Great pool toy - and so large!by Deborah (5 out of 5 stars)

Bought this for my nephew's 7th birthday. They had plenty of the 3-4 inch types but he wanted a large one! This one was huge - I didn't think to measure since the kids grabbed this and went straight to the pool to play but it has to be 2x as long as his other ones. And it's awesome underwater! Through it out of the water and it's meh - a heavy toy that ought not to be thrown. But underwater - it's a missile! We spent hours just shooting it back and forth under the water - it is so fast and smooth and RED! The missile is filled with a liquid inside and glitter so it's always shining and shimmering. Just a fun toy all around, and my nephew was oh so pleased! Thanks!

I got this for my son's 5th birthday and he wanted to go try it out right away. It takes a little bit of practice to figure out how to throw it so that it really zooms, but not much. My son could actually catch it underwater most of the time. The slightly rubbery torpedo has a liquid inside and the fins are canted in such a way that it spins through the water, and the additional weight of the liquid gives it a little added oomph (that's the technical term, people). Because it's blue, I can see that if it made it to the bottom of the deep end, it'd probably be hard to find, but we were playing in 3-4 feet of water, so it wasn't difficult to locate. Everyone wanted to give it a try (even the dads!) so it was great for making friends and sharing. It's very sturdy-it's been hurled through our living room (grrrrr), left in the car during 101 degree heat, and played with many times in the water and it's still intact.

We have two of these and the kids AND grownups love them! They work extremely well in the pool. Well made and love the glitter! I would not hesitate to purchase this item again.
Good for range of age groups from young to old...

The price is high, but it is a fun toy for the pool for young and old. So if you want to bridge the age gap this toypedo brings out the kids in the adult male. If you have a really deep pool plan on doing some diving to bring it up from the bottom. Also think about the color of the torpedo. We purchased a blue one. With most pools lined blue sometimes the ability to find the torpedo is a slight challenge. So I would recommend an off color. The product is sturdy, and be prepared for comments on the phallic shape.
Great for helping kids learn proper breathing techniques for swimming

Looks.... how can I put this.... odd. But very fun to play with for kids who can swim under water, very fun to throw like a torpedo under the water. And used in our swim classes to teach proper breather techniques.
The best toypedos so far.

I really like these. I bought two. These go farther than both the full size toypedos, and the bandits by far. These have angled fins, so they spin as they travel throuth the water. They are also slightly thinner than the toypedos. Sparkly too. These are the best ones yet.
Red becomes pink fast in the pool

We have lots of fun with the Toypedo, but the only issue is that it does fade pretty quick. What was once red and sparkly is now light pink and cloudy after several weeks. It still works the same and we have come up with lots of games to play in the pool using it, but be warned that it will change color.
Great water toy, well made!

We saw a similar item that the kids' swim instructor had and knew we had to have one. We got this item and are really happy with it. It feels a bit sturdier and heavier than other models. It really can glide far under the water. Our kids love playing with this and helps them to dive under water. Really fun water toy!
Hope you don't get a blue one

Torpedos are great pool fun. But, as the seller says, color may vary and unfortunately I got a blue one, which you are hard to see in the water. Sometimes you have to get out of the pool to find it. I ended throwing this one out and buying one from another company that did not have blue ones.
Unlike anything I've come across

It's a lot of fun to pass this back and forth underwater. Most toys you need to throw above the water of course. So this is a unique toy to have in the arsenal. My four year old likes it just as much as me and can make it work no problem. We can't get it to go 40 feet though! Tops maybe 30. It's great for kids to learn how to dive as it will sink to the bottom. Only sparkles in the sun, otherwise it is a dark blob. But it is fun as a dark blob all the same. I would definitely recommend this toypedo.
