Raclette comes from the French word “racler”, which means to scrape. It’s also the name of the meal and the cheese the meal uses. Raclette originated in medieval times, when herders stayed with their flocks of sheep in the high altitudes between June and September. As a warm meal, they mounted a hunk of cheese on a stick above the open fire to melt, and with their knives they scraped the melted cheese over pieces of bread, potatoes, gherkins, pickled onions, and dried meats.
Go wild! The Partyclette is not limited to raclette cheese. Any melting cheese will do:
- A slice of perfectly melted Cheddar is the perfect finishing touch for your cheeseburger.
- How about exploring new cheeses by melting Haloumi?- Melted Brie + fruit are always an irresistible combination.
- Make a cheese sauce for nachos!

Works great, sturdy construction, delicious melted cheese.by Tim D. (5 out of 5 stars)

After seeing this on a Reddit thread I decided to grab one, cause raclette is awesome.
The pics looked like the item might be a bit flimsy but although a simple item, it seems sturdy. I was skeptical of tealights to melt the cheese properly but it brings it to the perfect gooey consistency to load up some roasted potatoes. I've used raclette cheese and Gruyere so far and both worked well and slid right off the tray, although the Gruyere was a bit stickier and hung out to the spatula a bit.
If you like raclette and don't have the room or budget for a fancy melter then this is pretty cool.
Ooozing, Bubbling Cheese... for a few months at least.. (Second Update After Buying Another) THEY US

Of course it goes on sale Right after I bought It.... Anyways! Still Absolutely worth the 35 bucks I paid for it. Love making homemade crackers and melting some lovely cheese on it without a disgusting microwave. I am Very surprised these things are not way more popular. If you do decide to get one, get this one and not the cheaper version... The cheaper versions metal flakes off very easily.
UPDATE
Started to chip on me, very upsetting... thinking maybe using a tad bit of pam before you start the melting process might help, still very upsetting. Especially since I used it a lot, like 3-4 times a week I was hoping it would last longer than it did...
SECOND UPDATE
I bought another one, that shows you how much I loved this thing the first time. I am pleased to report that they have started used a new type of metal that Does Not scratch and chip. So far one month in its very good still. I still use a tiny bit of non stick coconut oil spray just to be safe. Perfect Now!

I wanted this thing for a while. It looked so simple and easy. Some of the reviews made me think twice. Well it couldn't be more simple, or easy. Perfect little snack. We melted some sliced cheddar, and sliced mozzarella on some French bread. It only took a few minutes to melt, and spread perfectly. Much cheaper option than the big industrial ones. Maybe someday, but this is fun for now. Perfect gift. Gave two this last Christmas.

Just used this for the first time this weekend. it worked just as described and produced delicious cheese for melting on veggies and bread. Love how portable and small it is - that's so much of the appeal, not to need a giant apparatus for something so simple and delicious. The cheese doesn't always cook perfectly evenly, is probably my only complaint. Tastes amazing, the device looks cute, and the presentation is perfect to impress for dinner parties or just to use alone at home.
Amazing!

I was a little leery trusting tealights to heat up the cheese in a timely manner, but it actually does melt it really fast! The part where the cheese goes is super slick and I haven't encountered any problems with burning or sticking. This is a really great product.

Exactly what I hoped for. Melted the cheese in a few minutes.
Edit: For those of you that say it takes too long try using a small pot lid on top so the cheese is covered. It melts faster this way

Hey you! You like cheese, you like to put cheese on everything. How about you step it up and put melty cheese on everything! This is a fun "easy bake" way to melt cheese as a topping for burgers, veggies, potatoes... mix different cheeses, add garlic, spices and light the candles and watch the melting begin!
Great little item for one!

I love cheese, and I love having my cheese melted over my food, so this was a nice little purchase. The only issue I really have with it is just that it's on the small side, and it holds enough cheese for a single person. It takes a few minutes to melt the cheese too, so you should start melting beforehand, if you want hot cheese over hot food. This makes a great gift for any kind of foodie though! It definitely makes me want a bigger, fancier one.
Perfect!

If your looking for a raclette but don't have the money (or the cheese) for a big one, this is perfect. Takes a little bit to melt the first round of cheese but once it's warm it went pretty quick. Easy to store and clean. I got it for my wife for Christmas and she LOVES it.
