Unsafe Product

I bought this lid three weeks ago-----was very happy with the looks and the fit over my pan. Tonight I sauteed a salmon steak. I turned the heat off and went to ready my place setting when there was an explosion. The glass lid shattered into many pieces ruining the lid and dinner. This product is totally unsafe. If someone was near the stove they would have sustained injuries, As is, I have a big mess to clean up.

LID EXPLODED!!!!!

I received this product as a gift. This morning was my first attempt at using it. I laid some bacon in the pan and covered the pan with the lid. Several minutes into cooking, I removed the lid to turn the bacon over. The heat setting was on the LOWEST setting/ amount of gas possible. I was holding the lid in my left hand and turning the food with my right. I had only turned 2 pieces when there was a very loud POP! The explosion that took place was this lid blowing up in my hand. Glass went flying everywhere. It flew all over the kitchen, all over the counter, covered all of my food with shattered glass, on the counter, and in the pan. I was just standing there holding the lid; it never came into contact with anything! In addition to the shards of glass all over the kitchen, upon exploding, the skin on my wrist was also punctured and bled from the cut. It was about a minute and a half earlier, my 9 y.o. son was standing next to me talking. Had he still been there, it would have exploded in his face!

I am shocked as to how this could happen! This is a lid that is made to cover cooking food! It was not even exposed to extreme heat! This may not be the most expensive or best quality lid on the market but exploding glass is absolutely unacceptable.

Promptly after this happened, I took pictures of all the glass and the cut on my wrist. These photos, and a version of this review, have been sent to support@ozeri.com. At this point, I am scared to use, and have absolutely no interest in a replacement of the same product. Ozeri, can you inform me as to your protocol when someone receives injury from normal and expected use of your product and how you plan on handling this incident, please?

Update: Not so good. Had this sitting on stove and the heat cracked the glass. Can not take the heat!!!!!!

This lid could be dangerous...!

I had this lid for a little over a month, and I used it less than a dozen times. Then today I was sitting in my living room when I heard a big bang coming from my kitchen. I discovered that this lid had exploded. I had cooked with it about 4 hours earlier, but I did not leave anything on. It and the frying pan that it was sitting on both felt to be nothing more than room temperature.......so I have no idea why it exploded...?? I also bought the 12inch lid when I bought this one......so now I'm not sure how I feel about continuing to use it. I have no idea if this was just a fluke ...???....but be warned and read more reviews to see if this has happened to anyone else.

I purchased this lid , used it twice, and in the middle of cooking it exploded and glass was in everything, I contacted the seller but no response. This is unsafe! Do NOT purchase.

Perfect cover for my Farberware (smallest) stainless steel frying pan

I bought a set of Farberware stainless steel pans, and my smallest came without a cover - how thoughtful of Farberware ?

For years I went without a cover for my most used pan. Then I get the bright idea of looking for it on amazon (why did I not think of this sooner?). Thanks to the questions and answers of this page, I had detailed dimensions of the item and what type of pan it will fit. Still, I took a chance, but when it arrived, I was amazed to see that it sits on my little pan perfectly. It is also of premium quality, you can tell it will last a long time.

I must say that I was also impressed with how securely it was packaged. Definitely happy with this purchase.

Yes, I realize that this is a lid that is for a Ozeri 8 inch skillet. However, I decided that I needed an extra 8 inch vented glass lid for another brand and discovered this one on Amazon. So I took a chance and ordered it. And I am so happy with it for these reasons:
1 It fits PERFECTLY on my 8 inch Lodge Cast Iron Skillet. I am so excited because I use this skillet daily.
2 It also fits several of my 8 inch skillets and pans.
3 The vent is wonderful as it prevents boilovers.is great when I sure, dry.

And I use this when I steam things.
4 Handle does not get Hot.
5 Quality is excellent.

I highly recommend this lid.

A Nice Addition To My Green Earth Pan, Could Fit a Little More Snug

I bought the Ozeri Green Earth Frying Pan Lid for my Green Earth 10 inch frying pan. I absolutely love my Green Earth pan (I have the textured series), but was limited in what I could or would cook in it because without a lid, I got hit by grease pops and had a mess to clean up on the stove and the surrounding area. I personally think pans should include a lid and you shouldn't have to buy it separately. I had been eyeing this one and bought it when I saw there was a sale price offered. I am now getting much more use from my pan and I use both the pan and the lid at least once a day, sometimes more.

The lid contains the splatters and allows my to keep an eye on the food without me getting hit with hot grease or oil. There is a vent in the lid and at first I thought it looked a little small and wondered if it would even be effective, but it has been great. The oval shape of the handle is comfortable to hold and keep a firm grip on the lid. The lid is lightweight and easy to handle.

One thing I dislike is the lip/ring aroung the lid is metal and I'm not exactly thrilled that it wasn't made of a material more suited to the Grebulon coating on the pan. I have tried to be careful and haven't noticed it scratching the pan. There were already some scratches from my previous attempts to use a splatter screen and other lids when I needed a cover, but I haven't noticed that this is scratching it worse. I also wish it fit a bit more snug on the pan. There is a small amount of room for the lid to move around.

Having a lid definitely makes it easier to cook and drain of juices or fats when needed and it does contain the splatters and mess that happen without it. At this time, I have had the lid for just about 3 months and haven't had any trouble with it. I have not used the lid in the over I haven't put it in the dishwasher and instead handwash because it's faster since I use the lid every day. It has cleaned up every single time and the glass has remained crystal clear. I love the pans and will be buying more of them. When I do, I won't have any hesitation about buying another lid as well.

Ergonomically designed handle

The ergonomically designed handle is larger and easier to grip than a conventional round knob. It automatically orients the location of the vent hole away from the cook's wrist to prevent accidental scalding from escaping steam. The inner flange of the stainless steel rim measures exactly 7-13/16" to nest nicely inside a conventional 8" pot. The handle is screwed directly to the lid without any intervening washer or adapter, therefore keeping the lid top easier to clean and with an elegant minimalist contemporary design.

Cheaply made, strange steam vent

I'm at a loss to understand the good reviews for this lid which I bought to accompany an Ozeri frying pan. This lid looked cheap when I opened the box and it has a weird steam vent. What the heck? Every other lid on earth does not have a flaky steam vent so that the cooking time is consistent. I read some reviews of this lid and one literally said that it exploded in the customer's kitchen. She goes on to explain how wonderful Ozeri's customer service was, but -- I'm sorry, this strains credibility. If a glass lid exploded in my kitchen, near me or loved ones, I would a) not be writing a recommendation and b) would sue everybody in sight. I am very suspicious of the number of good reviews of Ozeri products at this point, and I find anyone saying that this poorly made lid with the dumb vent that sometimes explodes to be suspect. I threw the lid and pan out, not even bothering to return it. A typical meal I've made in many Calphalon and Circulon pans sort of exploded out of this pan this evening, with sauce and food particles falling off the lid onto the floor. A regular metal lid doesnt do this, nor does the solid glass lid from an IKEA pan I have. No more Ozeri products for me.
