Good Quality. Great prop for Halloween. Worth the $$$by R. Harper-Wells (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this to re-paint and make a version of Fionna's pink crystal sword for Halloween. It worked perfectly! The plastic can be spray painted without primer and the sword is very light to carry. The length and size fit neatly slotted down my back between my back and my backpack for when I didn't want to carry it (hands free). It's a bit smaller because it's meant for children but I thought it was a great base prop for a Cosplay or Halloween costume. I was extremely happy with the results.
The swords are NOT dirty, as claimed, it's patina

Bought this sword for my 5 year old son. It is very well made. It's hard plastic, not foam. Some reviews say the sword arrived dirty and used looking. Apparently people can't tell the difference between dirt and what is supposed to be patina. They are confused. The swords are not "dirty", they used something on the sword to try to create a patina. Of course, with it being plastic, it will wash off, however it IS NOT dirt. The sword is well worth the price. If your kid is an Adventure Time fan, they will love it. I would certainly buy it again. Simply ignore the negative reviews that say the sword is dirty. Some people simply shouldn't write reviews.
Interesting blade.

I was expecting a firm foam blade but discovered when the sword arrived that it is made entirely of hollow plastic. It makes me a bit nervous to swing around for fear of it cracking or disconnecting from the handle. The picture shows more contrast on the blade than the actual product. Expect it to be a solid bright yellow color all the way through with a smeared muddy water brown color very lightly applied. VERY lightly so that it looks more like it was dug out of A New Orleans basement after Katrina went through and dried off with a muddy rag. I think I would have preferred just the plain yellow than the "old used toy" look. This seller was the best I could find and gave the fairest price for the product.
Confused or Used

I was a big confused when I received this product as the handle of the sword was in the normal packaging, but had clear tape on its edges, the sword part was wrapped in saran wrap, but the "cuts" along it were filthy.
I'm not sure if I received a used product, or if it was in storage for a bit. Either way, after a little wash it was ready to use and will be a great addition to a toddler Finn costume for Halloween.
The Keyboard is Mightier than the Sword

Sturdy. Handle can get scratched up if the sword is dropped to the sidewalk due to fear of your opponent with the same sword. Handle is easy to grip, and blade is made to look intentionally gritty with grime and/or old, dried blood. The blade is a tiny, tiny bit loose at the point where it is anchored in the hilt, but I am not sure if this is due to fighting action or if it came that way. I will say, someone at Amazon did take out of one of our swords' packaging the card that identifies the sword as an "Adventure Time" sword, so I hope karma gets him or her. Hey, I paid for it. That was my cardboard, darnit! Anyway, these swords are not foam, as my husband thought (great investigating, sweetie). Don't get me wrong- I am from the era of plastic He-Man swords, plastic Beastmaster swords, plastic cheapo swords, and the free, culled-from-nature sword stick. All these aforementioned swords will give you a hell of a intentional or unintentional whack, as well as the one that I am reviewing. It's just that when they arrived and I informed my husband that the swords were plastic, he did not want my girls to have any sword fights because: 1.) He was worried about transferring of pain, and 2.) He had read a review that claimed that the paint on the sword was scraped off during fights. My analyzation of his above worries are/were: 1.) Pain is a constant part of life. We also met a father in Toys R Us near some foam swords, and he said that they can give you a heck of a whack, and 2.) The sword blades are plastic that was dyed at the factory- they are not painted whatsover. The hilts have small painted areas that can possibly become scratched from general life, but unless you are holding the sword upside-down during fights, your sword will be O.K. You can find these swords at Toys R Us. Price is somewhat O.K. here at Amazon; do your homework. Later, dudes.
Tried and tested with my kids

My kids love these for some reason and they are not big fans of Adventure time. I got one for the youngest because he wanted to spend his birthday money on a sword - and he liked the look of this one. Then the oldest wanted one... so he put up the $20 or so for this sword.
Light weight, but seem strong. Not broken yet... and it's been a few months....
Great For Kids And Kids At Heart

I bought this most convincing Finn sword as an accessory to my Finn costume for a comic convention, and it served its purpose above and beyond what I expected it to.
Quick breakdown: the sword is two feet long from handle to tip. A broadsword in the hands of a child, a short sword in the hands of a twenty-something in costume. It's made of a very strong and thick plastic material, stronger than the average toy sword. Very durable for kids who play rough. Visually, it's quite appealing, it looks just like Finn's sword from the first season of the show: nicks, dents and all.
If you're buying this for your young one, bravo. It's a durable toy they can effortlessly use in their envisioned misadventures roleplaying as Finn out in the back woods behind the house. I wouldn't recommend it to children who like hitting other children, though, because getting hit with this thing will definitely hurt. As another reviewer pointed out, the educational value is all in the imagination. It's the same as giving a child a stick and telling them it's a sword, except that now it's got the right look and feel to it for them to envision slaying demon tentacle chickens atop the rim of a brimming volcano.
For cosplayers, this sword is great. Lightweight when carrying it in your awesome green backpack, but in your hand it feels very sturdy and worth thrusting to the heavens as you pose for photo requests. It helped me win "fan favorite" in a costume contest, if that means anything to you.
It's a bit pricy at over $20, but if you've got both the money for it and the desire for it, I say go for it. A fine toy in the right hands.
SCAM!! DO NOT BE FOOLED (REPACKAGED)

SCAM
Product came with odd red/brown spots that were very hard to come off and not in the advertised image. Along with this, the packaging came taped and beaten up, not a good sign. Disgusted by the marks that were very clearly not meant to be there. VERY bad product quality. Would not buy or recommend. It was like it was used or repackaged even though it said new.

Sturdy and well made. My son used this for Finn the Human for Holloween. He said it was the best sword.
Cool yet disappointing

It's cool I suppose but it definitely isn't impressive. Also, they just tossed it in a box and shipped it. I understand that its plastic but it doesn't need to bounce around in a large box. My husband still loves it so that's all that matters
