Different than any other case...by B. J. (4 out of 5 stars)

This is a real conversation piece. People are fascinated by it.
I love mine, and it's going to be hard to go back to any other case. I haven't had any problems with the zipper. The entire case is very solid, and I have complete confidence that it would protect my ipad in case of drops from just about any practical height. In fact, based on the design, I would actually expect it to protect my ipad even better than typical cases. It feels really good in the hand and looks really nice with without being pretentious.
So why only 4 stars? The cutout around the headphone port occasionally interferes with the plug on some headphones (ones with larger jacks). It just takes a little bit of wiggling to the headphone jack fully seated. Also, depending on how I hold it I occasionally can feel the glue from where some of the seams were stitched together. Really just a minor annoyance that doesn't really mar what is otherwise a really nice product.
My favorite case so far. (Used with an iPad Mini Retina)
Disappointing

Let me start by saying that I am a very happy owner of 3 other Twelve South BookBook cases (for my macbook pro, iPod touch and macBook air), so I ordered a case for my new iPad mini thinking I'd keep everything coordinated. Unfortunately, this case fell short of my expectations. While the exterior of the case remains high quality, and what I've come to expect from Twelve South, the interior was a major let-down. The sleeve they include to house your iPad mini seems to be made of cheap, synthetic material that clashes with the soft suede interior. More to the point, it felt flimsy and did not fit snugly around the iPad. The snaps at the back to secure the sleeve were difficult to undo, and even more difficult to snap back, leading to worries about possible damage to the iPad while you're trying to do either in order to prop it up to a different position. Bottom line: too much fuss and poor quality materials on the interior had me packing it back up to return. I love my other cases from Twelve South, which is why this was so disappointing... I hope they make improvements so I can try again.
Love this BookBook

I was a little concerned about getting the BookBook cover because of all the reviews that said it was cheap, zipper didn't work, felt like cardboard, etc., etc. My wife has a BookBook for her iPhone and she loves it - I based my purchase on her experience rather than the plethora of poor reviews - glad I did because I love this thing. I feel like I'm taking care of my iPad mini now and I don't wince every time I put it down on a table.
The ONLY downside I've found is that there is not a provision for the rear camera lens. I had to swing the iPad loose from the cover and maneuver it into position to take pics. Like most people, I take a lot of pictures with my devices so this was very cumbersome. Yesterday I remedied the situation by cutting a square out of the back cover so that I can take pics without all the crazy gyrations and now I'm perfectly happy with the cover. The iPhone covers have a very professionally done hole for the rear cameras - if the iPad had the same I would give it 5 stars. Alas, I'm taking one back for this small oversight.
Awesome!

We love these cases. We have them on our phones and computers as well. They look great but even better - they feel great in your hand. They are practical and easy to use too. I love that the zippers make everything feel secure and protected. The leather holds together well and stands up to vigorous use. The "stand" that you can make with it is perfect. I really can't say enough good things. If I had to say something negative I guess I would say that with this type of case, if you want to take a photo you have to open it up, unsnap it and you will have the whole case dangling down as you take pictures. However, this would be true with any case of this type - I've had a similar case in vinyl and it was the same deal for photo shooting. (The vinyl case was nice but nowhere nearly as nice as this one!)
Beautiful but could be more functional...

No auto on magnet sewn into this $70 case? Other than that it's a beautifully crafted quality case. It's a lot wider than the iPad mini and takes away some of the compact size advantage though. There is a least an inch to spare on the top and side if you put the mini at a corner. Overall though it's a great case for what it is intended for and as a bonus, everyone thinks I'm reading a book instead of playing on my iPad.
Great look and nice stand

Bought it for mini because I want something with nice stand and doesn't slip when touching the screen. Bought the brown vintage one because I read some review that the red looks cheaply made though I like the red from the pictures better. I love it after I received it. Fits really well, no bubbles, smooth fit. Zippers work great and covers look decent and rich. My sisters love it, too.
Use both the small stand when reading books and when watching movies. Both works great. I don't type with 10 fingers on tablets so I don't know how well the short stand works.
Looks great, unique design

Maybe it's just me but I love this case. It is a little pricey but totally disguises your device. Very unique looking. When at home, it looks great on the end table. The zipper idea is ingenious! Yes, a little difficult to use the rear facing camera but I use my phone for that and the front facing camera works just fine for face time. I would recommend this highly. Whoever it was that got one with the fishy leather smell, mine didn't. Smells like leather. Not the highest quality leather but I didn't pay 200 bucks. I just love this case and can't wait to show it to my friends.
Just great

These are just great. I had purchased one for my laptop and I love that one. So I have experience with these cases. Highly recommend.

Perfect! Protects my Mini and looks nothing like something someone would want to steal. I don't mind if I leave it on my desk at work when I step out of the room for a minute. I've had BookBook covers for my iPad gen 1, 2, 3, and both iPhone versions. I love when the leather starts absorbing oils from your hands and starts to get smooth and glossy. Beautiful covers!
Troubled by the zipper - UPDATE

Update 03/10/2013 : as I hoped the zipper issue was simply from the newness of the cover. It's fully functional now. I can't think of any reason to stop me from recommending this cover.

I love the way this product looks. My ipad mini is all about being the most incredible ereader out there (sorry amazon, I sold off the kindle fire the same day the mini arrived). Since its main function for me is an ereader (with a lot of extra functionality) it was a no brainer when I saw this cover. It looks much better than the photos look. It truly looks like an old beat up (translation: well read and dearly loved) hard cover book. Makes me feel like i picked it up at a used book sale. The fit of the mini in the case is excellent. The materials used in construction just right. But the zipper ... I'm troubled by the zipper. When I fully unzip the cover its difficult to make that last 1/4" of unzipping movement and I have to fiddle with it quite a bit to fully open the cover. I'm concerned the zipper may not hold up over time. Perhaps it's just a matter of breaking the cover in over a few weeks. I'll update this review later with more results. For now I'd absolutely go 5-star for the cover if the zipper didn't trouble me.
