Move along, this isn't the microphone you're looking for

You have one job.

The Tiki blew it and basically is a weird looking USB dongle that doesn't record voices very well. In my experience. I got this thing to use in environments with moderate ambient noise. Fail. No one could hear me. I made some sample recordings and could barely hear myself. I suppose their might be some tweaking to do to get this to work, but at the same time....I really shouldn't need to do that, don't you think?

Anyways, pass on the Tiki, a strangely disappointing dud in the otherwise great Blue lineup

I didn't really think the noise cancellation was good enough for classroom lectures

First, I didn't really think the noise cancellation was good enough for classroom lectures. Secondly, the USB connector end has a rather thick metal covering that seems to overly bend the corresponding outlet end in my Surface Pro 3. I was concerned with it actually breaking off my USB port with repeated insertions and removals. For these reasons, I returned this microphone.

Once I got a non-defective one, it was fantastic

I was terribly disappointed upon my first purchase, as I kept getting "USB Device Not Recognized" on all computers I would plug it into. I contacted Blue and they immediately told me that it was a defective device. I wasn't so sure, but I went ahead and sent it back and got a refund. I bought another one, intent on determining if Blue's support was just lazy, or if they were just that efficient.

Turns out they were spot on! The second device worked right out of the box, and brought clear, high quality audio to my recordings. Kudos to the Blue support team for knowing their devices well! No wasted time, just a perfect resolution.

Almost perfect

The 'natural' listening mode is fairly good, however, when I used it to try and record my audio book it kept missing the first half of every first sentence. It needs noise in order to 'listen' so if you're recording something that requires frequent pauses, it becomes an issue.

When I have it in the other mode that records everything, it does a good job of isolating out the background noises so its' pretty darn good. Not perfect but much better than headphone mic or internal laptop mic.

I've always liked Blue as a company and have used their other products in the past and liked them, but this mic was a no-go for me. It hardly picked up my voice and I had the mic dangling 2 inches from my mouth. Would not recommend, just buy yourself a Blue Snowball (the iCE variant is really good for voice over work!) or the Yeti and don't bother with these cheaper mics.

IT'S MY SMALL BUDGET TOP MIC!
by Vance Thomas (5 out of 5 stars)

The Blue Microphone (TIKI DUAL-MODE COMPACT USB CONDENSER MICROPHONE) can really pick-up the sound from across the room (up to 20ft for me). I don't need the mic for up to 20ft. But, it was really amazing just testing the microphone from areas withing my home while having the mic only on my desk.

The mode for podcast is the only mode my situations surly need. Within a quiet room, the sound recorded really is more than satisfactory. I never used another condenser microphone. TIKI is my first condenser mic ever owned by me. I have many plans to use the microphone within a quiet room with two person podcasting.

My first mic is a good dynamic mic; and I will not trade that mic. However, my second mic (TIKI) is my little-buddy-mic. LOL! I recommend the TIKI for anyone now starting any podcasting in a quiet room and on a small budget.

We tested this microphone among many others supposedly good compact usb microphone
by Sebastien Christian (2 out of 5 stars)

We tested this microphone among many others supposedly good compact usb microphone. This one is not the worse, but considered the price we're not happy with it at all:
- Expensive
- Loose USB connection (very loose on Macbook pro at least) related to the weird open plug design
- Starts in "Voice" mode, and the only way to switch to the "Natural" mode is to firmly press the button, and as the connection is loose you'll lose the USB connection most of the time. If you succeed in that step, and promise you won't move your computer at all, then you have a correct microphone.

Poor sound quality, not worth the bother.
by R. Harmon (2 out of 5 stars)

Might be better than the mic on your laptop, but that's a big maybe. Being physically attached will cause it to get all the same fan-noise that probably interferes with your onboard sound.

Even when connected via clunky usb cord to isolate it from the fan noise, the sound quality is still pretty weak unless it is placed right next to the sound source.

Didn't work at all.

This didn't work at all for me. I plugged it in and the only thing it managed to do was make my voice echo and cut off the sound so that I couldn't even hear the person I was trying to talk to. I don't think I was doing anything wrong. I could have just had a defective one.

Built like a tank
by Rex S (5 out of 5 stars)
March 13, 2014

This thing is made of metal and is built like a tank. Everything about it is rugged and I don't worry about it bouncing around in the bottom of my laptop case. The audio quality is superior to any other mic I have and even from two feet away it picks up my voice clearly and loudly. Highly recommended.
