I use it every day, works great
by Bob O`Bob (5 out of 5 stars)
September 25, 2014

I received one as a gift about two years ago and used it every day with my morning routine of coffee and steel-cut oats - always with bananas unless I forget to buy more. I don't know why but I never get tired of bananas in my oats. Other fruit get boring after less than a week, even mango.

I washed and shook the slicer dry every day, but didn't realize that leaving it upright in my dish rack encouraged water to drip onto the spring. I think two years of good service is adequate, so I simply ordered another. When I thought some more about it on the day it arrived, I realized it probably had a warranty of some kind, which was verified by an easy web search. After a cheerful email exchange with the manufacturer there is now a replacement on its way to me. Even if the springs rust out again I should be good for four more years! But I think I'll do better about drying the one I bought from Amazon, and the replacement will stay new - either becoming a gift, or stored as a back-up.

While the first one was still pretty new to me, I bought lunch at a gourmet food truck meetup, where one truck, I believe it was "Waffle Amore," specialized in waffles. After ordering a "bananas foster" waffle, I watched them use the same tool. Theirs was covered in banana bits, because they only need to wash it a few times a day, but they loved it too, and we had a nice laugh "bonding" over a banana slicing tool.

Plastic is a little cheap & the metal will catch ...
by Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

Plastic is a little cheap & the metal will catch on the plastic. So I have to bend the metal over so it will fit in between. If they fix that would give it 5 stars. Use it regularly to cut/slice bananas to dehydrate. Wish it came with a little cleaning brush. Bananas get stuck in between the metal slices. Hard to clean & get out.

I seen the chef'n banaza bananna slicer product at crate n barrel, looked up product on Amazon found this one stating it was the exact same one for cheapier, get the product with a bent box saying as seen on tv, it was cheap plastic cheap metal like material slicer, totally different from what it says. False advertisement and not the same brand!

Fake Chef'n Bananza
by TNM (1 out of 5 stars)

This is not the genuine Chef'n Bananza. I have used banana slicers for more than 5 years and I can tell you this one is made of cheap plastic. I usually find the real one at bed bath and beyond or order directly from Chef'n

Chef'n Bananza Banana Slicer

This item arrived in a timely manner and as described. It makes very clean/uniform banana slices which could be very helpful when dehydrating. This kitchen tool could save you lots of time and make for uniform slices as needed. I would definitely recommend this banana slicer.

Clever, fun conversation starter!
by Rejse10 (5 out of 5 stars)

Love this thing! We use it to cut bananas for our mobile food business, and guests always comment on how clever it is. Our employees love the simplicity too. It adds an element of interest, and is certainly a conversation starter. Our first one broke after months of use, and guests asked where it was! For the cost and how much we use it, it's definitely one of our best purchases. The fact that one broke doesn't bother me at all. I would recommend washing it immediately after use if possible since banana can dry and get crusty on the blades.

The Chef'n Bananza Banana Slicer
by Gary (4 out of 5 stars)

The Chef'n Bananza Banana Slicer works very well. I dehydrate fruit. This will cut 6 slices of bananna very fast and easy. Two small things that keep this tool in my book from being perfect. One is where you place your thumb on the top to press down to cut. Once I had my thumb a little to close (an easy thing to do) the front blades and gave myself a small cut. If they put just a little guard between the blades and where you press down, that would solve the problem. I'm going to make one for mine with a piece of PVC pipe (plastic water pipe) and glue it in place. The second thing is, naturally after using the slicer, you have to wash it. It is difficulte to clean between the blades because they are close together (1/4" apart). I feel some sort of a cleaning brush should be included with the tool, or if not then be told what can be used to clean the slicer effectively.

Still sharp

Purchased a year ago for slicing bananas prior to dehydration. Have dehydrated parts of several large bunches of bananas and it still looks new. Initially a little difficult to clean well but soaking for a few minutes then using soft flexible 1" brush made cleaning quick.

Photo is of two large bananas I sliced in under twenty seconds.

This is one of the kitchen gadgets that you don't know you need, until you use it.

Great price, Great Quality! I highly recommend!

If you are reading new reviews first, read some of the older reviews. They are hilarious!

We use it pretty often and somehow sliced bananas taste sweeter than whole ...

My sister has one of these and my son loves to use it. He normally does not ask to eat bananas. I recently bought one for my husband and he loves it. We use it pretty often and somehow sliced bananas taste sweeter than whole bananas.
