This was bought for my wife's Jeep JL. Needed extra storage space for trail tools and supplies. Fits great and doesn't move anywhere.

SOME THINGS DID GET WET IN VERY HEAVY RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE.

I have had this product for 1 month now and I am having trouble with the plastic channels spreading out and safety catch mechanisms not holding. I had approx 15 lbs of tools in the long center bag, with the straps cinched up tight, but after some bouncing around on rough oilfield roads they fell off and the spring clasp held on till the cloth tab pulled from the bag. I lost $150 worth of tools. I figured it was my fault for putting in too much weight, and called bestop to purchase a new bag and try lightening the load. Bestop said they could not sell the bags individually. also the bags i have left rub against the back window and i am afraid i will scratch the window. I will buy or build a rack for over the tire storage. This bag seems to be for looks and not function.
Unfortunately you can't give a lower rating than one star.

I have owned this carrier for just a little over a year. It's actually the second one I received. The first one I had installed on my spare tire actually broke. The straps that hold one of the side compartments closed ripped. I should have seen it as a sign and just returned it for a refund.
Customer service was excellent and they shipped me out the new one in no time.
Problem 1. it uses a buckle and strap type fitment. Basically that means that it can only get as tight as you can make it without either ripped the straps, or breaking the plastic, and very cheap, buckles. It does get tight enough not to move so long as it is empty. The second you add anything with any weight to it, if it is unbalanced in even the slightest way the carrier rotates almost like the hand of a clock.
Problem 2. As I said, the materials used to make it are substandard. I found it much easier to drill holes through the plastic connector like channels they use and add my own rivets so the compartments wouldn't fall off.
Problem 3. NO UV PROTECTION AT ALL! This is possibly the biggest problem of all. There is no UV type protection or treatment to it whatsoever. So after I figured out it cannot hold my tow straps unless I bought two and put them on opposite sides of the carrier. And after I figured out that it is not waterproof in the least bit. And after I figured out that the straps wouldn't be able to tighten enough to even mimic cutting off blood flow to my hand if I wrapped a rubber band around my wrist. I all but figured out that it is basically just pretty to look at... And even in that it doesn't do so well.
I attempted to use the top straps to clip in a rolled up cloth tarp. I buckled it in and tried to tighten the strap, and, surprise surprise! The sun actually did so much damage to the strap that when I pulled to tighten it, the strap literally disintegrated. It unraveled like a terrible knitted sweater.
This product is both a waste of time, money, and energy. Steer clear.
