Some Nice Detail, yes, but Flawed & Overpriced.by D. M. Keane (2 out of 5 stars)

I bought this item on sale a few years back; in hindsight, I should have returned it. As already stated, it is not life-size so it needs a proper, preferably elevated & selectively lighted display; it is best presented when you create an environment for it to rear out of so that it appears bigger. While it is a weighty piece with some nice detail, the one I got had a monochromatic, gray skull & the skeleton hand was the same way; I needed to get my acrylic paints out and brush on a thin, off-white glaze in some areas to give it dimension and get it to stand out more. The lantern light is just made-in-china-CRAP, no two ways about it; it eats batteries and then burns out permanently. It would have been so much better to have a small, LED light installed instead of the odd, un-replaceable bulb it came with, or at least to enable access inside the lantern, and provide a holder for one of those battery-operated tea lights. Since the lantern does little to illuminate the figure anyway, it just needs some manner of lighting so that it functions in some capacity. I ended up strategically stringing orange, LED lights w/black cord around the entire figure and placing a small, battery operated LED flashlight-hidden under the area of the skull-so that it would illuminate the face; for now, the lantern just hangs there until I can figure out a way to replace the faulty light. Considering the work involved to improve it and the fact that the lantern ultimately doesn't work, this item has become ridiculously-overpriced, ranging from around $49.00 - $79.00 now; I don't think it is worth more than $15.00 because of the above-mentioned issues. Good concept, but from this and many other similar experiences, I now avoid purchasing anything made in China at all costs. On one vaguely positive note, it is a far better-crafted product than the horrendously tacky, made-in-china trash that Walmart, etc. has been selling for Halloween (& Christmas) for the last several years. These days, I either buy vintage decorations from thrift stores or garage sales, or I make my own.

Gifts & Décor Sinister Skull With Lantern Halloween Party Decoration.
This realistic Halloween decoration has rubber pads on the bottom, so it may have been designed for indoor use, but since it does not have stakes and a chain, you may want to use it outdoors near your steps so that it is less likely to grow legs and disappear. It weighs 3.8 pounds, it is made of polyresin, it is a little smaller than life size, and the light uses two "AA" batteries. Dimensions: 11" W x 6 ½" D x 13" H; lantern: 3" diameter, 6 ¼" H. No sound or movement, lantern light only. Since Halloween is only 2 ½ hours (6:00 - 8:30 PM) battery usage is not a big concern unless you use it inside and leave it on every evening prior to and including Halloween. I haven't used it in the rain, so I do not know if the lantern is waterproof. This decoration doesn't do much, but it is well made and realistic, so I gave it four stars.

Awesome! It was smaller than expected but looks great in my large empty flower pot by the front door. I covered the edges with some dirt and it looks as realistic as a tiny skeleton coming out of the dirt while holding a mini lantern can be expected to look :} This little skeleton is quite sturdy. He managed to make it through our unusually cold and wet New York Halloween season without so much as a scratch on him. I was pleasantly surprised, especially because he spent the entire season uncovered while sitting on a pile of dirt, being completely exposed to the elements. Not to mention the fact that I'm usually the last person on the entire East Coast to remove my decorations! Unfortunately for Mr. Skeleton Skull, that means he also had to endure a few snowstorms. All in all, he fared pretty well. However, I do have one caveat - the Lantern! The lantern is made out of plastic and feels very light and cheap. When compared to the skeleton, it's not nearly as sturdy. My biggest concern with the lantern is how quickly that thing blows through batteries. It eats through 2 AA batteries every 4-6 hours. After about three battery changes I finally learned my lesson. The lantern is removable but I just kept it switched off until Halloween night. Overall though, I'm satisfied with this purchase!

Arrived broken. Completely disappointed.
The base was shattered. It also appears that the lantern is really flimsy and doesn't appear water proof probably would not hold up for out door use.
nice detail

This is a nice detailed piece. Mine was missing the hook that held the lantern on his hand, so I had to rig something up for that, but other then that I like it. It is not life size, I can see how others would prefer it to be, but still has nice detail.

Based on one of the video reviews, I decided to purchase this product. It was everything described. We placed this sinister skeleton in our front yard, in front of an equal size tombstone, and I must say it still gets "lost" in our "cemetery" because of it's size. I agree with all the other reviewers, the light in the lantern only lights up the top of the head and because this lantern is battery driven, if it's left on continuously, the batteries only last a couple days. The coloring on the body & clothes are very good and the quality of the product is equally well-made. I am pleased I purchased this item; however, I think if you had a small yard or this was placed inside for indoor decor, it would be perfect.

This decoration has a lot of detail to it and is well constructed/good quality. This by far is one of my favorite decorations, and makes an excellent window decoration. The only bad part is the lantern that goes through a lot of batteries quickly which has led me to use a small spot light black light to illuminate the decoration.

Not more to add other than I agree with most reviewers. Excellent quality and detail craftsmanship. This decor has good weight to it and has a working light. One thing I will add is to use rechargeable batteries as the light bulb will drain power within the week. I leave mine on for about 4 hours a day. If you like decorating your place early and want this little guy on daily then rechargeables are the way to go. I placed mine on the inside of my bay window which gives the illusion that he's coming up from the floor. Nice addition to my Halloween decorations.
