The Satechi Touch USB LED Lamp turns nearly any empty bottle into a table lamp. Rather than throw away empty bottles, simply place the lamp into the opening of a bottle, plug the lamp into a USB port, and touch the silver top of the lamp for an instant environmentally-friendly desk lamp.

Not only does the Satechi Touch USB LED Lamp require you to reuse bottles, the LEDs do not contain any mercury and have a life time of 50,000 hours. The lamp consumes only 1.2 watts, considerably less power than incandescent and fluorescent lamps, making it an environmentally-friendly choice.

The frosted white shade diffuses light, producing a soft glow that creates a comfortable environment that's ideal for bedside or desk use. Turning on and off the lamp simply requires touching the silver disc at the top of the lamp. Since the lamp is lightweight and remains cool to the touch, it can be easily transported to provide light where you need it most.

The simple design and white color of the lamp will fit into any décor, especially combined with the ability to customize the base of the lamp by using your own bottles. Change the bottle to fit your mood or new furniture, showcase a bottle saved from a special occasion, or display your favorite vintage rather than throw it away. In the absence of flowers, the Satechi Touch USB LED Lamp can turn a vase into a lamp.

While the Satechi Touch USB LED Lamp should be cleaned with a slightly damp cloth, it is not waterproof and cannot withstand submersion in water, splashes of water, or damp conditions. Please unplug the lamp before cleaning it to avoid electrical shock.

Chic but broke quick.

I purchased this lamp in 2014. The light is just enough to illuminate my computer desk at night when placed on a clear bottle. It broke soon after receiving it, whereupon I stuffed it in the closet. I should have returned it, but I was being lazy. Anyway, I totally forgot about it until cleaning recently.

When I pulled it out again, I figured there was nothing to lose so I disassembled it. There are four small black screws holding the stalk to the shade. Once the stalk is removed, you'll see the circuit board with four LED lights. The board is held to the shade with another small black screw.

On the top side of the circuit board is a rectangle of wrapped foam. This is the touch switch. Long story short, I drilled a hole through the plastic lampshade where the touch switch would contact the plastic, and through the plastic, the silver foil sticker above. I removed the foil sticker and installed a 3/4" zinc machine screw into the hole so it could touch the foam switch inside.

Now when I touch the screw, the lamp turns on and off. While I like the chic look, the fact that it broke so quickly makes it hard to recommend.

Update July 22, 2017 - I still have this thing, stuck in a bottle and plugged into my PC. It started flickering over the past few months and would turn itself on and off. I opened it again to examine the touch switch. It is a tiny block of foam with a strip of metal wrapped around it. The block is glued to the circuit board. The metal strip was starting to peel off. I shoved a tiny bit of foam weatherstripping into the space between the touch switch and power wires to hold the metal strip in place, and stuffed the circuit board back into its niche. This thing is cute, but the touch switch sure is finicky.

BYOB - Bring Your Own Base

I was looking for a small touch-control lamp that I could have next to my bed, and I decided to give this a try. I was hesitant at first to buy this lamp because it did not include a base, but now I realize that is what makes this design brilliant -- almost any type of container can be used as the base for this lamp (you could even make your own out of wood if desired). I tried several different glass bottles until I found the one I liked best. The lamp seems to work best in a bottle that has a narrow/tapered top -- like a glass soda, wine, or beer bottle. The lamp itself is great, and is the perfect size and brightness to have next to my bed. The touch-control is at the top and is easy to find in the dark. Also, being USB-powered, I was able to plug this into my alarm clock's USB port instead of wasting another outlet... It's a perfect desktop light. I definitely recommend this lamp to anyone who needs a small desktop lamp.

Perfect little light

Bought this for a table light for my dad, who is 86. He was having problems turning on the standard night light ( which was also to bright )

Used with a standard apple usb charger, works great. He picked out his favorite Bottle ( stand ) .

Great product.

Package was very well done and very protective for the travel.

This is the third Satechi product I have purchased. Will continue to buy this brand.

Products may seem a bit expensive, but you really get what you pay for.

USB LED Customizable Ambient Lighting

This USB LED lamp / shade is a great way to create a custom lamp of your design. I paired it with a vintage cobalt blue commemorative bottle and could not be more pleased with the result. The LED bulb is brighter than I expected it to be and provides an ambient glow that is exactly what I was hoping for. The touch sensitive switch is unobtrusive and has been reliable so far.

Unique and a treasured item

I sit at my glass desk and work at my computer day and night and have wished for the perfect amount of soft lighting provided by this durable touch lamp. I put it in a retro soda pop bottle, and it looks great; but you can put it in pretty much any bottle--the opening needed is smaller than the circumference of a dime. Best of all, day and night I can always see my keyboard and can get by with this light alone, which uses a tiny blip of electricity.

It's a neat little light. My husband uses it on his computer desk to see his keyboard on dark days or early mornings and evenings. It is not a good light to read a book by but it's great to walk around your bedroom to see where you're going (so you don't trip over things). It works great with my gold zero solar charger battery, so I can use it in an emergency for light. I can also use it camping in a tent or on a picnic table. I would definitely recommend it.

I didn't think it would be plastic

I should have read more of the details. I didn't realize it would be plastic but I think I will be able to hot glue some fabric. It looks great on my Chianti bottle. The day I received it I was having a party. Just about everyone ask me where I got it. The price was reasonable but I would not pay any more for it than I did. I also like the amount of light it put out, it was just enough to read by without disturbing others in the room. I have had it about a month and use it regularly.

Super cute - but too expensive

I really like this lamp - I put it in a wine bottle beside my bed and use a charger square from an iPod to plug it in (since it only has a USB end). But, $25 is too much for this item that doesn't even have a plug - I like the USB, but it should have a plug end as well. Also, the price should be around $15 with the plug! Its small and doesn't put off much light, so it works nice as a side table by the bed - but wouldn't work for much else.

I bought this lamp for my husband after seeing it on "I Want That". I love it, possibly more than my husband. We've only had it for a few days and it is really neat. Not only does it give off great light, but I love how you can place it in practically any bottle. We currently have it in a vintage Coke bottle and it looks great. Plus, my kids love that you just touch the top and the lamp turns on or off. I hope it lasts a long time, because I know it will get used a lot.

while i cannot speak for this lamp as it is a gift, i can speak on the one i ordered for me a couple of years ago. mine is great! i use it almost every morning. it gives a gentle light. i have used this lamp on a bottle, now a vase. i have my eyes out for a colorful glass item to use it with.

I really like this little lamp! I'm using my favorite growler as the base. The best part is the low energy usage and no heat whatsoever.

I would by another, but they are just a little too expensive for mood lighting/a glorified night light.

The manufacturer should make a rechargeable version so they can be placed anywhere. Why not? It takes up so little energy. I'd also like to see replaceable shades that let off different colors. Aside from the price, 5/5 stars for me.
