WASTE OF MONEY!

I bought this thermometer after I left my old probe thermometer out in the rain after smoking some meat. I've got plenty of Cusinart products in my home and I like them all so I figured I'd pay a little extra money and get this thermometer. I liked the idea of the wireless receiver.

However this thermometer just was not accurate. The probe was too sensitive to the ambient temperature of the oven rather than the internal temperature of the meat. I tried both of the probes, in different places, covered and uncovered, and on different pieces of meat. The result was always the same. I just purchased a regular no-frills $13 probe thermometer to replace the Cusinart one, which will be finding its way into the garbage can once I get home.

BUYER BEWARE!! This is complete JUNK!!

This item is complete junk. We ordered one, followed the instructions, put new batteries in and it wouldn't even light up. It was dead as could be. despite repeated tries and with different new batteries it was dead as could be.

We processed a return to Amazon and said ship a replacement item. We got that today and the exact same thing happened. This thing does not work. BEWARE! We suspect that even though it says Cuisinart, that it really is a bad Chinese Knock-off. We've never had anything like this happen on Amazon. Now I have to question whether Amazon does any checking at all on what is being sold on their site.

Amazon shipped this and I recently received it in two days even though it was the Christmas rush. When I got it and took it out of the box there were three LEDs on the transmitter unit that were not working. I could not read the temperature on the transmitter; however, I could read the temperature on the receiver. Instead of returning the whole thing to Amazon, I called Cuisinart and left a message on their voicemail system. They responded within minutes. They simply asked for my shipping address to send the replacement unit. Cuisinart has great customer service for their product.

I like being able to monitor the temperature inside my smoker as well as the internal temperature of the food that I am cooking. These units were easy to set up and synchronize. The temperatures are accurate. My brisket cooked perfectly.

Not high quality, but worked for a few months

When we received this item (end of October 2015), the hard plastic screen cover was already falling off of the screen. I used it anyway, and the temperature sensor, while slow, worked well. I was pleased with the tenderness of different meats when I took them off at the correct temperature

However, after a three months of not very frequent use this fall and winter, we cannot read the temperature on the screen. The soft plastic is too loose for us to read through it.

I do like the concept and will purchase a different brand to replace it.

Best Probe Thermometer I've Owned!

Used it for the first time two nights ago. What I love about this over others I have owned is the distance you can get from the transmitting unit and still have the receiver read the temps. In the past, other units have said, "Oh, yeah, it will read," only to have the dashes of death appear on the receiver immediately after I close the door from the back deck. Who would have thought a Cuisinart would be such a winner in this category over the other "big name" meat probe thermometers I've tried. Really like this product, and for the price I paid, it's a complete winner! Get one for yourself and see the difference.

I have a Akorn smoker. With the Cuisinart thermometer, I have complete control over my smoker. I like to keep my smoker temp around 225- 250 degrees. With this there is no more guessing. I can adjust as much as my ocd little heart desires. No more overdone meat or raw chicken the meat probe lets you know where the temp is at all times. The remote works great. It is easy up to set up. I was up at 12:30 am to put on a full brisket, half asleep, when I accidentally stepped on the meat probe and broke the plug. I called Cusininart about buying a replacement. They sent me one for a small shipping fee. If you grill, smoke or bake this is a must item.

bought a new smoker and this thermometer set up. this was the best money i have ever spent. from the very first attempt in the smoker the meat has been perfect and i can watch the temp from my sofa. would recommend to anyone

If i have any complaint its that I wish it came with 2 meat probes. I don't really need to monitor the temp of the cooker itself, but a second meat probe would really be handy. Plus, if I did want to keep track of the cooker temp, there's no reason I can't do that with a meat probe. Basically, the meat probe is just better all around.

OK one more complaint, I wish the alarms were easier to use. They always reset to the same low temperatures every time you turn it on and there's no way to only enable 1 set of alarms.

Garbage. But quite amazing my 12 pound brisket was done in one hour already 183 degrees- just kidding it has more than 12 hrs to go , the meat is still raw ----internal temp changes from 189 to 239 and back down to 180s within 15 minutes. Alarm constantly beeping to tell me the readings are wrong. I think I can trust my smokers internal reading, return this garbage and find a meat probe that is accurate.

Returned for new one. Same issue. Piece of crap and I waited too long to try again so I can't return.

Very poor device

This is a very poor device. It boasts that it has a light so you can see what to stick it in, but BBQ flames give you enough light for that. Where it needs a light is on the display - at night you can't see it at all and it doesn't illuminate.

Also, while it beeps at you when the meat is at (or above) temperature, it doesn't tell you what the set temperature is? You may be only one degree below but you get no indication from the fork at all. Or you may be 15 degrees above. Why not include the target temperature as part of the display??

Finally, it is really slow in reading the temperature. The BBQ cools down significantly waiting for the fork to read the temperature.

This is a very poor implementation of this type of tool. One star.
