This light but tough fine edge utility blade includes a fob for attachment to the zipper of a backpack, seat bag, or coat. The quick-release clip allows for the tool to be easily removed and reattached, and the blade features a frame lock for safety. Having this tool on your pack will get you out of more jams that you’ll be able to count, and even when it’s not in use it just looks damn good.Features
- EVER-READY BLADE: The quick-release clip lets you remove this tool with one hand. When open, a frame lock keeps blade secure, so there’s no wobble when you’re powering through a cut. A built-in fob lets you attach it to the zipper of your jacket or bag.
- EVERY DAY CARRY: Part of Gerber’s Daily Carry collection, this Zip Blade is the bulldog of utility knives. Squat enough to fit in the palm of your hand, it has enough muscle to strip wire, cut cardboard, and slice through toughest of clamshell packaging.
- PREPARED: We know being prepared isn’t a state of being so much as a philosophy. Sometimes the job’s cutting twine or slicing open a box; try those things without a blade enough times and you’ll appreciate the compact efficiency of the GDC Zip Blade.

I'd buy more with no problem whatsoever.by Slim Jim (5 out of 5 stars)

The little bugger is awesome. Mine feels totally solid, works ridiculously great for opening packages and things of that nature. I love having a cutting tool around all the time, even if I forget my every day carry, it's great to have a blade with me.
The small cord to attach it to a zipper or keychain is probably the worst part of it. Just seems so thin it could break fairly easy if something were to get caught or something. But I understand why it is so small so it can fit into zipper holes. Hopefully it will hold up.
I think I will give some of these out as gifts as well. I really like it.
I also have the hex set and the screwdriver set. Those aren't as nice since they have the tool protruding at all times. But this thing folds up great.

After attacking the difficult-to-open packaging...
I checked out the knife. Looked kinda neat, though it's small enough to really only be useful for cutting packaging or small cordage. Still, I was interested in the idea of having a small backup knife on jacket zippers, my pack, etc.
I closed the knife halfway and it caught. Released the liner lock again and it closed the rest of the way...But now will not open unless I pull it out with the pliers of my Victorinox Swisschamp...Which defeats the purpose of it. Maybe the liner lock is just bent too far in.
While figuring out that, I disconnected the zipper connector, put it back onto the little cord and realized that the tiny thread that passes through zipper pulls was severed. Maybe the packaging materials did that during removal.
Either way, I suspect that this would end up falling off whatever it was attached to, eventually, when the super-thin thread that attaches it to the zipper pull fails.
Neat idea, but doesn't hold up to reality. This item just increases my negative opinion of Gerber's quality.
Too small, too poorly made

Great idea for a little knife... Its just that it is very cheaply made, and I don't expect it to last long. The housing is simply bent sheet metal, the locking mechanism is flimsy, and the blade metal... Who really knows? Its doesn't really serve a true purpose as a knife. Its too small to be of any great use. Maybe to cut a box open (tape only), or too cut a thread off your clothes. Save your money and buy something a little better made and more useful.
Useless

My favorite pocket knife for the last 20 years is my Gerber, but this knife is garbage. I broke my short, strong thumb nail off on my first failed attempt to open it. Next I tried using the edge of a coin to pry it open. No dice. Finally I used my trusty Gerber pocket knife to open this ridiculous little blade and it worked. I thought maybe it was just stiff on the initial opening, so I tried opening and closing it several more times. Still, the only way I can get the blade open is by prying at it with a second knife. So that makes it entirely useless. I'm not going to carry two knives around all the time.
So handy, use it daily. Great on key chains (esp. for females).

Love this thing, got one for me, my bf, and my brother. All of us have it on our key chains, you would be surprised how often you will use this thing. Works great for opening packages, cutting strings off clothes, etc; sharp, small blade with sturdy structure. Light weight and easily detaches from the loop for more mobile use. Also ladies, gives some piece of mind having a small blade on you at all times like me. Is a little difficult to open if you do not have nails but you want that in a blade so it does not spontaneously open. Overall, awesome and affordable. Great stocking stuffer or just for no reason at all!

These are great hideaway knives! They are very high quality and sturdy. The blade is thick enough to withstand heavy use and resharpening. By no means is this a disposable knife!!! I have sharpening stones and a leather strop, and with them, my little Gerber's are RAZOR sharp. I carry one on my car's keychain and the other on a bag I use at work. No one has ever noticed them and the ones I've shown are shocked when they see it's a folding knife.
As for TSA, take your chances as you will, but I'm willing to bet if you put this on a jacket and threw it in the bin with some other stuff, they would not catch this.
Great compact knife, useful and safe

This knife is the smallest useful locking blade I have found. It can be used for pretty much anything a small "emergency" knife should do. I really like the fact that it locks compared to the small spiderco bug and other similar sized alternatives. I end up carving little wooden knives and other things from sticks for the kids and it is even able to do this with some concentration.
The only issue I have with it is that the plastic connector seems weak so i put it on my jacket pocket zipper and put the knife inside the pocket as i wouldnt trust it to be just dangling around as I fear it might come off.
I did find the exact same design of knife (and i mean exactly) minus the plastic connector on ebay for 4 dollars. I purchased it for comparison but I have not received that yet, but i suspect that it will perform the same. You can find it by searching for "Tactical Keychain Keyring Mini Pocket knife".
Meh! i mean...yea MEH!

This thing is tiny. Tiny doesn't mean bad but the whole thing is tiny. the blade though makes a very nice package opener which i guess may be its main job...that is if you can get the blade to come out without bending a fingernail. this thing is tight and i don't mean "you're too weak to open a pickle jar" tight, more like we glued this sucka on so you can't open it tight. and its 8 bucks..you know what else is 8 bucks tiny and can be attached to a zipper or loop? (no this isn't a bad dirty joke). My gerber dime..which also has well..a blade and like 8 OTHER THINGS IT CAN DO!
So useful. Want more.

Love this little thing. Was great having a quick access (sharp) blade that can literally be attached to anything. Most recently used it to cut out some moleskin for a blister (couple times a day for several days), cut off itchy shirt tags, trim paracord, cut open some boxes, dig out a splinter... this was all in Bali where it is not exactly encouraged to carry around a full size folder.
Ao handy. Will be gifting a good bit of these little guys.
The locking is a bit stiff, and if you try and yank it open fast you might mess up a nail bit really minimal complaint.
Great knife as long as you don't have to close (or open) it

Other people have mentioned how difficult it is to open - they aren't wrong. The real kicker for me though is that it is so poorly constructed that after about a week of light use (say, five cardboard boxes?) now when I open it, the liner lock extends so far past the blade end that it catches and it literally cannot be disengaged with just my finger. I have to jam a key or screwdriver in there and lever it back over, and it will push back with a snapping sound, because it was poorly measured and manufactured, and is essentially broken. I'll be returning it and buying something else - this time not something made by Gerber.
