Sharp, extremely small, and easily passes through TSA screening (this is absolutely legal!)by Replicant (4 out of 5 stars)

I have traveled through airport security with this small blade many times. There's nothing illegal about carrying something this small with you. It's barely longer than the blade inside my eyeliner pencil sharpener. Here's the TSA information, if it helps put anyone's concerns to rest:
"Small blades, like those on mini-pocket knives and corkscrews, will be allowed. The blade must fold away and be less than 2.36 inches (6 centimeters) long and 1/2 inch (1.27 centimeters wide), and the knife cannot have a molded handle."
As for the sharpness of the blade---it's like any kind of ceramic knife---very sharp for slicing, but you CAN chip or shatter the blade if it suffers an impact or a lot of side-to-side force. So I wouldn't advise sewing this blade into a piece of clothing that will go through machine washing.
It's a handy thing to have as a last-ditch, when-sh*t-hits-the-fan, emergency blade. Is it worth the high price? Sure, I guess. Just be aware that it's extremely small, like 1-inch small, and you'll need fine gauge kevlar thread (or some other type of thread) if you want to use the tiny hole that is bored through it at one end.

These things are amazing. Smaller than I expected, even though dimensions were given, but that makes them very easy to hide on your person, I ordered two, and am going to order several more. These are sharp, sliced through paper like butter, and is as effective as my SOG knife. Very happy with this product, and with ASRT. Would have given 7 stars if available.
most useful tactical blade

I have spent the past couple of months trying to decide on what would be a decent tactical blade for me, I needed a small blade and that could help me out in a pinch. I really considered SOG's micron 2 and several other blades however this blade turned out to be perfect, despite some of the things I was a little unaware of. Some of the things I was unaware, before I bought the blade is actually how small 30mm x 10mm really is. Even though this blade looks rather small it cut through every box I had and through various other material with ease. I am actually confident that if I need to open a box, letter or even cut a pair of plastic handcuffs, I will be prepared. One thing that came to mind was to see if airport security would detect these types of blades, however upon further thought of walking into a plane with any type of blade I decided that would not be such a great idea. (although to be fair I don't think the metal detects would sense it, I know their x ray scanners can detect it, seeing as how this blade must be made of a very dense material to be "non-dulling").
Overall, if you are looking for a really small, compact, thin, durable, covert last ditch, get me out a pinch blade, then you should definitely consider this type of blade.
p.s. when opening the package you should try to be gentle to get the blade out of the cylinder compartment because if can get 'stuck'.
NatGeo ain't wrong people!

I was disappointed with how small this blade is until I was watching NatGeo one day and found out that in manufacturing, sharpness counts.
I also found out that Zirconia can hold an edge much much, MUCH better than ANY metal. Not only that, but Zirconia can provide an edge that is Very Much sharper than any other material. Diamonds are the thing that can be used to sharpen these babies!
Zirconia cannot be detected with a metal detector, ( I do NOT condone using this or any other blade for breaking the Law!) but, if you're being held against your will by some madman, or being herded into a FEMA camp, this item could help you out in any of a thousand ways.
The little, tiny, soft plastic tube this blade is stored in confused me at first.... But I'm a bit anal :-)

Yes, it works, but you better figure out how you will handle it.
The little string only helps from losing the darn thing.

Great non metallic backup blade. Mine came razor sharp. I put tape over the edge just to keep it from cutting my leather wallet. As said by others this thing is tiny, but id rather have it than nothing
