Old 2015 model was awesome -- this new updated version sucks

I purchased the ZMA14 in May 2015. It was awesome. It worked so well in fact I decided to buy another one. This new one -- while it has the exact same name and model number -- is nothing like the model I loved. Some key differences: 1. The length of the back massage is now shorter. It covers much less of the back than before. It also doesn't dig as deeply as the old massager. 2. The neck massager is weaker and angled improperly. The old model's neck massage was super strong and was my favorite part of the massager. I'm very sad it no longer worked the same way. 3. The control is much less intuitive and provides less functionality than before. For example, I used to be able to stop the back massage while still keeping the neck massage going. This new remote doesn't allow for that. 4. For some stupid reason when you turn on the massager, everything is on -- the neck, the back, and the heat. What a waste of electricity and shock to the system. I liked the old way where nothing is turned on automatically. 5. And wow the noise. This model is much noiser than the old model. If you like nice hard massages, I can no longer recommend the ZMA14. However, if you like soft, weak massages you might find this model to be acceptable. I'm really disappointed by this bait-and-switch. It is fine that you changed the product, but at least mention it in your product description. you'are using the same picture as before but it is almost a completely different product. I used to be Zyllion's biggest fan -- I've recommended this massager to tons of people. Zyllion, if you still have the 2015 model please let me know where I can get one! This new one is terrible and I would not recommend to anyone.

Love this Massager!

My husband and I absolutely love this massager! I first bought a different one from a local store that cost over $250 and it did not even come close to comparing to this one. My husband is 6'1" and I am not quite 5' and it works for both of us. I usually put a pillow under me and it's perfect. The massagers in it are very strong and really work your muscles over, especially if you have knots and tense sore muscles in your neck (like me). I would highly recommend this. Oh yea, the heat feels wonderful too. Also, it has a great variety of different settings. You can use the shiatsu or rolling on your back. In the shiatsu mode you can choose from full, upper, lower, or spot. On the rolling mode you can choose full, upper, lower, and change the width of where it hits on your back. On your neck you can change the direction of how it works so it can get the base of your skull in one direction and you can change it to where it gets the top of your shoulders where they meet your neck. Love it!

I paid for expedited shipping (even as a Prime member) because my back was killing me and I was anxious to try this device out. I was not disappointed! I'm the type of person who requires more aggressive therapy, particularly deep tissue massage. The knots and overall pain & tightness in my upper back area - especially around my shoulder blades - can be overwhelming at times. I'm 5'4" and tried this out two different ways: first on a sofa with a reclining feature. I reclined only partially. It was pretty good! The second time I used just a straight back dining chair. Even better! I was able to adjust the roller balls to hit both my neck and shoulder areas as well as the shiatsu feature (you can actually program the roller balls to stay in one place) to hit those super tight knotted areas in and around my shoulder blades. Heaven on earth! Other reviewers were right: this can be a little painful if you're not used to deep tissue work (which is exactly why I ordered it....I wanted something that would really dig into my muscles) but for those of us who find other massagers to be a bit weak for us this one is a perfect option. Although I was a little sore the next day I will say it was a good kind of sore. I have chronic pain in my upper back and neck & shoulder areas due to various accidents (horseback, sports injuries) over the last couple decades with the most recent a few years ago when a woman who was texting and driving veered over the median and into oncoming traffic before colliding with my car. Months of therapy helped but once something like this happens the pain never truly goes completely away. This device was a very worthy purchase for me and if it lasts a year I'll have received my money's worth. In just a few days of use (you don't want to overdo it) I have far less pain than I did before and it will help supplement the actual deep tissue treatments I receive from my massage therapist.

If you're on the fence with this one and are looking for something that will truly "dig deep" then give this one a try.
(I will provide an update if for some reason this fails mechanically before the one year trial I've allotted.)

Excellent unit, great choice of massages, from the butt to the neck with heat. You are able to pick a point ant just massage that area. Have had several massage-rs in the past and this is the best. Very satisfied. 9 months later the neck part of the unit stopped working. I called Zyllion for warranty repairs. There were no questions asked. New unit was sent to me within 5 days with free return shipping label for the malfunctioning massager. Great warranty, exceptional customer service and still great unit that saves you a visit to a chiropractor.

