Very good and very intimidatingby ██████████████ (5 out of 5 stars)

I had bought this for one major reason, home protection.
It may not be a real gun but it looks like one and when it shoots it's pretty close to it.
We had a brake in last week and when I popped off a few rounds three guys bolted out of here, even the neighbors heard it.
I'm glad I bought this.
Great BB Gun

This gun is fantastic and shoots faster than I had anticipated.
As you can see from my pictures, I shot at a tree from 40 feet away and the BBs penetrated both the bark and underlying wood.
Look and Feel:
This gun is not small by any means. With regard to size it is a true-to-life replica. The weight distribution is located mostly in the handle and allows it to rest comfortably in your hand. Although it does have a fairly noticeable plastic feel, the gun still maintains a solid build and can pass as real.
Accuracy and Power:
I set the gun on a tripod and marked a piece of wood at the point where my sight was aimed. I then shot and marked the point where the BB actually hit in order to measure the drop from different distances. At 40 feet the drop is less than 1/4inch. At 60 feet the drop was measured at 3/4 of an inch. At 80 feet the drop became more prevalent and measured in at a little over 1 and a half inches. At 100 feet the drop was measured as 2 inches, and at that distance the BBs also started to slightly curve with the prevailing wind. I started the test with a full cartridge of CO2.
Lifespan of CO2 cartridge size:
Overall the C02 cartridges offered a steady 90 shots worth of decently accurate trigger pulls. After that the depletion of air became more evident as each shot started to drop more and more. Overall: 90 decently accurate and powerful shots, 40 lob shots, and 10 shots that travel no more than 10 feet. I recorded an average of 150 shots per CO2 cartridge.
Con 1:
This is not a quick pour reload gun. The magazine holds 20 BBs and you have to insert them into the clip one by one. I often find myself spending more time reloading than shooting.
Con 2:
The magazine clip has a tendency to jam. For every 5 magazine loads I would insert I would say 2 of them ended up in a jam. At which point I had to remove the magazine, remove the clogged BB, and reinsert the magazine (sometimes I had to do this 2-3 times until finally the top BB was properly pushed into the chamber).
Be aware!

This is a strong model BB gun, you should be aware that this DOES NOT SHOOT PLASTIC BB's, this one shoots the .177 metal bb's and those can and are lethal, so be very careful they're very dangerous, however very fun, so please buy this with some consideration.
Magazine is the weak link.

When it works, it works great...when it doesn't it's hardly worth it.
I've never owned a self-loading air pistol. I was excited about this one after doing some review checking and watching some YouTubes. The gun itself is reliable and accurate. It's the magazine that I believe is the issue. After about 100 rounds, BB's started prematurely ejecting out of the mag while loading (the mag itself) or while inserting it into the gun. BB's then get stuck (somehow) within the magazine chamber and will then prevent the insertion of the mag into the gun.
I'm hesitant to buy a new magazine and will probably reach out to Umarex to see if they will warranty it.
Outside of that, I like the gun, love the ergonomics of it and like the sites.
UPDATE...08/17. Contacted company. Explained problem. Company website says 48 till replay. It's been 6 weeks. No response. I'll never buy another one from Umarex! Stars reduced to 1.
Good for killing rodents from about 20 feet away.

Great velocity and penetration. I shot a roll of toilet paper with about a 1/4 inch of paper left on the roll. It went completely through both sides and the sites are easy to see and accurate. I am using to kill rats and this is going to turn the tide of war, which I had been losing!

Umarex XBG CO2 Pistol test
Power and penetration of BBs
With a fresh CO2 cartridge I was able to shoot all the way through a steel bean can and a steel soup can. That is pretty strong to go right through steel. I checked the cans with a magnet and they have at least some steel or ferrous content, so they are not wimpy aluminum. Some people say you can get plenty of shots with one CO2 cartridge, making this a real power miser.
Phone book test -Double sided pages so divided by 2 to get these numbers. Divided by two and add 10 or 15 pages for the cardboard cover and target. About 130 pages of denting, tearing. Most BBs were recovered at about 77-80 pages. That's a lot of penetration! Do not shoot anything you do not want to kill!
Handy drop down magazine
The handy drop down magazine is easily accessed on the left side rear of trigger guard. It is a smooth operating, well fitting mag with easy to load features.
Accuracy & sights
The XBG has a long trigger pull which does not make for good accuracy, but the pistol itself is accurate. Due to the long trigger pull I was able to put half of the ten shot string within 1 & 1/2" bullseye at 21 feet and the rest were flyers.
The sights are outlined white dot on post front for easy target acquisition, no rear sight white outline.
Weight
Here is the good part - the XBG only weighs in at 0.9 lbs.. That is light weight enough to take backpacking and jogging without a heavy load. I have one pistol which is a joy to shoot with a really crisp trigger pull and single action too, but it weighs several pounds, something you wouldn't want to carry around.
Safety
The safety is of modern design and disengages the trigger bar action when on. When off the trigger is 'in gear' and it will fire. The gun is very safe and will probably not accidentally fire at all. The trigger is a long pull and has to be deliberately cycled to fire. Unlike some guns which show red when both on safe and off safe, this gun only shows red when ready to fire, otherwise it shows white dot. Some guns only point to safe or fire with the selector. This gun covers the white and shows the red when ready to fire, and covers the red and shows the white when safety is on.
My XBG is fairly new so I have experienced no CO2 leaks at all. I question those folks who have leak problems - did you buy your gun new or second hand? If new in the blister pack, unopened you should not experience problems. If you have leak problems you can buy an inexpensive O-ring kit and it might fix the problem.
All in all I give this pistol 5 stars for power, accuracy, safety, easy to load, and being so lightweight.
I am quite pleased with the double action

I bought this about a month ago and have just had the opportunity to do some firing. I am quite pleased with the double action. It has proven to be reasonably accurate up to 25 feet. The accuracy is probably still good at a further distance but I am still getting used to firing a BB gun. Growing up I always had a BB rifle until we moved to Alaska and I got my first .22 rifle. I like this light weight pistol and plan to carry it on walks to do some plinking. I will and have recommended it to a couple of friends and let them try it out. I'll let others know as the opportunity arises.
One reviewer commented about the difficulty of loading the magazines and I have to agree. I have three magazines and one of them shoves the BBs out the end even before I can get it inserted. I always carefully ease the spring tensioned pin guide down but the BBs just squirt out the end. Perhaps it is just a bad magazine. I bought the two extra and don't know if the bad one is the original that came with the pistol or the two I bought I The two extras are Crossman made. I didn't see any extra magazines of your manufacture listed.
Make sure to order CO2 and ammos

I use to scare off cats and the fox that likes to come into the yard. It's also perfect for those folks that come to the house that you don't want there; just walk out the door with it in your hands- it looks real from a distance. Perfect for those who want protection but don't want an actual gun in the house.
Good for practice, good sights

It's a good value for the price. It's functional, although the final trigger release is way back at the very end of the trigger pull. This can be good (or not) if you are training your trigger pull for smoothness and practicing to fire a real striker fired weapon like a Glock. It's all plastic, I did not know that when I bought it. Still for the price it may suit some, it suits me. I will still use it for aiming accuracy, the sights are not bad, believe it or not, and the long trigger pull overcompensates, requiring more discipline. When it comes to switching to a real gun, this is somewhat good. The "reset" click is fairly noticeable. Glock shooters will know what I mean. It's a UMAREX and I am glad that so far it has not broken, that why I bought it through Amazon. Just be sure to use competition grade bb's. Regular Daisy's have given me many misfires, so many that I thought about getting rid of the gun. With competition grade bb's, not a single one.
