I have bought many of these drives both at Best Buy and through Amazon because I am documenting family history with photos, etc., and give away the flash drives. (I always keep extras on hand.) The last time I ordered these from Amazon two of the six of them were defective. After I had put all of the data on them the sliding cover wouldn't slide back open after I had closed it. I had to force it open with a small tool. I then tried to check to see if they worked, and I could not open the files. It had been over a month since I purchased them, so Amazon couldn't replace them. They suggested I contact the manufacturer which I did. It took some persistence on my part, but someone finally OK'd the exchange. I had to pay for shipping, but they did replace the two faulty drives. I have already used them and given them away. I am now one happy camper again and will buy them again.

I keep all my work from 6 years of engineering on here and still have some space to grow. Also being able to encrypt it means I don't have to worry about my work being stolen if it gets lost. It's a great drive, fast, high capacity, and relatively inexpensive.

I was hoping the entire drive was encrypted and you had to login with a password, this one has a partition that is protected and I find it annoying. I don't recommend.

This device will run on Mac or Windows. The security program resides on the device and is run on the machine to access the files. The encryption is good and unlike some programs on others, it does not require installation on the host machine. The security is tied to Lexar drives though and you cannot use it on other drives though commercial versions are available if needed to do that. The fuel gauge is a nice touch so that you do not have to load the drive to see how full it is but at least can get a rough estimate of whether your files will fit by estimation simply from looking at the gauge and drive size which are both on the drive. It is a pricey but solid drive though I have done no testing of speed and am currently only using it on older USB 2 equipped machines. Highly recommended.