Durable and good quality

My opinion:

I have two massagers, and I've had them for many years. I can't imagine not having them. I spend a good amount of time going to the gym - and I'm a big guy with lots of sore muscles and knots. As such I really depend on my massager. This one is good quality - especially the Shiatsu function and most importantly durable. I had tried a few other massagers before, and none lasted more than a year. I'll be honest - I punish the massagers with how much I use them and my size (6'1 240lbs) so I'm impressed that they just keep working.

Customer service:

Recently the cover on one of them started ripping - understandable considering the heat generated (even without the heat turned on) from the rubbing against clothes. I contacted the Zillion Customer Support and they took care of things immediately. I'm a very content customer.

Cons:

I do wish the neck massager was angled (or something) to get my shoulder muscles and traps better. I have to incline the machine a lot and dig into it to get those somewhat massaged.

Other thoughts:

I consider this massager a good option for those who really need a good, deep massage. I've had guest come over and say it is too hard on them, but then again they have never really had a massage, or they don't regularly do strenuous things that would require a good massage. Other comments that compare it to a massage from a masseuse - give me a break, it's a machine that targets the larger muscles and does its job. In fact, from my experience, this machine is better then a massage from a person (not all) in terms of deep muscle massage - and a heck of a lot cheaper.

Also, I recommend sitting on a pillow when you want it to reach lower in your back, and inclining your seat when you want it to reach higher in your back. I've even put the back of my leg on the neck massager to get the hamstring - it feels great after a heavy workout.

I mainly bought this mainly for shoulder/upper back/neck pain. I am a student constantly reading so my neck takes a toll. This massager has helped me through some tough sore muscle times. I love this thing! The shoulder massager is incredible, but the best part is it's better than the store massager I bought for 250. Definitely worth the buy

Have had this a week, and so far my wife and I both love it. It is a very solid and strong massage. It is not for those looking for a gentle massage. I prefer the shiatsu massage as it hits all spots relevant. I also prefer mid to upper back and the Zyllion does an excellent job. The neck is an effective feature as well providing bidirectional massage option. The heated function is mild but noticeable enough.This is the next best thing to an actual professional massage; that being said I still do her neck and traps, as I can get in there deep and from varying angles, and exert different levels of pressure with my hands, and that sensation just can't be simulated using any machine. So the routine is she uses the Zyllion on her back, bottom and neck, and then I finish her off with a long and deep trap & neck hand massage, which puts her into a deep and happy zone! I recommend this machine 100% based on what we've experienced so far.Time will tell if it will continue to function and the mechanics don't break down. We'll see...

I tried a similar chair style massager at a friend's house recently and loved it, and as I've been experiencing some back pain lately I decided to get one of my own. After some research I decided on this Zyllion massager, and I'm glad I did! It's quite powerful, the settings are easy to figure out, the construction seems very quality, and agew days after ordering I am enjoying having my own home massages. I recommend this massager to anyone seeking relief at home!

UPDATE: I purchased the Zyllion ZMA14 in Oct 2017. It's been a lifesaver for my neck, knotted shoulders, and lower back! I use it everyday after work and several times a day on the weekends. About 2 months ago the seat vibration stopped working and it would make a loud grinding noise when using the neck rollers. Today I contacted Zyllion customer service, explained the issue to the representative, and within 4 minutes was told a replacement would arrive in 2-3 days! 😅 That is amazing customer service! I would not hesitate to purchase any products from this company.

We bought this chair 3 years ago and have used it from time to time. It gives a very deep massage, so if your back is hurting it can be painful at first, but it does help. The best part about Zyllion is that I lost the power cord, went on their website and spoke with customer service about purchasing a replacement cord. They asked for purchase date and info, and then sent me a new cord for free.

I rarely write reviews, but this product and company are worth taking the time to write one. I have purchased other products and the massage pressure is so light, they do no good. I workout daily with heavy weights, so it takes a toll. But this product gets deep into my muscle, providing needed relief.
