Product Description
Mr.Ghost is an EMF detector for your smartphone. Just plug it in to your smartphone's headphone jack, download the app, and start detecting radiation. The native app currently suports iPhone and iPad and is available for free on the app store under "MrGhost" Download it. Try it. And then order Mr.Ghost. What is EM radiation? Electromagnetic radiation is radiation that includes a broad spectrum of electromagnetic waves, from visible light, to x-rays, to gamma rays and infrared. Mr.Ghost detects a specific type of radiation which is AC electromagnetic fields under 22500hz. It's peak frequency response depends on the type of emitter, but in some cases it can detect fields all the way down to 40hz. You'll find detectable fields coming off TVs, light switches, fluorescent lights, and a variety of other household appliances. They're caused by movement of electrons through wires. When Mr.Ghost is in an EM field, a very small voltage is generated in the antenna, and the audio input on your smart phone picks it up as if it were an audio signal. In fact, if you bring Mr.Ghost near speaker wires, you can sometimes hear what the speaker is playing through the variations in the induced signal. Pretty cool, right? How do I use this? Looking to get started quickly? Plug in your Mr.Ghost device into your headphone/mic jack and start the app. There should be a base amount of static that the device detects. Adjust the sensitivity slider so that base amount varies between 7 and 8. Now, just bring the device near anything you'd like to test for EM radiation. Fluorescent lights are an excellent EM emitter, and good to try so you get the feel for the app. The detection distance for Mr.Ghost depends on the emitter. Many devices require you to be within a few inches, while some users have reported detecting TVs up to 20 feet away. Mr.Ghost has 3 modes. - RMS Power - Gyro Mode - Glow Mode Download the app to try them out!Features

It Works!by The Brof (4 out of 5 stars)

I was leery about this item, but I'm actually impressed with the developer's skills. He's obviously an engineer who put a lot of thought and time into the item and the supporting software.
As to its effectiveness... we're dealing with the paranormal. I don't think it can be measured decisively until its used repeatedly in active situations.
So negative reviews are really unfair... give people and their efforts the benefit of the doubt. Especially given what we're hoping to achieve with this creation.

This was purchased as a gift for a friend that is into anything mysterious, haunted, or freaking with ghosts. I knew she didn't have one & contributed to say she wanted abb ENF detector. I can't honestly say if it works or not because I'm not willing to go it with her to find out. Lol, but I'm sure if there had been a problem she works have voiced that immediately.
I still like it though

I have not had much opportunity to use it for ghost hunting...actually none that hasn't been around electricity. I still like it though. It does show electrical waves and things. I also think the app is a bit too hard to read when all you want to do with it is ghost hunt! However, like I said, I have not taken it out to any non-electrical areas yet, so that would probably make a difference. I have not used it at all in the past year... I do carry it in my purse though just in case I come across an opportune moment!

Got this as a Christmas present for my grandson. His eyes really
lit up when he saw it! Unfortunately he has yet to find a ghost.

It does not pick up microwaves for some reason and app is very glitchy.
It's an antenna.

