smart product and works well to keep algae off but nope. TIme wasted exceeds benefits.

Robo snail is a very cool invention. It works great to keep algae from building up on the glass. Occasionally you will have to clean the bottom two inches of the glass because the robot does not go all the way down to the bottom of the tank and needs that space to turn. However, it is very rare you need to do any cleaning on your display glass. You will have to do maintenance on your robot and make sure the outside of your glass stays dry and clean. Maintenance on the robot involves cleaning the wheels and resetting the robot. This takes a limited amount of time (5 minutes) and I have to do it at lease twice a month. It does beat cleaning algae off the glass especially with a lion fish in the tank. Mine stopped charging because of an apparent short-out that affected the connecters. Customer service was great and I actually spoke to the maker. He sent out a charger within two weeks and when that did not work he sent out a new robot within two weeks. He was very nice about it and concerned that I was happy with the product. The downside of this product is the high cost but calculated with the time it saves you, I rate it 4 stars. The bummer would be if it stopped working in 2 or 3 years and was not covered under warranty and you either start cleaning your glass which would suck or pay of a whole new one. I think the fact that the customer service is micro managed and the owner sends out the appropriate parts verse a new one...I think that perhaps a longer warranty would be warranted. It is a genius product and I would suggest trying it.

I must update my review as of 9/15/2018. The replacements have now failed also. I do not feel comfortable asking for my money back or dealing with replacements pieces again. The last customer experience took to much conversation, emailing, and time although the outcome was desirable enough. Enough time is wasted that I think I prefer to maintain my own algae with magnet pads and a clean up crew. The robosnail takes babysitting and sometimes just doesn't work. Lately mine drives off the edge of my tank falling on the floor. And yes, all my settings are right. I have set it up according to instructions dozens of times since I have had it. Cleaned it every two weeks. This product is too expensive for the level of service and durability it provides. In other words, the juice isn't worth the squeeze. I would by the flipper (magnet) and do the work.

So Far So Good
by Chris (4 out of 5 stars)

I recently received a robosnail for my 210 and have been itching to set it up. I hate dirty glass and dislike cleaning it. I'm lazy. This is the newer one that can handle thicker glass.

Setup:

Not horrible. The dry side drive unit has sensor to tell it where it is on the tank supposedly. As far as I can tell the sensors are actually just little pressure switches on the outer edges that tell it when it has run into something. This means that if your canopy is such that there is a space between the glass and the canopy the pressure switch may not trigger and the robosnail will think that it needs to keep going up, despite the fact that it has hit the canopy and can't go any further. Added some filler strips of wood between the canopy and the glass and it works fine now.

Programing is relatively easy (once I figured out the switch thing) and I will say that once you tell it how far down to go on the glass it gets it. I have mine stop about 3 inches above the sand substrate to avoid the possibility of some grit getting into the scrubber and scratching the glass. Means I'll have to manually clean that area but hey I can deal with that.

It runs once a day based on when it was powered up. That means that if you plug it in at 6am it runs at 6am. That's mildly annoying. I wish it would allow me to set the time instead of having to wait and plug it in. (for instance if I want it to run at 3am I have to get up and plug it in and program etc. I don't want that but still).

The other issue I have is that it only runs once a day. Why? Why can't I tell it how many times a day I want it to run? I realize that if it runs every single day once should be sufficient but what if it isn't? The upshot is you can trigger it manually as many times a day as you want. Nice for showing off to guests etc.

Cleaning Ability.

hmmm. how to address this. I had a weeks worth of algae growth when I plugged this thing in so I could clearly see it doing its job. And it does. It goes up and down and cleans the glass. The problem I'm having is that it misses spots. Specifically lines. My tank has stripes of clean and dirty glass. I think the problem is the amount of growth I have. If the tank had been clean to start with it wouldn't be an issue as it appears to pass over nearly 100% of the glass, it just doesn't have a super effective cleaning surface for built up crud. That means it only cleans where the magnet is strongest/cleaning pad is thickest causing missed areas. I will manually clean the tank and then monitor. If the same areas that are not being cleaned now begin growing algae but the clean areas remain clean we have a problem.

Misc.

Size: This thing is huge. And ugly. it hulks in the upper right corner with a constantly glowing light the size of a stamp on its back just drawing attention to itself. It needs to be smaller and less obtrusive.

Noise: it is loud. I can here its little wheels and gears from another room. It is only once a day but still.

Fish: The fish don't really care. They move away from it but don't seem overly concerned. Some of them follow from a distance and snap at the bits of algae it scrapes off which is funny. I don't have a clean up crew to speak of at this point. I'm mildly concerned that a small snail could become lodged in the scraper and damage my glass but I'm pretty sure it would knock a bigger snail off the glass easily and move on.

