Product Description

The Tuff-Guard is a 100-foot kink-proof garden hose assembly with 5/8" male and female Garden Hose Thread (GHT) connections for use in watering and wash-down applications. The garden hose has a thermoplastic elastomer (TPE) tube for increased flexibility and easy maneuvering around the garden, and its internal braided core is made out of two-ply spiral polyester fiber for added strength. A polypropylene double helix coils around the hose’s exterior for dimensional stability that helps resist kinking and crushing to maintain full water pressure while compressed. The double helix design also helps protect the hose from abrasion, is weather resistant, and weighs less than traditional hoses for easier portability.

Heavy-duty brass ferrules connect the garden hose to its end connectors. The ferrules are internally expanded instead of crimped to the hose to preserve its 5/8” internal diameter for optimum water flow and to prevent leakage. The garden hose has a male GHT connection on one end for attaching sprayers or sprinklers and a female GHT connection on the opposite end of the hose for connecting to male-threaded water spigots. The connectors’ machined brass provides corrosion resistance and strength to prevent crushing, and their design permits wrench tightening and loosening. The garden hose has a maximum working pressure of 100 pounds per square inch (psi), a burst pressure of 300 psi, and a vacuum rating of 29 inches of mercury (inHg). It has a temperature range of -20 degrees F to 158 degrees F and comes with a one-year warranty for workmanship and material defects. This Tuff-Guard extra flexible garden hose is suitable for use in lawn watering applications, wash-down tasks at worksites or home residences, and various other uses.

Rarely do I write reviews but please read before purchasing. Can't contact them on their website no

I have large property and bought 5 hoses as I liked the no-kink factor and brass fittings. I spent the most money I have ever spent on hoses for and I am very disappointed. Every single hose I purchased starting leaking at the brass connector right under the lip. I contacted manufacturer originally and they replaced saying that they had known defects in manufacturing and they changed system to fix. I thought that is good service and appreciated. Within months the same thing happened, so I assume its just a defective design. Typical hose menders don't work to fix problem because of the swirling pattern of the ribbing. I am going to try Orbit MALE SUPER BRASS HOSE MENDER to see if this will fix my ends. Bottom line is the hose is excellent; for burst proof, abrasion and no-kink but the primary job of a hose is to not leak and this brand fails miserably and is expensive - so I would avoid buying.

Tuff Guard The Imperfect Garden Hose
by George W (1 out of 5 stars)

Okay, I hate doing this because initially I thought this was a great hose. So great, that I bought three of them. First one burst at the fitting--I fixed it, and it held up fine. Second one, same thing. I fixed it, and it held up fine. So, why did I buy the third? Because there must be something wrong with me! But, I really like this hose because it is so sturdy, and really doesn't kink. The first one actually sprung a leak, just behind the repair I made to the fitting--pinhole leak. I threw it away. The second one blew in the middle of the run. I fixed it--for a while--then dumped that one. the third one, a one hundred footer, is still working with no problems--so far. For the price of these things, I could keep myself in "cheap" hoses for quite a while. I e-mailed the company the problems. They, of course, wanted a receipt. Well, I bought 'em on Amazon, they are beyond "return" status, and I just can't get into the "process", if you know what I mean. Too bad, the company needs to solve the fitting issue. When you see how it's made you can appreciate the difficulty in making a tight fitting due to the heavy "ring" construction. Nevertheless, they shouldn't sell it the way it is.

Not the Perfect Garden Hose
by S. J. Bollin (2 out of 5 stars)
July 15, 2017

I have owned this hose for two years. Purchased after a review and recommendation by Family Handyman. The hose itself has been great - no kinks as advertised. Unfortunately I now know why the company only offers a 1 year waranty. Yesterday the male end of the hose blew off while wound up in the hose reel. I have a private well and water pressure is nowhere near the hose maximum pressure rating. Fortunately my son was home so he turned the water off. Now I have to figure out how to put in a replacement end. Advice regarding this hose - it is kink-proof and very tough. But FAR from perfect. Looking at other reviews, this problem is not unusual. Since it is not within warranty, I won't bother trying to contact the company. Giving it two stars because the hose iteslf is holding up well. However, without reliable ends, it is pretty useless. My assessment is that it is a good hose, but not worth the money I paid for it.

DO NOT BUY THIS HOSE
by Jay C (1 out of 5 stars)

Would give this hose no stars if I could. Punctured near the hose connection within a week. I figured it was a fluke so I fixed it. Punctured again a little further down the hose. It really didn't puncture it blew a pin hole. Cut and repaired again. Just using it today and it blew out again. I'm done with this hose. It's a soft Silicone type material wrapped in coiling plastic. It is lightweight and does not tangle. If it can't flow water reliably the other benefits are moot. Heading to the garbage pail with it.

Great hose for light use.
by I read (3 out of 5 stars)

Have had 3 of these in different sizes for almost 4 years. The 2 I use on a normal basis have ripped at the connectors several times now. Each time I have replaced the them with different repair connectors. It is odd shape (like a vacuum hose) for the standard repair hardware. Plastic seemed to last longest but each time it slowly created bubbles right before the connector and exploded when left under pressure for too long. Time depended on project. They sprung small pinhole like leaks in random parts of them as well. The smallest hose is still in decent shape with original hardware because it is not used often.

