple account number. Almost impossible with slightly rumpled old documents. When there is good contact, the coverage is also pretty good, but annoying to have to double tap. I'm thinking the rolling style of stamp might work better.

So far, so good...
by jimintexas (5 out of 5 stars)

I don't consider myself the paranoid type, but I believe in reducing risk. And with problems of identity theft, I don't like to throw trash away (especially from banks soliciting for new credit card applications, etc) which has my personal information. We have a shredder, but shredding everything is rather time-consuming. In addition, sometimes we try to reuse these mailings for scratch paper if they are printed only on one side. However, even if we use as scratch paper, eventually they would need to be thrown away, and our personal information may be printed on the back. Thus, we would often spend the time to cut out the areas with our personal information, but that was also time-consuming. This device helps us save time plus still allows us to reuse the paper for scratch paper. It works on glossy mailings, but we have found there are some glossy mailings where it doesn't work. So far, though, that's only happened once. It may take a couple of stamps on a glossy mailing to block out information, but only one stamp on normal paper is required.

Great time saver.
by jam (4 out of 5 stars)
October 12, 2015

Blacking out our name, address, and account numbers on things we want to recycle or throw out is so much easier than tearing that information off of the page then shredding (which is what we used to do). This particular stamp covers a large surface area. If you aren't doing this on a perfectly flat surface you sometimes have to stamp twice, but that only makes sense. Don't know how long the ink will last as we've only had this a month or so, but it is such a time saver! If it lasts for quite a while I'll try to remember to upgrade to 5 stars.

Saves Time Shredding
by Fly Guy (4 out of 5 stars)
January 23, 2014

This works great to cover simple information on generic mailers or shipping labels. I wouldn't use this for critical information (i.e. credit cards, bank statements, etc.) but for simple protection it works fast. The complaints in the past that the ink is to light or the ink doesn't stick to shiny surface haven't been a problem with the unit I have. One recommendation would be to make sure what you are stamping is completely flat and support on a table/counter. Tried to stamp a couple shipping labels on boxes and you get a partial stamp. Break down the box flat and it will work fine. This has been great for shipping labels you can't get off but still want to cover your information.

Used almost daily for the last month and holding up great.
