Step2 Corvette Bed with Lights

All I can say about this bed is that we all LOVE it! It is just beautiful! It did take a little more space in my son's room, than I expected, but yet his room is not very big:).We did buy a 6 in mattress also from Amazon, and I think is very comfy also and it doesn't stick out as much out of the bed frame. We did not want to get a 8 in mattress. It was a great ideea to make such a beautiful bed. Our almost 3 year old took his nap with no problems in it 2 hours later after we installed it. He is running to get to bed in it every day. We moved him from a crib directly to this twin bed. It looks very well made, it doesn't look cheap at all. I was really suprised of that. I put a few stickers wrong and I was able to take them off and reposition them corectly, with no problems. Thank you so much for it! Great experience with the packaging and shipping also.

The good: the product came as advertised

The good: the product came as advertised. The pieces were all in tact. Most of the bed is solid: the frame, the wood pieces, the stickers.

The bad: The assembly is terrible. Many of the screw locations were not primed to drill, meaning there was no hole. I had to make a hole myself with a power drill. Also, the wheel wells are fragile, so they bend significantly. Attaching the wheels is a nightmare. I have superglue all over my fingers. Terrible, terrible construction quality.

The Ugly: Because the wheels are so fragile, they wobble, and the bed feels cheaper than it should. The plastic construction could have been half the price. In addition, a single mattress sits on top of the plastic exterior, not the slats (wooden boards), so there is a dip, or gap, between the mattress and the support, which is awkward even for a child. It really is a piece of s***. Honestly, I would not order this again. The lights are a nice touch, but they do not make up for the flimsy materials.

Glad we chose this over other options.

I attribute a huge part of our son's smooth transition into a big boy bed to this bed! It's so very cool looking, who would prefer a crib?! I also like the rounded profile on the side rails, because it makes sitting next to the bed to rub my son's back very comfortable- there has been a number of nights where I fall asleep leaning up against the side rail of the bed. I also love that the lights can be easily unscrewed during actual bedtime (and they are large enough to not be a choking hazard or get lost).
**UPDATE**

Almost a full two years later and this is still going strong. Even the lights still work and haven't been misplaced. It's now being passed down to little brother for his transition from a crib and he's thrilled. My husband reinforced the bed when we moved from a crib mattress to a twin. He took planks and laid them across the width of the bed so that it was like slats- then to each plank he screwed a rod that hangs down to touch the floor (so each "slat" is basically free standing with each end being supported by the plastic frame and the middle being supported by the rod). The boards that came with the bed lie on top of this setup. It only took him an hour or two of work and with this modification, the bed is rock solid- forget the weight limit. Just yesterday I was laying on the bed, reading my son a book, and my husband was sitting on the bed on his laptop and I didn't even think twice about it.

My son loves it; I have a few issues with it, but am still happy with this purchase

I have mixed feelings about this bed because my son loves it SO much; so that mostly makes me love it too. But there are a few issues that I have with it. The main one being that it is quite large! My son has a large bedroom...and it's a good thing bc this bed hogs A LOT of space! You can tell in the picture that the front of the car extends out quite a bit, and the back does a little...so I was expecting that. What I didn't realize is how much the sides bulge out. That makes me not want to put the bed in the corner, where it'd be up against a wall, because it wouldn't look right, and I worry that my son could roll out of bed and get wedged in the crack (he's only 2.5yrs - that wouldn't be such a concern for an older kid).

The side bolsters by the window are nice because they keep my son from falling out of bed, but they make it SOOOO uncomfortable for me to sit on the edge of his bed to soothe him before bed or during the night. They are right where you need to sit and there is no way to avoid them.

My son loves the nightlights and I love that they automatically turn off after ten minutes so that it doesn't waste batteries.

I kind of wish we had gone with a standard bedframe with a headboard because we read in his bed before bedtime and it would be much more comfortable to have a headboard to lean against.

But, when all is said and done...my son loves the bed and is excited to jump into it; so it'll stay!

