Good product for the money you

Hi. I expect people to understand. I bought this product on August 7th. After using twice, It stopped working. I called Hamilton beach/Proctor silex to claim the warranty. They ask to pay the UPS posting charge which is 8 dollars. I bought this instrument for 10 $ +. So If i need to claim the warranty, I have to pay close to same amount again to get the Product. Whats the guaranty that it will not stop again.? Extremely dissapointed. Wanted all the customers to know this. Also advise amazon not to sell these low quality products.

Very Basic - As it Should be for this Price
by Robert R. (4 out of 5 stars)

This is an extremely basic mixer. Since I was just going to be doing very light duty things on occasion with it, I opted for it, but it seems somewhat flimsy and not especially powerful in use, and it's also easy to accidentally eject the beaters when changing the speed (you press down on the same button to eject). (After using it awhile this is no longer a problem.)

There's no balloon whisk attachment for getting lots of air into egg whites but I've still managed to make decent souffles with it, and I would never even attempt a heavy dough with this. For the stuff I do use it for though (souffles, custards, creme brulee, and so on), it's not especially fast, not especially powerful, but it does the job well enough (and everything else I can do in my food processor anyway).

Everyone should be realistic. Even $50 to $90 mixers on here have less than stellar reviews. This is for someone on a limited budget or who uses only very occasionally. Anyone who rates it poorly on performance for things like cookie dough or mashed potatoes is totally unrealistic in their expectations of what $15 can buy you nowadays.

Perfect mixer for small, medium, and possibly large kitchen endeavors!
by C. G. (5 out of 5 stars)

I was surpised with how well this handmixer performed for how much it cost. It has just enough power to get the job done. It's not a "high-power" mixer, but it can definitely handle everyday, easy to do mixing like, pancakes, cakes, cookies, etc.

My daughter loves it, and we both tend to use it with this Sagler Set of 3 Mixing Bowls with lids set that we bought off of Amazon a while back. Between the bowls being skid-proof, and the hand mixer working exceptionally well, our baking endeavors have never been better.
**Special note: I'm new-ish to baking, so I don't own any fancy kitchen gadgets insofar as baking goes. So right now, this mixer, spatulas, the mixing bowls, handheld whisks, etc. is all we use to make the things that we want to bake; and so far so good. I've made homemade cakes, cookies, bread, rolls, biscuits, hamburger buns, Italian breadsticks, brownies, bars, and many other things, and this mixer has met our needs :) **

Decent for the dollars..
by Ryan Gonzales (3 out of 5 stars)

I bought this mixer for my wife because at the time we didn't own one. I was looking around online and also at retail stores for cheap hand mixers and the cheapest that I could find was about 20 bucks.. Good ol' Amazon once again came to the rescue!

I recently whipped up some mashed potatoes with this thing, but when the going got tough the cheapness of this mixer started to show through. When I dipped the "beaters" down into the bottom of the bowl, it sounded as if this hand mixer was running out of gas. I'm not sure if it would be able to power through bigger batches of thicker ingredients. Once the potatoes were nice and whipped though it had no problem doing its job.

If you're planning on doing some recreational baking and mixing, then this thing should well suit your needs. If you're planning on mixing concrete, thick mashed potatoes or tar, I would not recommend this mixer.

If you're the average every day consumer though, this mixer would work just fine for you.

Great little powerful hand mixer, made better than they used to be
by sonshines (5 out of 5 stars)

When we moved to our new place, we had to down-size. My old hand mixer got lost in the move. So, imagine my delight to find a small but powerful little mixer. It does not come with any dough hooks or a wisk, but I mostly used the beaters anyway so will not miss those. I love the small size and the power. Great for use with just my husband and I.

5 Speeds- Easy to store- Reliable Brand
by Tonya C (5 out of 5 stars)

I love to cook and would love to be able to own a larger stand mixer, however I have limited space so that is not an option. I have owned this brand of products in the past and have always had good luck with them so I decided to purchase the Proctor Silex Hand Mixer. Its is small enough in size to easily store out of the way under a cabinet or in a larger drawer. A hand mixer is not going to comparable to a larger stand mixer, however this product does what it is meant to do and is comparable to more expensive hand mixers. The beaters are easy to attach and remove from the mixer for cleaning. There are 5 speeds which is more than enough for just about any of your needs. It is a simple, basic mixer at a fraction of the cost of other brands. I am satisfied with my purchase and the brand in general.

Does the job at low cost to me.
by Bryon (4 out of 5 stars)

I paid less than $10 and I haven't had any issues, so I'm happy :) I will update my review if my opinion changes.
- The price is by far the best part (I purchased this when it was on sale for about $8, you just can't beat that)
- Offers 5 speeds, although I'm not sure that makes a difference in it's mixing strength, in fact most of them are quite similar... it's almost like the beater just gets louder instead of faster. For typical day-to-day usage this works just fine though. I generally make my potatoes soft enough BEFORE I whip them so I've had no issues. If you're someone that utilizes all speeds and whips/mixes many textures, some tough, you might want to spend a little more on another mixer. If you don't mind a little more effort and you want to save money then this will do just fine :)
- I like the shape of the beaters and the compact size of the mixer. Easy to store.
- Took me a second to figure out how to release the beaters. It's not a separate button, you need to push down on the dial that also changes the speeds. Be careful.

Low speed is still to fast!

I hoped this mixer would have a lower/slower speed to keep from having to clean up after it slung frosting, etc. around my kitchen, but it is very eager to spread the love, so to speak. The price is great if you just want a mixer and aren't worried about extra work cleaning up after it.

Unplug first, then press the button
by LaVeda D. Hollingsworth (5 out of 5 stars)
January 3, 2018

I love my hand mixer. Its durable, not too heavy, and easy to clean. The only problem I had to figure out when I first used it, was how to pop the beaters out of the mixer. Im pressing on the button to pop them out and nothing is happening, so I decided to unplug the mixer and press the button again, then they popped out. Problem solved, now I unplug first, then press the button.

What is in 5 Stars, that a Beater, at any other Price, would Beat as Well?
by Reid Ballard III (2 out of 5 stars)
July 20, 2019

Shakespeare aside, I'm giving it 2 Stars because it's description is 40% accurate, and it's about what you would expect at this price point, but it's still pretty terrible.

The description says it's "for mixing, stirring, beating and whipping":
- Beating and Whipping, it does reasonably well
- I've burnt the last 2 out trying to Mix and Stir with it: completely wrecked the motor.

The description also claims that it's a 5-speed mixer: if I close my eyes, listen really hard, and add in several tablespoons of imagination, I *think* that it *maybe,* just *might,* *poooosibly* have 5 different speeds instead of just one.

The description says it has a "Bowl Rest stabilizing feature": the spinners sit on the bowl well when you take it out and lean it on the counter.

The description says it's durable: I refer you to the fact that I'm on my 3rd mixer.

But, let's face it, it's $16 bucks and I won't ever try to do anything heavier than extra-softened butter with this ever again, so it should hopefully be worth the money at this point.
