For Older Children/Adultsby Amazon Customer (4 out of 5 stars)

Okay, these were really fun, they are not for children though. I think the package said that these are for ages 14 (maybe it was 11) and up. The Amazon description it says 5 years and up. So that is a mistake by Amazon or the seller, not Mojang. My husband ended up being the creeper while we were taking out our 5 year old trick or treating; the neighborhood kids loved it! Our kiddo got to wear Steve's head around the house and had a lot of fun with it anyway, but it was not a safe idea for stumbling about the neighborhood in the dark, it is difficult to see.
One problem we had with the product was that the instructions were not clear that the cardboard insert is for the top of your head, not to go around the neck. It was an aha moment when we figured that out, too late for one of them though. They are overpriced, I had originally planned on making one with my son but ran out of time... I guess you'll pay what you'll pay to get the real thing.
It's okay be a square if you want to be "Minecraft guy"

It's pre-printed cardboard but my youngest loves it. He had to be Steve for Halloween. And I was the creeper. Buying at the wrong time cost me premium (double the normal price) but he enjoyed it so it was worth the extra money. Definitely better than we'd have done with DIY. So far, the heads have survived being played with nearly daily. Field of vision is a little narrower than I expected. The location of the eyes was off for both me and my 7 year old (he can nearly wear the same size hat as me: his head is big for his age, mine is on the small end - I'm a short guy). We both used the flats from egg crates (my wife buys 5 dozen at a time and they come in packaged flats). It adjusted the eyes better for each of us and got the head off our shoulders.
Put the head-ring together first, then square up the head and drop the head-ring into it *before* you close the tabs to make the neck hole. Putting them together was a breeze - if you've ever folded cardboard boxed before, you know it's simple. Be gentle and it fits right together.
Fantastic for Minecraft lovers

My 8 year old son loves minecraft and asked to be Steve for Halloween. Seemed simple enough especially with these box heads. We just bought a blue shirt and purple pants and presto... He looked just like Steve. We did have to make a new insert so he could see through the eye holes. The one that came with it was too short but it was made (per product description) for an older child. I knew this might be a problem when I bought it. I just used a shipping box, which luckily was the perfect fit, to make a new one. And the Creeper head was perfect for transforming my husband into another Minecraft classic. These are great and highly recommended.

My kids finally used these for Halloween (purchased 6 months in advance. My kids are 7 and 10. What the item description doesn't state on Amazon (unless I am totally missing it) is that these are for 15 years of age and older. Trying to get these to fit correctly or at least in a way my kids could see out of them took a lot of work and tape. And eventually the bottom folds gave way and would no longer stay folded. However, my kids looked the part. They just had to remove the box so they could walk to the next house and then put it on again. That was a major pain.
These Heads are awesome!!

My boys are 3 & 5, they are obsessed with Minecraft and wanted these for Halloween. I wondered after reading the reviews if I should get these, but they begged and begged. I finally gave in and got them, but when we got them they were huge! My oldest got mad and frustrated, and my youngest kinda figured out if he held it up with both hands that it he could walk around and see. The characters looked great and the packaging was fine, no tears, or anything like that. I tried to come up with something for my boys so they could wear these, but ended up last minute having to buy different costumes which are not cheap. I gave 4 stars b/c they were packaged well, and the product was as described and depicted in picture, but took one off b/c I thought think something should be done so that even little kids can wear this.
Expensive, but gets the reaction you expect...fun!

A little expensive, but it saved me the headache of trying to make myself. Quality is okay, but don't expect them to last the year if your kids play like mine. The inner cardboard holder that rests on your head did not secure these helmets well and the box kept spinning while wearing, which made it tough to see as we trick-or-treated. Eventually my kids gave up and I had to wear it (had to) as we walked around the hood trick-or-treating. Even on me, the helmet spun around too much and made it tough. The look was a hit and I got stopped often for pictures and I hissed a lot to simulate a creeper...got the kids running in fear (for fun).
Totally Awesome!!!!

I could not be happier with these. Yes they are cardboard, but they are still really nicely done, they look perfect...I could not do this on my own. There is a cardboard insert that fits your head inside so it stays in place really well and you can actually see where you are going. We have had these on every one from 5 yrs old to 65 yrs old so far and everybody's had a good time digging! I will absolutely recommend these to any fan of Minecraft.
Look Great!

I purchased this for my son's Minecraft Birthday Party. They were a big hit at the party. My only problem was that I accidentally cut one of the head piece inserts too big so it could only be worn by adults; no children. Follow the directions and you should be fine.
Mobs (of Kids) Chanting "Steve!"

This was easily the best bang for the costume buck I've spent in a long time. Yes, even if they're literally just cardboard, which they are.
For Halloween, I went as Steve and my son as the creeper and I was mobbed by kids chanting "Steve, Steve!" wherever I went. I was asked to pose for "pictures with Steve" about every 20 feet...I knew the game was popular but this was surprising. (My kid actually got a little jealous I was getting all the attention...)
As for it being a big cardboard block -- there's an insert to help keep it on your head, but it's more comfortable and stable if you wear it with a baseball cap smooshed into the insert.
very cool according to my boys

Yes it is quite pricey for a couple cardboard boxes but it's worth it for the "cool" factor. Bought these for my 6 year old son and he loves it. He can't wait to wear it to a couple Halloween events we have coming up. The package says it's recommended for ages 15+ but with a little adjustment it works just fine for my 6 year old. I didn't have to cut the insert, the smallest opening is just right. I taped the insert a little lower so that the eyes lined up. I tried it on myself and it's comfy and spacious.
