Product Description

One Christmas evening, a group of friends set off to enjoy a dinner of celebration at a small country inn nestled in a quiet river town. As they rounded a bend in the road, they saw the small, old-fashioned village decorated for the holidays. The lights, like fairies, glowed and sparkled amid the freshly fallen snow. All evening, the conversation was full of Christmas memories and the visions the tiny town had evoked. Amidst the jovial banter and magical memories, the idea for a lighted Christmas village was born. That spark of an idea became a reality when, in 1976, Department 56 introduced a series of six hand-painted, ceramic buildings. The rest is history.

Okay - so while I do love the Christmas Vacation themed village .... I think Clarks house needs MORE LIGHTS! Boss Shirleys house is actually brighter to Clarks, which duh ..... shouldn't be.... I plan to order extra miniature lights and carefully glue them on the roof, so it's more like the movie.

Disappointed!

Highly disappointing. The quality or Dept 56 items has taken a nose dive. I spent a fortune on this entire village and several pieces have stopped working. I had to return the first house immediately as it didn't light up as it should and began smelling like it was burning inside.

The best Dept. 56 product ever made! I love it! Captures the National Lampoons Christmas Classic amazingly! I wish there were more. Works great.

The Griswold Holiday House

I have been wanting to purchase this product for two years but the reviews were always mixed. I am very happy I finally gave it and bought it. I know there are a few things that are different than the movie but it is not enough to make a difference. The house lights up and is made really well it will be a great addition to our collection. Very pleased.

Lights have 2 modes. All on, or obnoxious flashing. Very funny. You need to get Clark standing out front to truly appreciate the reference to the movie.

Wonderful product! I was initially disappointed because all the lights weren't working but it was due to user error!! There's a button on the back that illuminates the house in three different modes. Can't wait to put it out for Christmas.
