High-quality, flexible lighted leash for big dogs
by Elizabeth (5 out of 5 stars)
March 8, 2016

I'm a huge fan of all of the running trails in and around the Washington DC metro area (our current home) and the San Francisco Bay Area (our former and future home), but coming from NYC, I was surprised and disappointed to find that the vast majority of trails in both of these cities are unlit. D'oh.

I highly recommend this leash for anyone who runs well-traveled commuter trails in the dark and needs that extra little bit of visibility. This leash isn't bright enough to light your way (I wear a headlamp for that), but it alerts other runners/walkers and especially cyclists to the presence of my big dog. Unlike other LED leashes we've tried, this one is lightweight and feels like a high-quality leash that just happens to light up, instead of a stiff extension cord that just happens to double as a leash. One week in, it's held up to all of the twisting and pulling of my 100lb Alaskan Malamute (who's usually very well-behaved on leash but has his moments) and the switch, while easy to access, isn't so easy to hit that I'm constantly turning it off by accident. We get lots of compliments and it's a real conversation starter for passersby of all kinds, including a guy who told me he wished more people used these - he'd almost hit a leashed dog with his car the night before, because the owner had crossed the street and the dog was lagging behind on a retractable leash. Crazy.

My only complaint (with all LED pet leashes and collars) is that it isn't machine washable so it never really gets completely clean, and I wish they made a version for smaller dogs - it's fine for my Malamute, but the weight of it is way too much for my miniature dachshund, who's fitted with flashing LED bike lights, instead. :)

Worked great for about 10 months...
by RunnerGirl (3 out of 5 stars)
September 23, 2015

Update: great while it lasted. Started to dim, went and bought new batteries, replaced, does not work any longer. Now it's basically just a leash. Going to try tofind something else to keep my dog visible at night. Three stars because for the 10 months it worked, it worked well. Original review below...

Great for night walks with my 70+ lb. black lab mix. She's hard to see at night, and this helps her show up. She wears a harness when walking, and so far, no problems when she pulls on leash. It's flexible, though not as flexible as a regular nylon leash. I am able to twist it around my wrist if I need to shorten it when we walk on sidewalks. We walk on fairly busy streets for traffic, and this allows cars to see us better, and also allows walkers & bikers to see her at night, so that they are not startled. I get a lot of compliments, and people agree, this helps keep my pup visible. I like that I can choose flashing lights, steady on, or turn lights off. The leash comes with an extra battery. There is a switch that you can turn off light entirely, which helps so that leash will not turn on inadvertently and waste battery. I have had this for several months now, and it is still in good condition. I only use this leash at night, which may extend use.

Was great for 2 months, but then wiring had issues....
by K. Molloy (3 out of 5 stars)

I loved this leash for the first 2 months! It was fantastic for walking my four-legged friend after dark. I really appreciated the extra set of batteries sent with the leash, and I did need to replace the batteries after the first month. However, within about a week of starting to use it, one of the LED lights died. After about 2 months of use, the wiring seems to have come partially disengaged or something. In order to get the leash to light at all, I have to bed and twist it at the battery compartment/power hub. IT is not a battery issue, as it will light if it is twisted exactly perfectly, though it hurts my hand to hold it like that. I wish this would work again, as it is a fantastic idea and seems to be one of a kind. I have requested a refund from the seller, and intend to purchase another one in hopes that it will work longer this time.

Avoid the Disappointment - Do Not Buy
by UhOhBadDog (2 out of 5 stars)

I purchased the Fishbones version of this item on 10/3/15. Leash is still so new, that the folds in the nylon have not yet relaxed from original shipment. To be clear, I love the intent of this product, but it does not deliver. Product didn't last two months, with not more than fifteen uses in that time. The lights no longer illuminate. Battery replacement predictably yielded no change. Suspect the internal wiring is not suitable to the use. Given that the illumination is what sets this product apart from others (and justifies the premium price), I find this absolutely unacceptable. Now I simply have an expensive leash. Contacted Dog-E-Glow in an effort to resolve, and they put the blame on Amazon since my order was fulfilled by Amazon.

Quick to Break
by D.J. (1 out of 5 stars)
November 17, 2015

I purchased this product to give us more visibility on our walks when it's dark. The product does a great job making you and your pet visible when it works. I have replaced the product twice due to malfunction. Because I purchased it through Amazon, the customer service contact made it more sound as though I was getting a favor by them replacing a product sold through Amazon rather than another retailer or themselves. After multiple email exchanges, the product was replaced both times. BOTH replacements also broke!

It seems that the connection between the battery pack and the lights is fragile and can easily come detached during normal use (I'm not running with this leash, just standard walks around the block). I live in the Seattle area, it does not get to an extreme cold situation where the wires should become brittle enough to break easier. Im not exactly sure what causes the issue but I can say that I would not recommend purchasing this product unless there are updates to make it less likely to break.

Cool leash
by BCStargazer (5 out of 5 stars)

We have a jet black dog that literally dis appears after dark. She can be 3 feet away and invisible. This leash solves that problem. It appears to be fairly well manufactured. The leash around the lights is tough enough to protect the lighting/electrical. I would think a dog could chew through it and destroy it but that's not what it's for. It takes two 2032 button cells and has lasted a month without replacing yet. She gets two walks a day in the dark for about 45-50 minutes total. There is a on/off switch in addition to an on/blink fast/blink slow/steady glow and off again button. Works well for visibility both for the dog and driver. Not to mention it's quite fashionable as well! ;~)

So far this leash has been working great, and I've had it for over a month
by Andreya Samuel (4 out of 5 stars)

So far this leash has been working great, and I've had it for over a month. The lights make it so people know I'm walking my little black dog out at night. I just really wish it wasn't so long though. For a Papillon mix, 6 feet is way too much. I have to double it over just to not make it drag on the ground, since he doesn't walk too far ahead of me. I even used it for my brother's dog, who is an Anatolian Shepherd mix, and it still felt too long. When walking dogs I like them somewhat near me, not 6 feet in front of me.

Nice, long leash
by Alabaman (5 out of 5 stars)
December 25, 2014

My husband is out walking the dog with it right now. The nicest things: Six feet long for my tall family; cute print; LEDs light up continuously or flashing for walking at night; comes with extra batteries! It's a nice leash. The backside of it appears to be reflective, but it's hard to tell here in broad daylight .... Later -- it's not reflective on the other side. However, the dog and the dog walkers love it!

Cool leashes!
by Kristyfree (4 out of 5 stars)
May 27, 2015

The first night we walked with these we were so popular! People kept asking where we got them and that we were so cool looking from far away! I do however wish they were a tad brighter to light up the floor well you walk. But all in all they do there job! Drivers saw me and my pups walking and that's all I really wanted!

Super stylish

I have all the other matching sets and just had to have this for my little nyc diva. Get compliments every night on the matching leash and collar with nice bright lights that cover the entire length. Of the leash, not just halfway like the cheaper versions from overseas.

Definitely a must have for anybody with a diva dog like me who walk every night. Will always get a comment on how cute it is.
