Product Description
This ring is based on the original sundial ring Queen Eleanor gave to her husband, Henry II of England in about 1152. On a cloudless day, hold the ring upright aligning one of the 3 reference lines straight up. Rotate the sun dial until the hole is next to the current date (month of the year and beginning/middle/end of the month) A beam of light illuminates the time on an inside clock scale. Calibrate by using the reference line that works with your latitude - northern cities will use a different line than southern ones. The 3 reference lines allow Daylight Savings Time adjustments as well. Made from VERY durable stainless steel, acid etched markings.Features
- Sundial Ring - Tells Time in Multiple Latitudes
- A Modern Vesion of the Aquitaine Sundial - Elegant and Eye Catching
- Can be Worn as a Ring, or on a Chain as a Necklace (not inlcuded)

I got lucky this ring comes in a size 10. I only wear rings on my "ring finger", and this is the size of my right hand ring finger. It is too bad there are only four sizes available. They should make more sizes.
I used a common sense method to calibrate this ring. I dialed the hole in the inner part of the ring to the appropriate part of the calendar, and then let the sun shine through it onto the time pips inside the ring. Then I rotated the whole ring until the sun dot aligned with the time on my wristwatch. This told me which of the three latitude lines was the right one for me to use in the future.
Since I calibrated this about midway through August, I dialed the hole to be midway between August and September.
This is a gadget which does not need batteries or a subscription or a Bluetooth connection. This is old school stuff which is powered by the ancient and awesome physics of the Universe. It just doesn't get any cooler than that.

I bought this for my husband and he absolutely loved it! He is a big camping outdoors kind of guy and was blown away that these existed. He is still getting the hang of using it but told me he thinks they are the handiest sundial he has ever seen!

this thing is very cool.once you learn how to use it ,it can tell Time very well. I can even wear it. I do wish that the outer marks especially the latitude marks were deeper. they seemed to wear off rather quickly if you wear it on a finger. otherwise nice ring

Nicely made. Reasonable price. My astronomy interests couldn't resist this sundial example. To be clear, it's not a precise device for telling solar time, but demonstrates perfectly the variables that apply. Love it. Always starts a conversation.

The slider seems a little flimsy but I have had no issues with it, because the ring itself is thick and very sturdy. Real cute definitely a conversation thing.
