like a laser beam

it is bright and it does as it says it does. however, it's got this crazy focused laser at the focal point of the beam. it's got a very narrow beam and at the center of that very narrow beam it's got an uber bright focused area. seems like it could use a light diffuser to spread some of that light out so the beam isn't so focused. you could shine it on a subject 20 feet away at 50% of it's power is focused into the area of a tennis ball, and the rest of the area is just moderate lighting.

took it camping and wrapped it around a tree about 20 feet away and it lit up the saute pan amazingly well, the grill got a bit of peripheral light and the rest of the table that the grill was sitting on was dim and shadowy, but we could still see.

if you need an ultra-bright laser, this is your flashlight!

I bought this for my husband last year for Christmas based on a co-worker's recommendation. It was a HUGE hit. He uses it for tons of things I never even imagined. Besides the legs being bendy the magnetic feet really come in handy, too. My father-in-law saw it in use and thought it was a great product. So now I'm buying him one for this Christmas. A+ product. Shipped in a small, white non-descript box from seller.

If you like to use both of your hands while working on something in a dark area - this is the flashlight for you. With its magnetic feet it can stay put most anywhere. If there isn't any metal around, the legs configure in so many different ways - it can easily wrap itself around something nearby to place the light beam where you need it most.

I love it - it's even fun to use. I also like the idea that the light swivels too. So there are a great number of configurations you can place this light in. The beam's brightness is adjustable too - which is a huge plus. when you're working on something that is reflective - you can turn the beams brightness down and maximize the life of the battery.

This is so easy to recommend to anyone, my family, my friends, and anyone reading this review. :-)

I am completely thrilled with this light! I purchased it for camping and use in photography (PhotosByPflanz.com) and the dimmer switch is better than expected. This little light for using only 3 AA batteries has the longest distance at full power of any flashlight I have ever owned (4D size battery Mag Light included!!). The only thing stopping this light is obstacles!! The magnetic feet are very powerful and the legs can wrap about anything 3" diameter or less. I have not tested the claim of 23.5 hours battery life on full power but I can confirm that their other claims are 100% accurate! Love this thing!

If Joby made a regular flashlight with this technology (dimmer switch and all) then I would buy several!

I got this as a present for my dad who loves working on cars. I would always help him and hold the light, but get tired eventually and not hold the light steady. Also, if he was in a tight spot, it was hard to help shine a light right where he needed.

But now, I've been replaced by this amazing gorilla torch light! It bends in whatever way he needs, and the magnets in the feet hold onto the car with all it's might. No more wavering light that gets tired! This little buddy simple shines on whenever it's needed. The size is great too since it can fit in a wheel well and shine right on the spot while he's in the same spot working.

This is my 3rd Gorilla Torch and highly recommend them. Have given as a gift. The brightness is pretty good, not high end but certainly better than your average big box light. It is more suited to a "work" light, that is where it really excels. The bendable legs and magnets make it invaluable for awkward positions. This isn't really something I'd carry on a trail hike. Battery life is good as expected, I use Eneloop rechargeables (amazing) so I really don't even think about how fast it runs down, but I don't change them often.

I bought this product as a gift, but my husband has one and has purchased several for gifts also. This is a great product and my husband loves his. You can use it anywhere, and it is so easy, because the legs wrap around anything to hold the light on whatever you want. It also has strong magnets on the legs, so you can use it under a car, etc or stick it wherever onto something metal. Definitely a great purchase, and we will buy again if needed for gifts.

broke after second day of use.

I don't normally write reviews. But I was so upset after this product broke that I felt compelled to. I bought this for my husband as he spends a lot of time restoring an old pick up truck he bought. I thought it would be great for him as it would leave him hands free. On the second day we were using it I just adjusting the angle of the light and the light unit snapped off of the body of the light. 2 DAYS! That's all it lasted. Great idea but definitely needs to be sturdier. You should be allowed to twist it any which way. Would not purchase this again. Will be looking for a similar light that can handle use.

I have other work lights, but this one is my go-to because you can always get it right where you need it, and it's bright. Perfect when working under the sink. Far more useful than a flashlight during power outages. Magnetic feet are super strong. Not sure why you would need the strobe feature, but who knows. Construction and quality are excellent and the LEDs should last for many years. Kind of a gadget, but actually a well-made and surprisingly useful light.

Extremely versatile as far as positioning is concerned - and it stays where you position it. As others have noted the center spot is very bright but can be too small when the light is positioned close to your work. That's the reason for only four stars; I have yet to try the Glad Press'n Seal mentioned in another review as a light diffuser. I have only had this for several weeks so cannot comment on how long it will run on fresh batteries.
