The tape itself is a lot finickier than white-out tape and doesn't transfer to paper very smoothly. You have to get the angle and pressure just right, or most of the tape will stay on the roll with only small pieces transferring to the paper. Once it's on the paper, it does a good job of obscuring sensitive information. As another reviewer noted, it does scrape off if you try right after transfer, but that becomes more difficult as time goes on.

I bought this product because everything else I have found so far is wider than I want. But this is inconvenient enough to apply that I can't see buying it again - I'll just get something wider and apply it vertically instead of horizontally.

EDIT: It seems like the difficulty in transferring is temperature related - if we have a warm day, it transfers much more smoothly than on cold days. So sticking the dispenser under my desk lamp for a few minutes before trying to use it helps and makes this less frustrating to use. I have not changed the stars, because finding a work-around doesn't make me more satisfied with this product - I will still try something different when this pack runs out.

The concept behind this product is great. No stamps to fool with or dry out, however, I tried two of these and both of them broke within a short timeframe after I started to use them. First the tape would not come out with the blackout on it but would be clear, so I would have to do several swipes to cover stuff. Then the pointed end breaks. The product is fragile, I've used correction tape in a similar type of applicator with no problems so I am really disappointed that this didn't work out.

Prior to getting this product I purchased a security stamp that rolled out information with permanent black ink. That tool was not useful if you only needed to address one line on a document so I got this. This is not what I wanted because it rolls a piece of tape over the info (like white out strips with the word confidential on it) and the tape can easily peel off or lift off which provides no security at all. I expected this to have ink like the roller tool I have, but it does not and it not useful to me at all.

This will work on uncoated paper that is lying on a hard flat surface like a desk, because we have to be able to maintain even pressure for the tape to dispense. If the surface is uneven, it will apply unevenly. It will not work on anything that is remotely flexible, like my pill bottle--or (heavens), a bag. Even if I try to place my hand behind the bag to offer some resistance, it is a no go. Once applied, it does block out. After it sets, it doesn't rub off.

This does what it's supposed to...when it works smoothly. Sometimes the ink will just roll by and not go onto the paper even though I'm using a flat surface and pressing firmly. Later when the roll is out, I pull the string to get the missed ink, and use my nail to push it onto paper so I can get my money's worth. Allot of ink will be wasted because it's a good amount that just rolls by. Don't think I'd buy again because of this issue.

Love this to use so that I can recycle old mail instead of having to shred or burn it. Just use this similarly to how liquid paper tape is used & it will block out any personal data. You can hold the paper up to a light & not see the personal data through it, and the ink does not scrape or smear off, so it is secure.

OMG this camouflage tape works wonders! It definitely cuts my shredding time in half! It doesn't even scratch off after it is applied (just to be sure), so it is very secure in hiding your personal info.

I loved it so much, I ordered 2 more! One more for me and one for my mom!

I'm kind of disappointed in this product. It does work so I did give 2 stars for that but it doesn't always completely cover information. I'd advise against it personally. Guess I'll go with some white out next time.

I ordered this to try because I've seen so many around the internet and tv. The tape itself doesn't come off easy and you have to really work with it and go over the area multiple times just to have it hide what your wanting his. Not worth the money or the trouble

very difficult to use, especially on mail that isn't flat. unless on completely flat surface i find there is wasted tape because i have to go over the writing again and again. It may eventually do it's job but I prefer the stamp and roller stamp, thought I would love the tape (since I am a huge fan of the white out tape that is in similar design) but it is not love and mostly sits unused!
