Food Stays at Just the Right Temperature!

Even when you’re stuck at the office, warm chili or creamy soup can bring the comfort of home.
While thermal containers help keep your food warm, their small mouths and narrow design make
them awkward to eat from, clean and fill with food.

Keep lunchtime convenient with the 16 oz Thermal from LunchBots! Your favorite soup, chili or
even oatmeal will stay warm for 4 to 5 hours while other foods like salad or yogurt remain cold
and ready to eat. But what truly makes our Thermal special is its bowl-shape design. The wide
mouth makes it easy to fill up and eat from, so just grab a spoon and dig in!

Unlike other insulated containers, this Thermal boasts a 2-cup capacity that holds a full meal! It’s
ideal for adult-sized appetites and perfect for chucky stews or rice bowls. And thanks to the leak
proof design, you can grab it on your way out the door or drop it in your kid’s backpack with no
spills and no messes!

You can always count on LunchBots for innovative, high quality designs! Our full 18/8 stainless

Beware -- mold trap!
by Mom of 3 (1 out of 5 stars)
April 23, 2016

I purchased this container in March of 2015 and have sent it to school with my 7-year-old son almost daily. I loved it until today. It has never leaked and although it doesn't keep contents as warm as I'd like, this wasn't a big concern for us. Given the company's clear description of what to expect as far as how much heat it will retain, this came as no surprise.

I am, however, LIVID about what I just found on and around the silicone seal inside the lid. While hand washing the lid, I noticed some moisture leaking from the area between the seal and lid. This worried me and I peeled the seal off. BLACK MOLD (please refer to pictures). This is an absolute health hazard. My son has been complaining of stomach pains daily for the past few months and I will closely monitor whether removing this from his lunch repertoire helps. I'm a long time user (thanks savvy people!), first time reviewer on Amazon and felt it the only right thing to do to log in and alert others about what I found today. I can't be the only parent unknowingly sending this mold-leeching container to school with their kiddos.

Excellent Containers!
by saini (5 out of 5 stars)

We needed a container that could comfortable hold a serving of soup/stew for the kids (and us!). The shape of the container makes it easy to have a bowl of soup at school or work. The 10oz containers from Thermos worked extremely well, but were a bit small. And some of them have a smaller opening at the top, which makes it difficult to spoon out everything inside.

The LunchBots container stays warm just as long as the Thermos containers. NOTE : Make sure not to over tightened the lid. Spin it on until it just gives a bit of resistance and maybe give it another quarter turn. It will still feel relatively lose, but if when turned upside down it won't leak. And it will get a little tighter as the pressure continues to build from the heat of the contents.

Currently in the trash
by Hillary (2 out of 5 stars)

I bought a couple of these for lunch boxes and have had them for over a year now. This week I had enough and threw them both in the trash.

Pros: sturdy construction, cleans up nicely in the dishwasher or by hand, doesn't retain food odors

Cons: doesn't keep food hot, lids are too big

I follow directions. I preheated the thermos with boiling water, heated the food beyond the point where you could eat it without blisters on your tongue and put the lid on without over tightening. The food stays mildly warm at best. Also the large lid is ridiculously difficult to get on and off. I have had issues getting the threads aligned to get the lid on in the first place. Once on, you can't get these suckers off. My high schooler texted me yesterday complaining she couldn't get the lid off and the teachers helping my youngest have just as much trouble. The other day, I couldn't get the lid off a fully cooled thermos and had to wait for my husband to get home since my hands apparently aren't large enough to grip it for removal. I wouldn't purchase again.

Has Flaws But Good Concept
by Drava (4 out of 5 stars)

I really like that these are stainless steel AND that the part of the cover that touches the food is as well. What I don't like is that these will vacuum seal if you tighten the lid too much, so it's almost impossible to unscrew. And the diameter is too wide for my "on-the-smaller-side" hands, which makes it that much more difficult to open. BUT if you don't tighten it enough, the thermos will leak. I wish they'd redesign this to keep the same volume, but increase the length so it wouldn't be as wide.

