Great gift idea.by Amazon Customer (5 out of 5 stars)

I bought this for my five-year-old nephew, as a socially-friendly alternative to playing Mario video games. He absolutely loves it. It's a complete strategy game, which uses purely visual logic and reasoning to win, with rules and principles even little kids can grasp.
The only complaint is the small parts, which I imagine are easily lost. But isn't this true for most games and toys?
As a teacher, I think this game is awesome. Cheating is virtually impossible. You win by using your brain power, plain and simple. While video Tetris is also worthwhile, the video version relies more on speed. This physical version gives players more time to stop and think before placing a game piece.
My only regret is that I didn't buy one for myself, as well.
My new favorite family game

I am a bit of a Tetris addict and was more than enthusiastic when I discovered that this game existed. It is a combination of Tetris and Connect Four. The goal of the game is to connect 3 (or more) of your Tetriminos to gain more points than your opponents. On your turn you roll the game dice to determine which piece to use, making the game feel more like traditional Tetris where you are also not able to choose your Tetrimino shape.
I received this game as a Christmas gift in 2012 and have played it many times since then. My family enjoys this game so much that my father asked for his own copy this past Christmas. (Which of course I bought for him.) I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys basic strategy family games. It is great for playing with children and adults alike. I have taken it with me while babysitting second-graders before. The box suggests ages 6+ and that seems to be an accurate guideline. Children old enough to understand Tetris should be able to grasp the basics of this game. Plus at the end of each game the board has intriguing and colorful designs for children to admire. :)
The game pieces need to be arranged semi-strategically in order to close the box properly but I have found this to be true for most board games. Luckily, the color sets come with individual bags, which is nice for avoiding the messiness that a lot of board games fall into when stored. One negative is that the box itself is not super sturdy, so I don't recommend placing this game box under other board games (especially not heavy ones). Like Connect Four, the base of the game board is removed when stored in the box.
Fun game, poor packaging

You don't have to be a Tetris fan to understand or enjoy the game. I've only played this game with 2 people and its surprisingly fun. I can see game play getting a bit complected with more players than that since there would be a lot more strategy to plays. You would also have to be constantly swiveling the board for 3+ players through so everyone can have table space for their tetris pieces and see the board's layout.
The good: The game was a fun (a bit more competitive than I thought) and over in about 10 minutes with 2 players. The scoring mechanism is very easy to keep track of each player's score.
Here is the bit that I don't like: The quality is extremely poor for $30! I'm very glad I picked it up on sale otherwise, I would have been disappointed. The tetris pieces and the game board are made of flimsy plastic. A storage spacer is actually provided so the clear plastic front/back don't warp or crack while the game is stored. The box it comes it really has no good organization for storage. The feet that hold up the board actually have to be removed every time the game board is put back into the box or else it wont fit! The instruction manual suggests to keep all the original packaging (brown cardboard and plastic bags) so pieces don't get lost. I was hoping for a bit of a more elegant storage solution, but I guess this works.
Speaking of the instruction manual, it took me several moments to understand what was going on. Its folded up like a book (only one sheet), but the instructions started at what would be the "last" page. So, read it with an open mind about the instruction manual's layout. (or maybe I'm just reading way too much into that folded piece of paper)
In all, its a fun game, but it has a cheap quality feel to it. I would recommend this game ONLY if you aren't paying full price.

So glad I got this game. I LOVE it!!! A cross between Connect 4 and Blockus. I highly recommend everyone to get this game if it is available. We have played it so much I want to make sure each of my kids has one to take with them to college!! Do yourself a favor and just buy it.
My daughter kicks our butts in this game

This is a really clever take on an old classic. It feels a lot like playing Connect 4 but it's more fun.
One tip, we felt like the game didn't properly reward people for creating big connected shapes instead of many small connected shapes so we put in a new rule (my daughter is the queen of connecting one or two giant shapes throughout the whole game). Also, this will make more sense when you've read the rules and played a couple games. A shape must have 3 connected pieces to get *any* points for it so assuming that our scoring looks like this:
3 connected pieces: 3 points
4 connected pieces: 4 points
5 connected pieces: 5 points
6 connected pieces: 7 points (the normal 6 + 1 bonus point)
7 connected pieces: 8 points (the normal 7 + 1 bonus point)
8 connected pieces: 9 points (the normal 8 + 1 bonus point)
9 connected pieces: 11 points (the normal 9 + 2 bonus points)
10 connected pieces: 12 points (the normal 10 + 2 bonus points)
11 connected pieces: 13 points (the normal 11 + 2 bonus points)
12 connected pieces: 15 points (the normal 12 + 3 bonus points)
...and so on for every 3 the shape gets bigger.
So if you had one shape that was 9 connected pieces and another that was 5 connected pieces the game would normally score you at 14 points, but we would give 11 points for the 9-piecer and 5 points for the 5-piecer (a total of 16 points). Anyway, hope someone out there finds that rule helpful. :)

This game is so fun! We try to keep our kids off the computer/tablet/game system as much as possible, and games like this are an awesome way to entertain (and educate!) them. Basically, this is the real-life, tactile version of Tetris you can play on a hand-held game. But be careful not to wedge the pieces in incorrectly--they are difficult to get out and a few have gotten permanently stuck. So keep toddlers away! :-)
Fun alternative to the video game

We purchased this game for our six-year son for Christmas. He has never played the video game, but loves this "hands-on" version quite a bit. Reading through the rules the first time was a little confusing; especially how points are scored. But re-reading them, looking at the examples provided, and actually playing the game helped out a lot.
The user can't simply pick up any Tetris piece they want to make it fit in the puzzle. During your turn, you must roll a die and play the piece it tells you. This makes for more interesting games and strategy does come into play -- especially with more than two people playing. There are five different Tetris shapes (the same as the video game) on the die. The sixth side of the die is a "wild card" in which the player can select any piece they want.
Games last about 10-20 minutes depending on 2 to 4 players. This allows for multiple games in one sitting. No paper or pencils are required to keep score. The vertical game has clips on the side which will keep score for all players.
This is fun, colorful game that kids as well as adults will enjoy. Highly recommended for family game night as an alternative to video games.
Very cool new twist on a tangible tetris!

This is great!!! I love the video game, and now you can hold the pieces in your hands!! The plastic is sturdy, the pieces slide down easy, and come out easy. The scoring is a little cumbersome for younger players, but you can make up your own rules for scoring to make it easier. My only wish for this is a better container to keep the pieces in. This is going to quickly become a classic!