The bed arrived in a box that was large enough to use as a storm shelter, but the delivery company was polite enough to help me get it inside as I wouldn't have been able to alone. Regarding the bed, it's night one and I just finished putting it together. I got half way through placing the decals on at the end but will have to finish tomorrow when my son isn't jumping on the bed yelling "my bed is so fast". That pretty much sums it up, he loves it. For me, it seems fairly stable. I put it together alone, but in hindsight I would have curbed my enthusiasm and waited to have another adult help me on four of the 29 steps when you have to hold the plastic molds together to insert the screws. However, I made it work by pushing the angles up against the wall and putting a towel between it to create pressure while I drilled in the screws. I wasn't very pleased with the bed when setup for a crib mattress, I felt it was less quality. Once I readjusted to fit it for the twin mattress, I was much more pleased with the outcome. The directions were not in English, but thankfully I've put a lot of beds, toys etc together and was able to work from the pictures. Four sizes of screws and eight washers was all the bed needed to complete, minus the placement of the decals. And I recommend a drill, not a screw driver. The bed seems sturdy, and it looks very cool. A little larger in person than I anticipated (long not tall) All in all, albeit it is day one, I'm happy.

Coolest bed there is? My son thinks so.....

When this bed came out my son was just about to hit 2 and we were in the market for a toddler bed.

Few reasons we liked it off the bat.
1.) It's adjustable. He could start with his crib mattress, and when he outgrows that we can change him to a twin size. This should make this bed last for years while he grows up. Who knows maybe 9-10 and this will still be functional.
2.) How much cooler can it be? He loves the lights in the front. We read his books to him in front of the car each night before he goes to bed.
3.) It's super durable since it's the hard Step2 plastic throughout.

It's a bed first and foremost, so it does what it's intended to do. I am sure any kid would love it, and of course dad does too.

It really looks cool in the middle of his room. I expect it to last a long time, and may even have resale value when the time comes for him to move onto a real bed.

The only bad part about this was the packaging of the stickers that need to go on. They were just thrown in the box in a bag, and had gotten all wrinkled and unusable. A quick call however to Step2 customer support and they sent out a new batch right away. Small inconvenience but the company took care of me.

Price is higher then the little tikes beds, but this is much bigger and definitely looks MUCH nicer. Would recommend to anyone who has a son who is into Cars. We paired the bed with Cars and Cars2 themed items and it matches great.

Worth the Effort
by Andrew Thomas (4 out of 5 stars)

Okay, so pretty cool.

Bought it for my son's 3rd birthday, and he went absolutely bananas over it.

The two LED headlights are a simple "tap-on/off," the decals and stickers are pretty fun to apply, and the whole bed converts to a twin as your child gets older, so you get some longevity out of it.

My only point of concern was the instructions lacking recommendation of proper tools. Personally, I want to meet the guy who can assemble this with just a screwdriver. I highly suggest a battery drill with Phillips head drive.

Aside from that, some of the alignment holes aren't pre-drilled (or even visible on some pieces), so you really have to watch your alignment of the parts as you drill.

Other than the drilling issue, the bed was pretty simple to assemble for two people, and my son's reaction was completely worth the effort.
...now if I can only get him to stop playing with the headlights and go to bed...

Girls like cars too!

My husband insisted in buying this cool bed for our 2-yrs old daughter. I wanted a princess bed but all we could find were the cheap looking plastic ones, which I hated. The beautiful carriage I found was only sold in the UK, and besides costing $300£ they did not ship to the US. So I gave in and let him buy this bed. It was the best way to grt her to a toddler bed coming out of a crib. she lives climbing in and out of bed, went to bed on her own for almost a month, and has enough room for the bunnies and books she brings to bed with her. The hard part was for me to find a girlie-girl decoration for her room that fits with a car. Also, keep in mind it's a big bed (it can become a twin by changing the matress) and takes over half of yhe room space. And as a toddler bed it's hard on the adults back for changing linens or changing diapers, if your kid is still of that age. A bit pricy too, but easy to assemble and maintain.

My grandson loves cars and this was no exception. The baby bed mattress is way too small though and it definitely needs a twin bed mattress. Ro be prepared to put pillows or blankets around the edges to cover the hard surface that is left uncovered by the crib mattress. Overall, it is fairly easy to put together. It took two of us and an electric drill/screwdriver (an absolute must) about an hour +/- to finish it. Directions on where to put the decals would really be helpful.

Fun and different

I was a little cautios at first, but this bed is a majors hit... At first it seemed really big, but we filled it with stuff animals, and now it's a total hit.

Two words of advice, if your child is a roller fill in the edges next to the toodler mattress with blankets, to prevent rolling into the gully. Don't sit in the front end dressing your daughter it is not designed to take parents weight (plastic). You can sleep in it with your child, just stay off the nose.

Easy to assemble and the boxes it comes in are huge.

Visitors really like it... 5,stars!
