Barnacle iPhone Mount | ||||||||||

Product Description
Barnacle is a gadget mount that can attach your gadget to any slick surface. With two symmetrical suction cups placed at a 45-degree angle from each other, Barnacle can be used on a desk, on a car windshield, or on any slick surface. Barnacle comes in three colors Ð orange, white, and black. iLoveHandles began when two friends who met in architecture grad school Ñ one with a background in graphic design and business, and the other with a background in product design Ñ started collaborating on projects that were clever, fun, and useful. We never meant to be another iPhone accessories company. Sorry about that. We realize most Apple accessories lack creativity and personality Ñ they lack soul. We did not want to make more cases for a phone that does not need a case. We did not want to make more over-designed, over-branded, overdone stuff to piggyback on Apple's success. Not to sound like grumps, but its how we feel. The time and thought Apple invests in its products is obvious. We all share a love of Apple products. After Rock Band (the first watch band designed for iPad nano, by the way), we thought it was time someone created accessories that were equally lovable.Top Reviews
had it a day, already doesn't work well for meby CKYoung (3 out of 5 stars)

I'm using this for an iPod Touch (which is lighter than an iPhone) which has a snap-on case. The suction cup is not able to stay on the case and the iPod falls off.
The good news, though, is that even when it does fall off, it doesn't have far to go and it doesn't slip down much more. The shape of the mount props the iPod up. Which is a little better than other suction-cup style stands that I've tried.
It might work better if I don't use it on the case although I doubt it. And, also, it would be cumbersome to have to take off the case to put it on a stand then put it back on again.
UPDATE: I replaced the iPod Touch with an iPhone 4 (with glider case). I don't trust that this will hold up the phone as pictured. But I've been placing the stand on the phone such that the bottom levels with the side of the phone (holding the phone up with the power jack exposed on the side). This works just fine.
Works, but not forever

These little gadgets are really neat and work very well but don't last forever.
PROS:
Great suction out of the box
can place on any solid surface with suction
very small foot print
CONS:
the suction dies out after a couple of months of use (I used mine every day for three months and I could definitely notice that the suction was not as good)
You can't set the angle, so you are the mercy of the strength of the plastic to get the right viewing angle
doesn't really work with cases very well (or at all in my case) I had to use it on my iPhone directly

He's a great lil sucker. I use it in my car, where the textured interior means it won't stick to anything, except the console of my stereo- which is just big enough. It only lets go if it heats up and the air trapped by the suction expands.
Doesn't hold an iPhone very long

I got a couple of these as a simple solution to mount my iPhone on the windshield of my car. They worked okay at first, but as soon as I hit a bump, my phone fell off and slid across the dashboard or onto the floor. A little water definitely helped it stick longer, but my phone still fell down after an hour or so. After this happened a few more times, I decided these aren't too safe for my phone - especially since it has to be out of the case to stick to the back glass.

But it does what it says, it's just a cheap two ended suction cup. Works ok but I was hoping for sturdier

The concept is great (that's why the 2 stars) but the material is poor and the size is too small to work.

I purchased this for use in the car 2 weeks ago, have mounted it to the dash and connected an iPhone 5 to it. So far it has held for the 4 trips I have utilized it. It works as advertised and for the most part I am happy with it. Now for the BUT: the angle of the cups is not adjustable and the position I have it in makes it tough to read. Because it is a suction cup and it MUST be on a very smooth surface there are limitations to its location, so if your windshield isn't an option you may be limited to where it can be placed and the inability to adjust the angle could be a problem.
There is a little wobble, but hell, you shouldn't be typing on it anyway.
Overall I am satisfied with the product.
Works fine for iPhone 5

Got this today and tried it in my car on the drive home, it held my phone on the windscreen fine. It is perfect for me because I don't want a bulky or permanent mount and would only mount my phone to the windscreen on the odd occasion that I would need the navigation.
It is perfect for adhoc use in your car.
Great in theory

I wanted something to secure my iPhone to the window of my car so I could use it as a GPS. The barnacle is at the wrong angle and it bounces around so much that it is worthless. Very disappointed in this product.
