mini-USB connection disappeared inside the ball the second week I owned this and it quit working, never to return. Wor"‹st $99 investment I ever made and after disassembling the thing to see what makes it tick, it is horribly OVERPRICED!

Not Enough Bang for the Buck

I bought this item as a Christmas gift for my nephew. He used it Christmas morning with his iphone. My nephew asked for this gift and he does like it, but we both feel the sound should be better for the cost of the item.

Lights are cool but speaker is not any louder than whats on phone or kindle. So it is not worth having.

you get what you pay for. its only $120 so the sound is ehh.. and ive only had it for 2 weeks its been giving me a weird feedback when i plug it into my laptop. other then that its a GREAT night light with so-so sound.

Everyone likes a cool party. Lights flashing and the rhythmic sounds of Justin Bieber flowing across the dance floor. * settle down* I was just kidding... not Justin Bieber, I meant something more mature... like the "Fresh Beat Band". Regardless of the music nothing helps a party like lights and a great sounding speaker. Fortunately, the Black Diamond 3 is part of that equation.
I am not going to make the claim that the Black Diamond 3 by Yantouch is powerful speaker, because it is not. However, this does not mean that the Black Diamond 3 is without value because for some applications it is perfect.... college dorm rooms, small apartments or any area that you would like music at a reasonable (i.e. not loud) volume while enjoying a cool light display.

Notes-

Sound Volume - A 6 watt speaker that offer two 1" drivers and one bass port. However, the reality is that the speaker isn't really that loud. Certainly loud enough to be heard (and enjoyed) across a large room, but not loud enough to shake any windows.

Sound Quality - The Black Diamond 3 lacks overall depth, and has very little bass performance. Simply put, the dual " drivers just can not move enough air to be effective in reproducing lower frequencies.

Light Display - Now this is the reason why you buy the Black Diamond 3. There are literally thousands (millions?) of different light displays. Some pulisate with music, other do not... but all are cool. I find that the light displays can be very relaxing

Remote- Do not lose the remote control! There are no "buttons" on the speaker, so everything must be controlled with the remote!

Battery - Does not feature a rechargeable (nor does it claim to) so the speaker will be tethered to a wall outlet.

Other Notes- Please recognize that while the dual drivers are recessed into the speaker they are still exposed, and small fingers can reach them and cause damage.

Final Verdict - While the Black Diamond 3 may not be the perfect speaker for a dance part it is a great speaker for a college dorm room, small apartment, or any place you would like to combine an attractive (and relaxing) LED light display with music (at a reasonable sound volume)

Great speaker with nice light effects

I recently got one of these to use as a speaker with my galaxy s3. After playing a variety of music (classical, pop, rock), the sound quality was good for all three. The light has several modes such as rotating colors or following the frequencies of the music. A lot of devices just use lights as gimmicks, but this one produces interesting light effects that doesn't distract from the music.
It comes with a remote control and there's a slot in the back for it so it won't get easily lost. Music can be streamed from the phone through bluetooth or the headphone port. Both methods worked without flaws. The speaker feels sturdy and just big enough to fit in my hand. Overall a lot of thought has been put into the design of this product and I'm happy to have it on my desk.

Cool Speaker

I am happy with my new speakers, I have two and they replaced my ihome speaker. I love the fact that they are wireless and have a great sound, and when people come over, they are always the topic of discussion because of the cool light features. I have used it so far with my iPad, iPhone and my husband's Samsung Galaxy, and it's so easy to use and the sound is great.
