Dies too fast and doesn't swim wellby Austin Arredondo (1 out of 5 stars)

Overall, I bought this as a semi gag gift for a office co-worker. The bowl was made out of plastic, it wasn't super flimsy however nothing to write home about. Watching the fish swim was some what entertaining, however despite what the box said the fish simply does not dive. Not only that but since bowl has hard corners the fish would just cling to the corner and not move anywhere.
To make matters worse, the fish lasted less than an hour, seriously. Put it in the water, watched it swim came back 30 minutes later and it was no longer swimming.
I understand it's a kid's toy, and I get that it's not expensive. However it really felt like a waste of $15 dollars.
Save yourself your money and buy a real fish bowl

I am surprised that there's not more complaints on the size of the plastic fishbowl. Very overpriced in my opinion. definitely regretting this purchase. I purchased this set plus the seahorse and jelly fish and the bowl is not tall enough for either also they must have magnets inside because once they get near each other they stick together and you have to pull them apart every time.
A product I'd pass on.

Bought this as a starter "pet" for my four year old, to see if he was up to caring for something that could, well, die.
Three ups:
-Bright colors held my child's attention.
-The shark is pretty cool.
-Makes for a really fun bath toy.
Three downs:
-The batteries just don't last. Three battery changes later and it's run for less than six hours. I know, they're watch batteries, but it just doesn't seem worth it.
-The shark I purchased here was broken in the packaging, which had clearly been opened despite ordering a new product.
-The fish only swim straight ahead, not really turning or changing level. Even my one year old niece got bored with it.
Take hope points: I regret this purchase. I had to buy another in a physical store due to a broken product, and even then I feel it wasn't worth it.
Nice Fish and Bowl

My 3 year old grandson wants an aquarium with real fish but mom and dad say no, and they have cats that would get to the fish. So what to do? I spotted the Hexbug Aquabot at the store when I was looking for some Hexbug Nanos for Christmas. So when my grandson asked for fish again, I ordered one for him. He's very happy with his "bug fish". It's nice and easy for him to play with. No on and off switch to fuss with and no leaving it on when it is not in use (it shuts off automatically after five minutes) so the batteries doesn't wear down quickly like with our Nano bugs. My only reservation is that the shut off time can't be changed. It shuts off when you pull it out of the water or after 5 minutes, whichever comes first. It would be nice if it stayed on for a little longer, even 7 or 8 minutes.
Does what it says, kind of boring

For some reason my 4 year old REALLY wanted this for Christmas, so he got it from Santa. First of all, I never looked up the specs because it's just what my son wanted so it didn't matter but this thing is TINY. It comes with a cheesy plastic bowl and it wiggles its little tail to swim, but it isn't very powerful so when it hits the side it gets stuck. My son hasn't played with it much because of this, but he was still happy to get it. It's okay.

My grandson, 4, enjoyed it for a moment, but wanted to hold the fish and pulled the tails off easily and he's not a rough player. As I mentioned when writing about just the fish, if your child is showing interest about little fish, this is a better first try in case they want to hold the fish too. LOL It holds real water and it's nice enough looking, not awesome, but nice enough.

my grandson loves this, he is 9. Arrived Fast and packaged well. Just wish the plastic bowl was larger for fish to swim around in.
Fun, but lacking controls

My son likes to play with this robotic fish. It is striking similar to a real goldfish. My son deducts a star because it lacks any basic controls. You cannot turn it off or on manually. It activates when immersed in water, and goes to sleep after a couple of minutes. You have to remove it from the water and re-immerse it every few minutes.
It works but the bowl is awkward

It works fine but the bowl is almost too deep and not wide enough. There just isn't enough space and it kind of scares the cats as it hits the side over and over. I'm going to try it in the bathtub next but this review is for the listed product, which comes with the bowl. If you can get it for less without the bowl that might be a better option.
Very reasonably priced.

This little orange fish is really very appealing, although it did need a little bit of plasticine to get it to sink enough to swim fully submerged. It's not expected to last very long, but it's fun and my son now has 2 of them to play with. So far we are still on the original batteries too, but I have plenty of spares!
