At Last, A Pretty Measuring Spoon

It's so great to have a lovely blue measuring spoon. All you gals will love that feature. I purchased this spoon because I live at altitude and bake bread. At altitude you have to be very careful about the amount of yeast you use. The spoon was larger than I had expected, but that is a plus too, as it makes spills or over-filling the spoon less of a problem; Who hasn't had to wipe their counter off after trying to get an exact measurement of salt? Another great feature is the fact that it uses a watch battery. In my humble opinion, watch batteries last ages longer than the AAA type, and are available at many stores. I was slightly confused when I first turned it on because the weight kept cycling upwards. However, I soon learned that all you have to do is press the option for grams or ounces and then press tare and it goes to zero. Case solved. As others have mentioned, you don't hold this spoon to measure, you place it on your counter to use it. It's size makes this easy.

Great option for more precise supplement measurements.

I am a bit of a perfectionist when it comes to counting calories and watching my diet. I drink a lot of protein shakes and use some powder supplements. And this really fit the bill for me. I have found that the measuring scoops or cups that come with a lot of these protein powders and supplements are terribly inaccurate... by a lot. So this allows me to get significantly more precise measurements. For as much as I use it, the $18 was a really small price to pay. Would definitely recommend.

Had high hopes, but was disappointed.

It works- sometimes, it's not terrible but it's not amazing either. It definitely is very touchy. You must use it on a flat surface; that's not an issue. What is an issue, is when you follow the manufacturers instructions and you still have difficulty obtaining a precise result.

When an instrument such as this one is designed to measure .1gm you would hope that it is sensitive and finely tuned.

I bought this specifically for measuring small quantities of yeast (.4 -.6 gms). I know the rough tsp approximations of those qualities. .4gm is 1/8 tsp, sometimes i would measure the tsp amount and put it onto the scale and get no reading - the next reading would be .2 and then .8; even when used on a completely flat surface with the scale set to zero. I feel I would get more accurate results just guessing 1/8 tsp.

I paid $30 AUD for this product. I wish I had kept my money.

It would be fine if you were wanting to measure larger quantities from 1-30 gms. But for accuracy in those .1gm increments- you're guess is about as accurate as you're going to get.

So accurate great scale!

I love coffee and I bought this spoon for one thing only. To make my coffee exactly the same every time! I use grams for scaling and the very good thing about this great product is that you even get the reading of a fraction of a gram! I have other large kitchen scales and comparing with this spoon, I like the spoon more!

Can be made to do what you want it to do.

MY ORIGINAL REVIEW HAS NOW BEEN CHANGED. I have learned to make the thing work in the meantime. Just put it on a flat surface and use it like a regular scale. It will then do what you want it to do.

ORIGINAL REVIEW: Poor design and poor functionality makes this a very frustrating little electronic gadget. I must say that I simply cannot make it work properly - and it seems to be wildly off - no accuracy. Sorry I purchased this thing at all - I will keep at it though and report back if I ever make it work properly.

Utterly useless; numbers kept moving regardless of what buttons I pressed or whether it was in hand or on the counter. Plus, the screen kept flashing and showing the battery was at low power even when I went out and bought a replacement battery. I contacted Amazon for a full return and shipping label after a couple days of trying to get it to work properly. Waste of time & money.

Works, but I wouldn't trust it.

It works OK if you're not looking to measure too accurately. I plan to use something like this in my coffee shop so my baristas can quickly measure out coffee grounds for espresso shots. I am very particular about consistency and this might not be the device for me. Fortunately and unfortunately for me, it was cheap. It's cheap so I'm not going to worry about returning it and the $19 it cost me won't kill me. I just probably won't be buying any more of them.

Here are the five issues I have with this digital spoon:
1. It's not accurate. I have an America Weigh scale that I've calibrated at 50g and 500g and it's right on the dot. At 15g, it is off by about 1.6g. That's about 10%. That's horribly inaccurate. In espresso, 0.5g off will already affect the shot. One possible solution is just remember to weigh in at 16.1g, but what if I'm using multiple spoons? Will I have to remember a different weight for each spoon?
2. It seems to be TOO sensitive. In general terms, this would be a plus. However, it's so sensitive that you have to have surgeons' hands to weight anything accurately (pronounced stable). It scale keeps moving up and down rather quickly and you really can't tell what the actual number it is trying to display unless you set the thing down. Read item #3 to see how annoying this actually becomes.
3. The spoon is quite large, but it's not big enough for 13g of powder (fresh ground coffee). If I add any more, it usually runs off the spoon. So, it's not a one spoonful solution. I would have to scoop 13g, then remember to scoop another 6.1g which is ridiculous.
4. In some pictures of this product, there are two size spoons. It looks like the larger size spoon which might work for me. However, the product description does not mention the larger spoon but no one seems to have them online either. So, a seemingly unavailable spoon would make this product work for me.
5. This product doesn't seem to have any type of support at all. If you Google "Admetior", most sites point to Amazon. This company doesn't seem to have its own website. I would like to be able to talk to someone to see if there are any kind of calibration methods (it's off by a percentage so I don't think there is any user calibration methods), or new spoons in case they get lost or broken.

These seem to be disposable digital spoons, so when something wears out or pieces are missing, you throw it away and buy something else.

BEWARE! If you buy this and it breaks you will be "out of luck" getting a refund, replacement after 30 days... and the US distributer "Paraasia-International" doenst even offer these anymore so the manufacturer will not help you either.

Size is nice and conversions would be perfect. However did not work right out of the box. Some numbers flasned for a few seconds - and that was it. Too bad I could really use something like this....
