Asobu Tea Party Mug with Stainless Steel Infuser | |||||||||||
| |||||||||||
Product Description
Artistic and graceful, the Tea Party Mug Set is like a teapot in a cup. It has a large infuser basket that holds the tea leaves and a glass lid that keeps the tea warm while it steeps. It is very easy to use: place the infuser basket in the cup, add the tea, the hot water and then the cover. Watch your tea leaves unfold and steep perfectly. As soon as your tea reaches the desired color, you can place the cover upside down and use it as a trivet to hold your infuser while you enjoy your tea. You can always place the infuser basket back and add more water to re-steep your finest teas one or two more times. The high quality and ultra smooth glass will never impart a flavor to your teas either, allowing you to enjoy their true flavor. The teacup is microwave and top rack dishwasher safe. It is perfect for the home or for the office. It is a 3 piece set including the teacup, the fitted stainless-steel infuser chamber and the cover for the teacup.Features
- 12-Ounce capacity
- Removable stainless-steel infuser
- Lid turns into trivet to hold infuser
- Dishwasher and microwavable safe
- Works with loose leaf, tea bags and coarse ground coffee

Nice for home use. I bought one for myself and one for a gift. In a previous review by another consumer she stated it was a very heavy glass and she didnt care for it. I was worried it might be too heavy for the woman whom i purched it ad a gift for as she suffers some physical issues. But after getting my hand on the product I do not feel it is too heavy in comparison to some of those thick bulky coffee mug/tea. Its about the size of a dollar glass is not super thick (not too thin either). I would purchase this again. It was delivered much faster then I expected.
Infuser basket requires very gentle cleaning, but mug is ideal for loose tea as long as infuser hold

Okay, so I bought three of these when amazon had a very brief "prime member" special deal on this mug before Christmas. All three have been in heavy use for about a month now, and I'm totally pleased, although I also can see why other reviewers wouldn't be. The strainer is indeed metal that is separate parts soldered together. (Having looked at a lot of other mug/infuser sets, this seems to be the norm rather than the exception.) Frankly these particular infusers feel especially delicate (i.e. easily breakable) to me, so I've been gently hand-washing them, and only *very* lightly using a small dish brush to get them soapy. To my surprise not one of them has broken yet. I mean, I really am surprised. So hooray -- with useable infuser baskets, these are ultra-functional tea mugs in almost every other way (I just wish they were slightly bigger). The glass is very solid, but is not heavy, and doesn't feel too hot to touch even when boiling water's just been poured in.
I really like clear glass for anything that requires an infuser, because it's great to be able to see what's going on in there. I sometimes use a timer, but more often judge when my tea has steeped enough just based on the color of the water (tea) and the expansion of the leaves. This strainer is pretty fine and does well with most loose teas, although some herbal blends can "dust" -- but I have not had a single stray leaf when using any of about 10 different black teas. Not one. Sometimes very fine strainers don't let the water flow quite enough through the leaves in the basket, but somehow this one doesn't have that problem, so it's pretty perfect. For as long as the infusers hold together, these are really excellent tea mugs, and maybe with consistently delicate washing the strainers will have a long life. (If it's practical for you, I think it helps a lot to make sure you dump out old leaves and rinse the strainer while the leaves are still wet. If they dry in the strainer you have to be much more aggressive when cleaning it.)
Works for me!

I really like this mug. The thickness of the glass seems to hold the heat a bit better than the borosilicate glass mugs I have, and though the body can get pretty warm, the handle does not - the other mugs get way too hot. The strainer is holding up well so far, though it feels flimsy. I don't use the loose-fitting glass lid much, instead I use a silicone lid.
It looks beautiful, and I really like how comfortable it is to hold. I've attached a photo comparing this to a borosilicate mug and a close-up of the strainer.
A great mug with an even better price!

I got this mug for my girlfriend the other day and she loves it.
At first glance and touch, this mug is attractive and and made of a nice quality glass.
I like that this is a clear mug which leads into my review of the infuser. The infuser is intended to add components to your beverage without you worrying about swallowing tea grinds or lemon seeds. The infuser does its job well and I can see that there is minimal residue that enters the glass.
For this product, I'd say the price point is the most attractive feature. This $10 mug would likely sell for about $30 in any retail store. For the money, I think I'll buy a full set for when we have guests. I would definitely recommend to friends and family.
1 1/3 cup of tea is just right for me!

This is the perfect size for me! It holds 1 1/3 cups of liquid with the infuser in the cup. The infuser holes are very tiny and only the powdery tea that you find at the bottom of the tea canister will pass through. Water flows through the infuser easily even with tea leaves in it. From the seller's photo it looks like the infuser is plastic but I am pleasantly surprised that it is stainless steel. The infuser metal is thin but not fragile and it is easy to clean. The glass is thick and sturdy. The lid does not have a seal which is okay with me because it is not a traveling mug. It is convenient that the infuser fits on the up turned lid. I have tested making my whole leaf green tea. The infuser does not have enough room for the leaves to fully unfurl but that doesn't affect the quality of the drink. I did have to dunk the infuser up and down several times like you would do with a tea bag. It is nice to be able to see the color of the tea through the clear glass and know when it is ready for drinking. I have yet to add hot water for the second and third steep which is commonly done for whole leaf green tea. I will update my findings when I do. I love it so much that I will not hesitate to get this as a gift for my fellow tea lovers!

First, let me say I never write reviews this is my very first one. My mug was delivered in less than 24 hours. I order it Thursday afternoon and received it Friday morning. The expected delivery was Saturday, so i was definitely a happy camper. There is a long straight line in the mug I can not tell if it is cracked or if it is the way the mug is designed(I hope it's not a crack). However I made a cup of tea and so far it hasn't been a problem. This isn't exactly a travel mug, but you know how us ladies and maybe even some men, we will find a way to make a source out if everything(no big deal)! The infuser is perfect.. Not too big where you have chunks of loose leaf tea all in your drink. I recommend this mug.

Packed well, arrived as expected.
The only problem is that the metal basket part is not well attached to the metal flange that keeps it at the top of the glass and enables it to be lifted out. It keeps coming apart. If it wasn't for that, I would love this.

I really like these tea cups. They are great quality and work perfectly. My only issues with them is they are kinda small and the lids are not leak proof.

I like the heaviness of the glass but not sure why their were shards of glass in the packaging. I thought my cup and/or lid had been damaged but have yet to find the damage, though I did cut myself on the glass pieces.

I gave this to my Husband for Christmas because he is a tea lover. He loves how it works & said it does a fine job of steeping his tea and keeping it hot for a long time. He has arthritis in his hands and said it was a heavy for him to hold.
