First off it is imperative that you be physically strong to wield this hammer. I'm an avid weightlifter and this hammers definitely not for the average guy. That aside, anything that connects with the force of this hammer and your swing will be obliterated by the 20lb titan sized head. Bottom line is if you can pick up a 20lb sledge get this one with the 36 in handle because it's built like a tank durability wise and hits just as hard and the 20lb head will obliterate anything on the first hit. This hammer will probably be around after I've passed away.

All about that Handle
by SchoolBiker (5 out of 5 stars)

Not going to lie, I've only swung the 10lbs before..... this 20lbs is in a league of its own.

Made quick work of some Metamorphic-Gneiss Rocks, and didn't feel a thing in my broken wrist ( high vibrations are a killer the day after ) which is the entire reason I bought this one. They don't lie, this handle is made of fairy dust, now its a hefty fairy but a fairy none the less.

If you are going to be swinging this all day, or have bad wrist, No doubt this is the sledge to swing .... even after I destroyed the rocks, I just couldn't stop swinging. To have the Power of Thor in your hands is addictive, the trail of broken rocks left behind me. You just get lost in the swinging, the carnage. Some rocks won't join your cult at first, the resistance. First few strokes land as if the rock is throwing the head back at you ( Drop forged 46 HRC steel ) ,but quickly it becomes a splinter faction. Few more strokes and all that is left is crushed powder.

Yea I'd buy it again, but with the build on this sucker I won't ever have to

Wilton is family now!
by James M. (5 out of 5 stars)

Wilton is now a member of my tool family. I had a garbage sledge that was 6 pounds (isn't that just a cartoon size hammer?) and had to repeatedly strike whatever I was smashing. I hit a 5 gallon bucket of concrete with Wilton once, and it didn't crumble, it shattered. This is also a fantastic driver. if you use a log splitter, you only have to hit it once. This should be the first and last sledgehammer you ever buy.

Wilton, I would love to see the addition of a mattock pickaxe of at least 12 pounds, and if you can make a 20 pound mattock I will pay 500 dollars for it. Thank you for remembering that some people need real tools and not lowe's play tools that can't stand up to the work. I can not express my gratitude enough.

What a BEAST

What a monster, I think I will be nicknaming it Hulk. I'm a modest 6'2" 225lb fella and know my way around a gym. That being said I have never swung a 20lb hammer. The construction looks and fells superior and I did lots of research before I shelled out this about of money for some iron on a stick. I am glad I did, I expect this to be a lifetime purchase. Do some homework first but I recommend it.

Heavy, well built, very effective
by Bulty (5 out of 5 stars)

Well built, heavy duty, very heavy impact! Broke up 6"+ concrete with just a few blows. Being 40 and not quite the shape I was once in, I took a few more breaks than I expected due to the weight of heaving this hammer. But the weight of this thing does most of the work. It would have been far harder or impossible to swing a lighter sledge with enough force to do what this can. The handle is extremely strong and shock absorbing. Slamming a 20 lb head of this 25 lb hammer against solid concrete sent no repercussions up my arms whatsoever. I'm positive I would have broken the head off a wood handled sledge with the job I did today (having done that a couple times previous on other jobs with a lighter sledge and a splitting axe). That said, I'm 6'3" and a bit overweight at mid 230s, I would not recommend this product for those smaller in stature. But I love it!

A _REAL_ sledgehammer!
by Superdog (5 out of 5 stars)

I'd been using a 16 lb. sledge for many years to bust up the occasional rock on our property. This year I'm clearing an area for a shed, and decided to get something a little bigger to (hopefully) break things up a little faster and with fewer hits. I was surprised at first that there aren't really that many options for a 20 lb. sledge. I first purchased one of the same brand as the 14 lb. hammer I have, and had the head came loose on both the original and the replacement. That surprised me because I thought I'd paid enough to get a reasonable quality hammer. In the reviews, I'd seen someone mention this hammer. While I initially balked at the price, I decided that it would be worth it to pay a little (okay, a lot) more if it meant getting something that wouldn't fail. So far this hammer has not disappointed! I love the handle, too; it really helps dampen the vibration when hitting hard, immobile objects.

No better hammer for working out with!

I use this for workouts on a worn out tractor tire. It is built super tough. You can't go wrong with Wilton. I would not hesitate to use it to split stumps with a splitting tool, provided you can can handle the weight of it.

Best of the Best

This is an amazing product. The head is large, heavy (20 lbs), and painted bright green for enhanced viability. THe head has a nice flat top to stay standing up on its own. I have been wrecking anything and everything with it. It is the perfect fit for working out by pounding tires. The grip is solid and comfortable. The shaft is very durable and solidly anchored to the head. I highly recommend this product.

Used it twice to drive T-posts - what a difference 4 pounds makes driving the posts down. Be in shape - this baby gets heavy in a hurry.