The good: these are light, easy to untangle and put on a reel. Great water flow and will not kink at all. They take less effort to deal with then standard hoses. I don't really regret buying these and I will keep repairing them (yearly with moderate use on average) but I am replacing my main 100 ft hose with a different type then this. I need something more dependable for heavier use.

I'd rather have the kinks
by Book Buff (1 out of 5 stars)

This hose might be kink proof but it IMPOSSIBLE TO HANG OR COIL - it has to be in one direction and it CONSTANTLY is not so you have to wrestle with it to make sure it is uncoiled in one direction. IT IS AWFUL - and it's heavy - this is the worst hose I have EVER purchased. I'm an older woman and I would like to just pitch it but it's my 100 ft hose and I cannot afford to keep replacing hoses. DO NOT BUY unless you want to swear a lot and wrestle with a hose which makes all chores at least double in amount of time it takes to do them.

Nothing Short of Phenomenal
by N. P. (5 out of 5 stars)

This review is essentially the same as I wrote for my purchase of the 50' hose. I bought the 50 footer in May and loved it so much I purchased the 100' one. I did not have any problems with either hose that other reviewers have complained of. If this hose continues to function without problems, I will never buy the standard hose again. Why? If you are tired of struggling and fighting with garden hose tangles, knots, kinks, weight and coiling it up for storage then this hose is for you. This hose does everything as advertised. This hose is not kink 'resistant' - it simply will not and cannot be kinked and it is light as a feather. You do not have to constantly fight with it as you drag it around. And all the advantages of this hose are in effect regardless of whether the faucet is turned on or the water is off. The hose is 'ribbed' with an exterior spiral spine but they do not snag as yet on anything. Another cool aspect of this hose is that when you are done, it has coil memory so it is incredibly easy to coil it back up compactly (!) and you do not have to struggle with twisting the hose so it doesn't bend up while looping it up for storage. The hose composition is such that when you need to pull it around for use (uncoil it), you do not fight with this hose bending, kinking, knotting and wanting to coil back up at all! One rule I follow when I am done with any hose is once you have turned it off, you should turn on whatever is attached to it and let it empty to relieve the pressure in the hose. Bottom line...It is well worth the money and a good price through Amazon (GO AMAZON!!!!)

Leaking Tuff-Guard Perfect Garden Hose, JGB Enterprises will not honor warranty
by Elise (1 out of 5 stars)
May 23, 2017

We purchased two 100-foot lengths of this hose about 10 months ago. Though used lightly and not abused, one hose has sprung a leak at the outward end, within the brass fitting. We see no way to repair it. The package said it has a one-year warranty, but after emailing to JGB Enterprises, we got back an email saying that they do not handle warranty repairs and to contact Amazon.

That has proved very difficult though we are trying. We have owned many different hoses over many years and have never had one spring a leak like this hose has. Our recommendation would be -- do not buy this hose.

NOT AT ALL HAPPY
by CJ M. (1 out of 5 stars)

So far, everything as promised. Light, easy to manipulate around the yard and recoils easily. Found it a little pricey, but compared to buying several other hoses at $40+ that kink, I guess it is a value. MY ORIGINAL REVIEW ABOVE. Since purchasing the hose, I used it two summers. I got the hose out this week and when I turned on the water, the hose burst near the end. I phone Amazon and their warranty is out. I phoned the manufacturer and they warrant their hoses for one year. For $100 I would expect a better warranty. I have hoses that are five years old that I paid $35 for that are still in decent shape. The manufacturer was pleasant with their response, but referred me to a parts store where I can purchase repair parts. The least I would expect is that they would have repair items to either send to customers or sell. Evidently they must have more broken hoses than I would have expected, or they would stand behind the product better. Purely my opinion as a consumer and a gardener who uses my hose fairly regularly in the summers. I would recommend a far cheaper hose than one that costs almost $100 and does not last two years.

This is an added element to my review as of 2017. The hose still works, however, I have gone through three hose end bibs trying to find one that will fit. NONE do. I have purchased expensive ones and cheap ones and neither work on this product. The problem is the ribbing in the hose itself...it adds so much to the diameter none of the end repair bibs will fit over the hose. I tried cutting the rib off, but then the integrity of the hose is lost and the rubber bursts as soon as you turn the hose end off (any pressure causes the rubber to burst). I have decided to trash the hose after three summers of use...maybe 50 hours total...so calculating it out, about $2 per hour cost. Do not buy this product. You, too, will be disappointed and unhappy.

I finally decided to try a commercial repair option for this hose. Carefully trimmed the end, placed the new brass end inside the hose and screwed down the hose clamp that is designed to clamp pressure to the brass fitting....as soon as I turned the hose on with the spray nozzle closed, the hose burst for the fourth or fifth time....what a wast of almost $100. Do NOT buy this hose. I have finally given up and it is in the trash can.

What a F'in disappointment! I loved this hose and now it's useless ...
by modenajon (1 out of 5 stars)
August 22, 2015

I bought this September 29th 2014, so I've almost had this $90 hose for 1 year. Well......it just sprung a nasty leak at the front where the hose connects to the brass. It happened today. What a F'in disappointment! I loved this hose and now it's useless and it's the same damn complaint everyone else had. I didn't think it would happen to me. If this didn't happen, I'd rate it 4 stars because if you keep it wrapped up on a hose hanger, the coils tend to stay in it. Now I will call the company and see what they can do for me....or else my wife will kill me because this hose was $90. lol