Doesn't keep the food hot (within 4 1/2hours)
by Cossy P. (2 out of 5 stars)
November 10, 2015

I had high hopes for this container since I wasn't happy with the durability of the Thermos brand. It kept the food HOT for more than 6hrs like it claimed but the lid broke apart. The LunchBots had the perfect size mouth but unfortunately it didn't keep the food HOT much less WARM for my daughter. I tried putting boiling water in it for at least 5mins before I put my daughter's piping HOT food (around 730am) but during lunch at noon she said the food wasn't even warm. So I tried putting boiling water in it longer, warmed up her food super HOT, and the result was the same. As much as I like the looks of it, unfortunately it doesn't perform well as we expected. It is going back as we speak.

My kids love their new lunch containers
by Anne (5 out of 5 stars)
January 8, 2016

My kids love their new lunch containers. They like the colors (blue and green) and design and that it can hold enough food for their ages. They also like that the wide opening makes the food look more 'presentable' and appetizing and it's easier for them to get the food out. For me, also easier to clean than the deeper cylinder ones (the rubber ring on the lid can be taken out to wash and dry which is great! I just hope it wont' get loose soon). I seldom have time to 'preheat' the containers in the morning but just dump hot food right in. The kids said the food is still 'hot enough' at lunch time. The only thing is, if I put dry food (like burritos) in, I was told the wrapping became a bit moist, perhaps from the vapor from the hot stuffing inside (I cut the burrito into 2 or 3 pieces to fit in) but I think it would be same for other types of food container too. Overall, I'm happy with the purchases as now I can put more different types of food in (from mac n cheese, noodle to salad and hot sandwiches) to satisfy my kids' different requests for lunch.

Nice option for hot lunch
by Dan A Passannante (5 out of 5 stars)
November 16, 2015

Nice option for hot lunch. It is low and wide, more like a bowl than other thermoses, so works well for soup, chili, etc. It holds a hearty portion. Great product for a teen or adult. Do not recommend this version for smaller kids as the lid is too wide for them to open by themselves and it takes up too much room in a small lunch box.
3/25/16 update: just bought two more, one as a gift and one to replace the one my high schooler lost. Still really happy with these. So wish I has known about them several years ago as they have really opened up more lunch options for my school age kids.

Also, want to address the person who pried off the rubber gasket, why did you do that and how did it get so gross to start with? I have not had any problem with the seal nor felt the need to disassemble it. To clean the lid, simply pop it in the dishwasher.

so I keep the it to use later when he were older since it was made with a very good quality. Now
by Andrea (1 out of 5 stars)

I brought it in 2015, and at that time my son was 7. We tried it for his lunch about 5 times and he couldn't open it at all, so I keep the it to use later when he were older since it was made with a very good quality. Now, I've tried one more time again, and It is completely stuck now and I have no way of opening it, It have to throw it to the garbage without even open to get the food out.

It's a shame because it is a very good quality, but it is impossible to open.

Not exactly well insulated
by cc (4 out of 5 stars)
April 16, 2012

The bottom line is the semi-insulated lid transfers heat too well, so the contents get cold quite fast.

Fortunately for me I use it inside a thermal lunch carrier. Unfortunately, I can't fit it inside the insulated part of the carrier.

I pack hot lunches almost every day, using the zojirushi lunch carrier. It lacks a well insulated lid, and its containers are not insulated either. So I looked for a container to improve my lunches.

Lunchbots had almost the right measurement, at 4.5" dia. it would've fit perfectly (the zojirushi mr version), but unfortunately the cap which measures 5" dia. gets in the way.

No matter, I sacrificed the top two containers from the carrier for this one.

It will do for now, but I'll continue my search for a better lunch carrier.

Underwhelmed...does not keep food hot
by Jeanne (2 out of 5 stars)
May 27, 2017

Unfortunately I had really high hopes for this product and keeping my food warm for a few hours. I am on the road a lot and so not have access to a microwave. I had hoped to use this for food I would pre heat in the microwave and take with me. It cost more than any of the others and so I thought price would equal value. Does not keep things hot at all. I may has well spent half the price for a regular container.
