A great bar addition

Bought these as a gift for my husband for Christmas. They have a nice feel to them. Not too heavy and not too light. They are nice for sipping some vodka or whiskey and help keep the alcohol cold longer. One note: they shipped in a box that had a photo on them on the outside. Luckily, I got to the package first. Could have destroyed the surprise element.

Awesome shot glasses. They were cool right out of the box. Even better from the refrigerator. They look and feel like a quality product.

Great and unusual shot glasses
by Scott Lucas (4 out of 5 stars)

I really like these glasses. They are beautiful and functional, and of course much different than your everyday glass shot glasses. They can be used for tea (for those who want each sip to always be hot, you always drink it in tiny amounts), for liquor, for sake. They can be frozen and keep their cold longer than glass, or they could be set it hot water so that they won't cool down sake as you fill them.

I only took away one star because the fit and finish on them is slightly less than perfect. You can see the milling marks and such, so they may not be *quite* as pictured. They are very close, though, and I'm quite happy with them. I think that to have a stone set of shot glasses at this price is a pretty good deal. The box/packaging is pretty amazing as well, I think I could drop it off the roof and not damage them.

A Different Way to Sip Scotch or other Hard Liquors, With a Bit of a Chill
by Debbie Lee Wesselmann,Top Contributor: Cooking (5 out of 5 stars)

I'm a purist when it comes to fine liquors: I don't like to water them down with water/ice and so drink them neat. That said, I don't "do shots." I like to savor mine. These soapstone shot glasses are good for both purposes, however, whether you like to sip or throw it back. I store them in the freezer to give the alcohol a little chill.

Each "glass" has a 2 ounce capacity, the equivalent of two shots. They are made of soapstone-- a smooth, nonporous material that can freeze without cracking and that doesn't absorb flavor so that each shot (after washing) tastes pure. Right out of the freezer, they don't stick to skin; they also feel cold but not frozen. Don't expect these glasses to substitute for ice. They chill the liquor a little, but don't make it cold.

I notice that the product photograph shows a bottle of sake, and that's funny because that's what I thought these were before I saw the photograph: sake glasses. They have that simple, earthy design that sake glasses often have, unlike the usual Western crystal for whiskeys. I suspect that they've been re-labeled for American drinking habits. If these were really designed as sake glasses, then they should take warmed liquor as well, although I wouldn't recommend pouring warm sake into a frozen shot.

These make a great gift for the liquor-purist who has (most) everything.