This is a neat idea with some pretty cool applications in educational demonstrations. There are some low reviews here and it's probably because of a fundamental misunderstanding of what this product is and what it does.
What is it?
It's an antenna.
How does it work?
It sticks right into your audio jack. It takes raw electromagnetic radiation and converts it to electrical signals going into your iPhone without any further processing. You'll notice the maximum frequency is 22.5kHz, which is coincidentally the nyquist frequency of a 44.1kHz analog to digital converter that the iPhone probably uses to convert input from a microphone into a digital signal. Simply put, 22.5kHz is the highest frequency that the iPhone can pick up without introducing error such as incorrectly displaying high frequency data at a low frequency.
What can I use this for?
You can use it to find sources of electromagnetic radiation in your house. Good sources are things like TVs, computer power supplies, refrigerators, air conditioners, light bulbs, washing machines, car electrical systems... Basically any power supply that isn't very well shielded will show up as a big bump on the frequency diagram.
You could theoretically use this device to troubleshoot noisy connections. If you detect a lot of electromagnetic radiation around a VGA cable connecting to a computer monitor for example, then you may want to put a ferrite choke on it to decrease interference.
A better application may be in an educational setting, where with little technical knowledge and a $25 antenna you can visibly demonstrate electromagnetic radiation given off by common devices to a class.
What won't it do?
It won't pick up commercial radio, wifi, cellphones, microwaves, etc. Higher energy radio signals are way above the frequency measurable by the analog to digital converter on the iPhone.
What could I do with it?
If you've got some experience with filters, digital signal processing, electronics, and software development, you could write a program that say took AM radio signals at 20kHz (the kind you'd produce from a simple transmitter/receiver kit that you might use in a class to demonstrate the principles of radio) and actually demodulate the radio signal in software and play the audio back. 20kHz is pretty close to the edge of 22.5kHz but I think you would still be able to pick up the station.
Can I make my own?
Yeah, you could probably build one of these for a few dollars in parts. It wouldn't be pretty, it would just look like a wire hanging out of your iPhone, but whatever.
Can you find ghosts with this?
I'm not an expert on ghosts but if they output electromagnetic radiation between say 40Hz and 22.5kHz then yes, it would be able to detect ghosts.
This can be both good and bad

An interesting device.
I will attempt to give as thorough and accurate a review as possible based on my personal experience.
This thing does read electro-magnetic fields. I used it in a variety of settings and found it to read for the most part.
I did use this for its advertised purposes, however results are inconclusive. Which is no surprise giving the nature of that type of field test. So I will not rate this based on any paranormal investigation results.
Now, something I did noticed during the investigation, is it seems to be limited in a smaller band of frequencies then other devices. Things that would cause readings on a device called a K-2 meter, will not necessarily cause readings on the Mr. Ghost.
This can be both good and bad. While cell phones and walkie talkies can cause readings to spike a K-2, it will not the Mr. Ghost.
However, some things in the buildings we where in, such as the poor wiring running through the floor of one location and the fuse boxes, did not cause a spike in readings in the Mr. Ghost but did light up the k-2 meter. I was a bit, confused by this experience, and a bit disappointed.
Now, I kept the settings in the app, at max sensitivity, but also max offset so it mostly read at 0 when away from known sources of EMR, so that if something did spike it, I knew it was possibly something "unnatural"
One thing that will set the Mr. Ghost off more then anything is florescent lights. During our ghost tour walk, we walked past a gas station with a large florescent sign in the parking lot. From about 30 feet out my readings spiked from 0 up over 100. As I got closer right up to the sign, I was reading over 5000. (Insert DragonBallZ quote here)
So, over all, I'm happy with my purchase. I see myself using this way more for electrical work then ghost hunting. I work more with audio/video equipment, only a casual (more like once a year) ghost chaser. Its interesting to see where some EM fields might be coming from in certain equipment. If it really detects ghosts or not, who knows. Will it detect certain EM fields, yes, no doubt!
I'm very pleased and this works well at detecting high EMF readings

I have found this to be quite accurate in the EMF hot spot areas in my living space. I also have traditional EMF meters and this so far has given me correct readings. You do have to set it up correctly before using, The base reading will be in the 7 - 8 range. This Detector shows my router to be in the 12 range and my TV to be in the 25-30 range. I recommend this detector if you wish to locate areas in your living space that might give off high EMF. The user interface is visually very appealing compared to the traditional EMF meters, and I find this more fun to use. I'm not sure how it will work with finding ghosts, but if the theory that ghosts disrupt electro-magnetic fields is true then this should detect that as well, considering all other EMF sources are eliminated.
On an aesthetic note, I like the black color as it matches well with my iPhone. The antenna is also very sturdy and well constructed. Overall, I'm very pleased.
Fun and really works

Fun to use and it really works, at least at finding EMF's. My only wish is that the app had a feature where a sound would play if a EMF is detected.
Great
