Lock is unreliable

I like the size of this safe, the capacity is fine for my needs. I really wanted to like it overall. But you can tell that they have cut corners. For instance, the inside carpeting seems cheap and the glue has come off in some places on day one. There are cheap screws holding the felt in place on the inside of the door. I am fine with all that because I didn't pay $1000 for it, but here is the thing:

The combination lock works one in every three times. I have to fiddle with it quite a bit and it is unreliable. That is not what I expect in a safe.

I have another safe (American Security) with a combination lock and it works just fine every time. So I am used to combination locks.

I am going to see if I can purchase a replacement lock for this safe that is made of higher quality. The one that it comes with is no good.

A great safe for a reasonable price

I've always been a fan of dial-combination safes over digital, and so I was happy to find this one at a reasonable price here on Amazon.
---Shipping/Installation

Of course, because I purchased through a 3rd party, Prime wasn't an option, but shipping was still expedient. I had it delivered to my office/warehouse where it was safely unloaded from the delivery truck. I was able to unload it from my pickup once I was home using a complex system of redneck ingenuity. :)

Moving it upstairs was no small feat, but I was also able to do that by myself. WARNING - I do NOT recommend trying that yourself!
---Post-Install

After installation, I'm pleased with the look and design of the unit. The safe itself, like many others, always seems to feel unbalanced until it is secured to the floor. The sides and back seem so much thinner than the front door, but I'm sure they are secure and fire-resistant nonetheless. The combination provided is unchangeable (to my knowledge), so be sure to keep this in a safe place if you should forget the combo. The dial operates fluidly and the lock mechanism is easy to use and quite accurate. In the coming weeks I plan to secure the safe to the floor using the recommended mounting method provided in the instructions, and using the included hardware.
---Aesthetics

The outside of the unit looks GREAT. It arrived undamaged and the packaging was in perfect (albeit dusty) condition. The only real criticism I have is the inside of the unit. The carpet around the shelf does not cover everything, and it seems a bit pointless as to why the manufacturer didn't wrap it ALL the way around.
---Final thoughts

You will also need to purchase a dehumidifier unit to go with this safe, as suggested by the manufacturer. I bought one on here which you only need to recharge every month or so, and it just sits happily inside the safe. Other than that, i expect many years out of this safe as a secure and protected place to keep my personal documents, keepsakes, guns, and millions of dollars (yeah right).

I don't think you will regret purchasing this one, provided you have a friend to help move it!

Good combination safe for the money

This is a fine safe for the money. We purchased it to replace a same-sized safe with a electronic keypad lock when the keypad stopped working and the manufacturer could not replace because the model had changed. The combination lock we hope will be more reliable. Buyers should note that the safe is as the pictures shows and that the "Product Description" paragraph as written is not correct. The weight of the safe is listed as 155 pounds and the shipping weight is 230. We have not weighed the safe but we're very sure that the cardboard box around the safe does not weigh 75 pounds. Also, there is no audible alarm, no battery needed, no key. The "Information From The Manufacturer" paragraph is also wrong: there are only 3 live bolts and 3 fixed bolts. Not sure how they come up with 10 locking points even counting the two hinges. The handle is not a 3-spoke handle but a single bar as shown. Shipping seems variable. One customer review said the delivery people helped him get the safe into his apartment, our delivery was via a semi tractor trailer and was to the curb only; the driver would not help us get it inside, fortunately we had a hand truck available so it was no problem. All things considered, we are pleased with the product so far.

Meh...

I need to start out by noting that I ordered this by mistake. Was looking to order a SteelWater for about $150 more because it's made of thicker steel - still not clear what guage this is...my best guess is 16-14...so thin that the top buckles when you press on it. I realized my mistake about 24 hours after ordering and tried to cancel. Even though the delivery date was 3 weeks out, I was told it was too late to cancel and that I should refuse delivery. Turns out you can't do that with safes. Faced with paying shipping costs that would amount to half the cost of the safe, I decided to keep it. I suspect it would slow thieves down a bit it wouldn't be too hard to open with a heavy pry bar....door bolts sit behind a rather thin frame. So it's relegated to storing my less valuable stuff. Will save up to buy a better safe for my important valuables.

Wrong size posted on the product page

This is a pretty nice safe, at a reasonable price for the volume and quality. However, the size is wrong. We bought this to fit a particular space, and had to return it. The dimensions in the product listing (14.8 x 17.4 x 21.4 inches) don't seem to correspond to any dimensions, internal or external, about this safe. The real dimensions on the product documentation are 20-7/8" W (53cm), 19-3/4" D (50.2cm), 29" H (73.7cm) external.

We've ordered a return, and Amazon is arranging for it. But they haven't updated this product page, so here's your review.

Update December 2014: The Amazon page updated the size of the product, incorrectly. They gave the dimensions in centimeters, but labeled the measurements as inches. Shop carefully.

Arrived damaged

I wanted to wait a while to write this review to see how I ended up liking this safe. I've had it for quite a while now, so here's what I've found. Safe arrived with damage on top, a small dent on the top and it broke the plastic shell finish that is around the metal safe. Didn't bother to contact seller because I wasn't about to deal with lugging the safe back and forth. It's something I can put up with and didn't harm the integrity of the safe. The box was in perfect condition upon delivery so this leads me to believe it happened at the factory. The safe is nice for the price, but the dial is not very accurate, you can slightly be off digit and the safe will still open. Does not appear to be bad enough that you could just open the safe on chance. You cannot change the combination to the safe, so as long as you're fine with using their combo, it's a good buy for the money. The inside is lined in a carpet type padding, the shelves are ok, they will hold most things you can fit in it no problem, but nothing crazy heavy like gold bars, but hand guns, paperwork and jewelry will fit great. It also came with mounting hardware to secure it to the floor.

Decent safe, Poor Delivery

When I received my safe and filled it with valuables it seemed solid with easily-adjustable shelves. I had to call Amazon since some of the clips to hold the shelves were missing. It opens/closes fine and appeared more substantial than other safes I saw like First Alert or Sentry Safe ones.

The real problem was the delivery from CEVA. The box was damaged and the safe had a huge "ding" in the top-right corner as well. Once I put it in the basement and tested it was seemed good. I called Amazon to report this issue and was able to get a courtesy credit for the headache. I would be wary of delivery from CEVA, but the safe seemed better than competitors.

Very nice safe

Large, very heavy and worth the purchase. I prefer the traditional dial combination lock which may not be for everybody in terms of convenience as with a key pad. After being burglarized recently in which the burglar managed to break into my previous safe using my own tools in my garage, I wanted a heavy safe capable of floor mounting and able to fit a reasonable amount of things including important papers, gun and jewelry, etc. I like this safe.

Perfect for my needs

I live in a 1 bedroom apartment and needed some added security without taking up too much floor space. This safe is perfect for my needs, it's heavy enough to make it difficult for any one person to move, and not easily carried off even by 2 people. Perfect size in an out.