Cost: This thing is a bit too expensive for what it does. Knock another $75 off the price and it would be a bit more doable.

All in all I think I like it but time will tell. Longevity and cleaning ability are the biggest concerns. The size/ugly factor is fading as I get used to it and let's be honest I'll put up with the visual disconnect if it keeps the glass clean.

Saves a lot of time.. keeping my tank glass looking nice from algae growth

This little Robot works excellent! If you pay attention to understanding how it operates and set up..the first time I followed the instructions it worked well but when it reached the end of my 200 gallon aquarium it would bump against the edge a few times then rotate up and go to the edge again and repeat.. it finally fell off. I sent a email to the Manufacturer concerned with how to solve it. The Inventor contacted me directly with some suggestions after making sure I programmed it correctly. He explained how it operates. It is supposed to go to the end of the aquarium and once the Robosnail reaches the end the front wheels are supposed to drop off the edge signaling the Robosnail it is at the end and to return to base. My aquarium had a thick bead of silicone inside where I had resealed the tank from a leak. So the inside scuff pad was hitting the silicone not allowing the Robosnail to sense it was at the end. The Manufacturer mentioned that if I had a issue with it he would quickly send me a replacement. After explaining how it works. I said I'll try and set a barrier up to signal the Robosnail to return. All I did was get a 1/4 inch of plastic tubing and stick it with double sided tape on the outside of my aquarium right along the edge down to have the Robosnail bump into it and trip it's switch in front instead. Easy fix and the tubing being black is almost invisible on my aquarium. Now once a day it automatically comes on and cleans my glass. It misses a couple spots minor and I have to wipe along the gravel at times though I have it programmed to go pretty low and touch my coral gravel in my Reef tank. In comparison the back glass of my aquarium is a pain for me to keep up with wiping off algae.. I'm considering buying a second one to use on the back glass of my Reef tank. There is mention of its noisy which it is but I prefer to know when it's working and it doesn't bother me that much since it keeps my glass clean saving me time. I think it is a fantastic invention with excellent support. This is a small Company that certainly back their product and will help with getting yours up and running. Once you understand how it operates it is a time savor. My Wife always comments now how nice our Reef tank stays looking now..yes it only cleans one side but my tank being large enough it makes a difference. Make sure you check your glass thickness.. if yours is 1/2 inch you will need the more expensive one. Mine being only 10 mm thick the $140 one works perfectly and has never fallen off again since I have it programmed correctly. I cannot imagine not having it now.

My new favorite Gadget!!!!!

The AquaGenesis Robosnail is an amazing engineering marvel! I am using this on a curved 92 Corner Aquarium and I must say that it is exceeding my expectations. Programming was easy, and it cleans my glass very well. The fact that it is made of very high quality materials adds to its appeal. Customer Service was the most important aspect I was impressed with. The owner/inventor called me personally to help me with a shipping issue due to an Amazon warehouse deal (missing parts) told me alot about how he stands behind his product!!!!!

Do not buy this product. I have an acrylic 120 Gal tank that is 3/8 in thick. I bought the most expensive version and followed all instructions. Basically the "cleaning pad" is a strip of Velcro. After 3 days of running, I basically had vertical and circular lines of algae on the glass instead of blobs of algae and now my tank is severely scratched across the entire inside surface in the exact patterns that this gigantic robot, which can be heard from next door when it's running, has etched into it. So now I'm looking at having to replace my entire tank or try and purchase a scratch removal kit and spend days trying to buff out the scratches. Seriously upset and will most certainly be returning this terrible product and sincerely hope that no one else has the experience that I have with this thing.

Excellent Customer Service, Great Product!

This operates exactly as advertised and it's a great way to reduce the daily headache of owning an aquarium. I am using this on a semicircle 72 gallon Oceanic. I reached out to the support team for some help because the unit wasn't operating as expected. It isn't designed for a curved glass installation, but the owner called me personally and explained how I could modify the unit slightly to accommodate for the curvature of the glass. He even sent me an email to follow up with a short video showing the modifications. Now it works great and keeps my aquarium clean. Thanks!

Cleanest my glass has ever been,

After reading their warranty info - I built a little trough(little gutter) to my stand to catch the unit if it was ever to fall. Got to keep your glass clean, any spilled water will make it slip. easy to clean. I run it 2 - 3 times a day cause its cool!

Very happy so far. wish they would have customizable covers for it. like nemo or a squid or rc car etc.
