So i got the itch to make Churros and found this maker. There's another model that does just the churros but I make empanada's too and figured it would be worth the little extra cost. I've only made the churros so far and they came out pretty good. There's a recipe booklet that has all sorts of versions. The ones I made were the classic ones but in my opinion the ingredients call for way too many eggs (5). They had a very light omelet consistency after they were done. when I make them next i'll cut the eggs down to 3 and see what happens.
As for the maker, it heats up fast and does a good job for the most part. I did notice that the back 2 spots didn't cook as dark as the 2 front spots. So basically there is a little bit of uneven cooking with it. Its not a big deal, but just be aware. What I love most about this maker is that the top and bottom plates can be removed not only for super easy clean-up but also to switch out to either the churro or emanadas. Everything is non stick so don't use any metal utensils or it will scratch it as its not super duper non stick coating. The maker did come with a plastic empanada press that is basically a crimper that you put the dough and your filling in and then close or flip the top to make a seal/crimp.
The only other thing i found on this besides the slight uneven cooking was that in the front where the handle is, there's a clip to lock the maker together. It gets super hot especially when your making churros because the steam blows out from every angle and right in the front where you have to put your fingers to fasten that clip You have to make sure the clip locks or the tops of your churros or empanadas won't cook correctly.
Over all for the price your getting a decent maker that eliminates the need to deep fry your churros or empanadas. Its easy to use and again super easy to clean (once it cools down). It doesn't take up that much space in the closet either. If you are thinking about trying it I say go for it.
Worth getting

Glad we bought this because it makes great churros that are not as greasy or fattening as other methods. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that it's hard to clean. The plates come out but it's still tricky. Despite that, I would recommend it to a friend because the churros and empanadas both turned out delicious.

I didn't like this item because it didn't work the second time we used it. The power light wouldn't turn.

Purchased this as a wedding give but have not heard from the wedded couple. Just moved and not unpacked gifts. I am a big fan of this brand. I have the taco bowl maker and have used it many, many times for taco salad and fried ice cream.
Very happy with the quality.
