Great knife!

I gave this to a friend for Christmas and he was tickled. I liked it so much I bought one for myself. Here's what I wrote on the card and I think it sums up this knife perfectly: "Not best knife and not the best flashlight but it IS the best that's both." This item is PERFECT to keep the the glove box of your car or to strap on your belt for a day-hike that may finish after the sun goes down. It's a regular, decent quality lock-blade knife with a thumb tab for 1-handed opening. The belt sheath is great, it holds the knife snug, has good velcro on the flap and a strong clip for your belt. The 6 led lights positioned at the front of the handle throw good light in a pool out to about a foot in front of the tip of the blade in case you have to chop cut something at your campsite after dark and they put out enough light to peer under the couch in search of that missing remote. Of note, the handle is a bit larger then I thought it would be. Maybe a tad smaller then an iPhone. At first I didn't like the size but I quickly got used to it and don't find it a bother. Remember, this isn't a tactical knife or something for specialty work. It's a 2-in-1 tool so there have to be a few compromises. It's really a 4.5 star item but I upped it to 5 for the cool factor.

Bought as a gift for my dad who has absolutely everything. He was a little hesitant at first because he had never heard of a knife/light combo but now he says he will never be without it. He has used it so much on his lease and says it's great for finishing up cleaning in the dark or cutting away small brush when driving his 4-wheeler. The light is impressively bright for being so small and the on off button is positioned in a way that you won't mistakenly turn it on running the battery down. It includes double A batteries and is ready to use right out of the box. It's not bulky or heavy like other knives and even comes with a sheath that can be attached to your belt. I will be purchasing another for myself just because I could see so many uses beyond the hunting lease for this knife. Well worth the money!

Let me start by saying that I'm kind of partial to SOG and Coldsteel, because I believe that you tend to get a fair amount of quality for your buck, from both companies. Having said that, there are plenty of higher quality knives and gadgets on the market.
I am always looking for smart ways to consolidate my everyday carry items, and I thought this would be worth taking a shot on. So far, I'm pleased. But let me qualify that statement. If you usually carry a high end folder, that you could baton with if you had to, and you carry a pocket Streamlight that can light up a city block, then this system is probably not for you. But if you are looking for a medium use blade tool and a light that will have enough power for normal, run of the mill type duties, in one package...then this could be the system for you.
Negatives: it's made in China. At least the blade is. I'm not sure if it's assembled in the US however. The finger guard (forgive my ignorance of knife nomenclature/ I'm far better with firearms) gets in the way, slightly, of one-handed opening. I would prefer a little more protection for the LED's, from bumping and just rattling around in your pocket. Positives: the blade seems to be typical SOG. Decent steel, very snug when in opening position and they always come with very nice edges on them. Has a lanyard hole. Only requires 2 AAA batteries, and not some goofy camera batteries. Although I haven't taken it apart to clean it, it looks like it does so quite easily with allen/hex tools. My favorite thing about this, and it may sound stupid, but it happens with so many pocket flashlights, is that it requires a decent amount of force to turn on the light, making it extremely difficult to turn on by itself in your pocket. Overall, I think it will prove to be another good quality tool/system from SOG.

This is a beautiful knife that doubles as a great LED flashlight. A serious blade, and the handle has a perfect feel, at least for me (I wear men's large or extra large gloves), with just the right heft. Without testing it, and going on SOG's reputation, unlike other specialty knives I've bought for emergency or car use, you feel you could do serious work, or damage, with it. Yet with blade retracted, the 6 LED lights, cleverly positioned on either side of the blade, become a very good flashlight, with of course that same great handle. The 2 batteries, charmingly, are AA, which most people have at hand, and very easily loaded at the base of the handle, where the convenient tactical clicky switch for the light is also very easily accessed. I'm very pleased to have it in my car.

The purchase of this SOG knife was a Christmas gift for a hunter/fisher/outdoorsman. He usually KNOWS what he wants and just gets it. But he didn't know about this LED lighted knife and he LOVES it. The LED lights are recessed in the handle and the on off switch is in the base. It's water proof for at least 30 minutes at 3 feet deep. He can use it to skin a deer in the dark, gut and clean fish and use for general purpose needs while outdoors. it's not bulky or awkward to use. it folds up nicely and fits in a waist attahced case. He is truly very pleased with this purchase! It'

Bought this knife as a present for my knife obsessed boyfriend for valentines day. This is not the first knife I have bought him, and I am sure it will not be the last. Although the knife itself does not have a clip for easy pocket storage, it does come with a case that does have a clip. The flashlight at the end of the knife is very bright, and can definitely be used by itself as a flashlight. The knife is good quality with a nice blade. With the carrying case, this knife is a little too bulky for my boyfriend to carry in his pocket everyday, but it has turned into a nice nightstand/camping knife. All in all, a great knife! Nothing but love from my knife carrying man.

Got this a couple years ago from Amazon. Found out about it on a blog and thought it would be interesting to see if it was any good. I have to admit, I had low expectations that were dashed as soon as I received this knife. It is exceedingly well made and has come in handy for me more times than I can remember. I've seen some reviews saying that the LEDs are poor, but they are actually very good. If you need to see something under the hood of a vehicle or in a footwell, trunk, etc., it is perfect. Walking on a very dark street, the light does not project as far as one would like, but it is not a full-sized flashlight. For what it is, this is a great product.

Carry this with me everyday for about a month now and works great, haven't changed the battery yet, but also don't use the light every day. A little bigger/bulkier than I expected but what do you expect when you have 2 batteries in the handle. Nothing really big and uncomfortable, just bigger than I thought. Would recommend this. The only thing I don't like is that the blade itself does say China on it so does think its the best steal out there, we will see.

A perfect tool

I use a knife about 100 times a day in a warehouse environment, cutting shipping straps and cardboard. The added benefit of having a flashlight makes my life easier. Plus the battery is a standard AAA and easy to find anywhere. The light is very bright and could be used to disorient someone. Would be nice if it had a belt clip, but comes with a sheath that works fine.

Great QCQ Knife for the Dark

Remarkably study for it's size and shape. The light cast from the LED's is pretty bright but somewhat obstructed when the blade is out. Still you couldn't get more clarity in the dark toward what you were cutting if you tried. Great tool for cavers or for people that need to be sure of what they are hacking through in the dark. I wouldn't hesitate to keep one under my pillow either.
