Fun activity but cheaper elsewhere

This worked great. It sprouted crystals in under an hour and was completely finished in a day's time. Left undisturbed, it has sat and looked beautiful for a month now. But it is finally starting to dry out and the "leaves" are starting to fall off little by little. Last night I got the bright idea that maybe it needed some more water to maintain its leaves, so I poured a little water in the tray. Well that wasn't a good idea because while it soaked up the water, the fragile crystal leaves apparently couldn't hold any moisture in their delicate state, so this morning 20% of the tree has fallen off. One other suggestion... you will need to separate the paper branches before you start growing this. I separated them but did not actually fold and bend them to stay in that position. As a result, when the water started to wick up, many of the branches went back to their original position--right alongside the other branches and we didn't get the separation of the branches as much as we could have. Final comment: I only gave this 4 stars because I found this exact product at Hobby Lobby for $2.99 so I feel like it is overpriced here--especially as an add-on item.

It's fun to watch a tree grow

For a couple of pieces of cardboard, a plastic tray and a pouch of water, I was very surprised to have as much enjoyment as I did from this product. It's incredibly simple, and yet incredibly engaging. You want to watch it grow because you don't want to miss out on anything. You also want to touch it, which of course can cause some issues. All in all, for the price and a little bit of wonderment, it's worth it.

Nostalgia lane

These things are cool. I remember them from when i was a kid and i still love them. They grow quickly so that you and your kids (or whomever) can actually watch them grow. It's still fascinating! Other reviews complained of the color but I discovered if you put food coloring on the cardboard tree stand before pouring the crystal solution in you can make them any color you want, even multicolored like we did. Good, clean, inexpensive fun.

I bought this for myself and it was fun and really cool. Super fragile so I put it under a glass dome I had. Can't see this working well for young kids though

The product was great, but a word of caution, it is super fragile. If you bump it in the slightest the crystals will fall off (this is not a problem with the product, it is just a matter in fact about this in general). If you do lose crystals you can place the crystals back in the tray and add some more water (though know that any crystals still on the tree will dissolve if you do this).

These were great entertainment and worked really great. the crystals grew even more than the package indicated. Box said it would develop over a 4-6 hour period which they did but also continued to grow over night until all of the liquid was used up. Kids loved it and we got a real kick out of it also. Can't go wrong for the price

Super cool idea. The crystals don't fill out quite as well as the picture and they are feathery soft so, when we moved it, they fell off and we had a bare tree shortly after it was finished. The first one we ordered broke in transit and the company was great to send a new one.

Fun and educational

This was a fun little project for my 9yo. It worked just as it should, and the tree (we got pink) looked really cool! My only problem is the "crystals" are like powder and it falls off with the slightest bump. Don't try to move it until you're ready to throw it away!

These are great, and they really do turn out like the picture in just a few hours. Easy to set up (just be sure to put the tree in the stand BEFORE you add the liquid. The only caveat is that the tree is very fragile ... you should not expect this to be a permanent display item.

Received product in a bent up box! Followed the instructions but nothing happened. Totally a waste of time & money. Total rip off!
