High Quality, Low Utility
by Lex Luther (2 out of 5 stars)

Overall this is a decent block but I would definitely not purchase this again. Here are the pros and cons of this from my opinion.

Pros:
- The swivel is metal and stays clean, doesn't trap crumbs or other debris from the counter top
- The Block is easy to wipe down
- The craftsmanship is high-quality and the block is very solid

Cons:
-The block isn't balanced right, it leans forward when fully loaded with knives and wont swivel without a cookbook or iPad to act as a counter weight
- It doesn't hold 10 inch knives well as they slightly protrude out (only the top two slots will accept 8 inch knives) The three slots in the middle will have a large portion of 8 inch knives protruding from them. (cutting hazard)
- This block requires a lot of space on your counter to best utilize the swivel feature, its not very compact like other blocks (for those with low cabinet clearance this set has a low presentation and would work in confined spaces of a small kitchen or even a RV or Boat galley.

Nice block.

Came well packed, with cut-foam padding. It's exactly as pictured and described.

There has been some question about sizing. There are obviously two aspects: length and width, on each of four tiers.

Standard kitchen shears should fit in the bottom-most slot, although thicker ones probably will be troublesome.

The bottom knife tier is basically made for steak knives, and that's what I use it for so I can't comment about anything else - but I believe straight-bladed paring knives might fit.

The top tier holds my 10" bread knife, 8" Victorinox chef's knife, and 9" sharpening steel. A longer bread knife (say, 12") would not fit. I'm pretty sure a 10" chef's knife would fit in the wide slot though.

The middle tier is where things get interesting. The 10" bread knife won't really fit in any of the slots due to length but you could probably live with it if you wanted. The 8" chef's knife would fit length-wise, but the wide slot isn't wide enough for it. I have an 8" Paula Deen knife in there now without having to use any butter even.

The Victorinox kitchen knives with Fibrox handles actually aren't very well suited for this block. Their "finger grips" are angled, so they won't "seat" against the block and a small portion of sharpened blade protrudes. Maybe the fancier wood handled ones do better. No matter for me, this does what I want.

The "tablet bench" works exactly like I'd hoped. Previously I would prop my iPad up against the toaster, and somehow the magnetic switch would be triggered and shut the screen off. (very annoying!) I haven't had that problem with the wood block.

Additional: one negative I've noticed since my original review - at least with my "load out" of knives, it's a little tippy toward the front, which is noticeable only when rotating the block around to use the tablet bench. It's not horrible, and I don't feel the need to deduct any stars for it. But depending on your situation you may want to test.

A great knife block!

I looked and looked for a great knife block and finally settled on this one. I'm glad I did! I buy my knives one at a time, as I am very particular about what brand is best for what type of knife. This is a great looking block that fits most standard blades for the different types of kitchen knives. I especially like the flat book/tablet holder on the back. I put my oven mitts there. This block is easy to clean and looks nice on my kitchen counter.

Excellent knife holder!!!!

I love this! I don't know why some people are giving this a bad review. I'm not sure what they expected but it is everything the description claims it is. It is made very well. Yes it is a tiny bit wobbly when it is turned, but of course it's a little wobbly it's full of knives on one side and nothing to balance it on the other side. My tablet fits on it perfectly. It is a little larger than other knive holders, but its suppose to be! I have all of my knives in this holder that were in the original holder i had. It does EXACTLY what it said it would do and for only $50.00!

Fits SOME knifes

I love the swivel function of this block, and the iPad "shelf" is a nice touch since I like to watch YouTube and cook at the same time. However, I have a Victorinox 12" Pro Slicing Knife that won't fit in the block; the dimensions are clearly listed on the website though, so it's really just an "oops" on my part. My Victorinox steak knives, paring knife, bread knife, and sharpening rod fit perfect. It's a beautiful and functional piece for any kitchen.

Poor fit and finish. Low quality. Multiple issues.
by Josh (1 out of 5 stars)

I was not pleased with the fit & finish of this product at all. It seemed very poorly made. Once loaded up with knives it leaned to the front due to the foam pads being used on the bottom, however those couldn't be removed as then metal would scrape against the counter top and potentially scratch it. The bearing on the bottom did not allow the unit to spin freely, this made using the book/tablet holder on the back side a nuisance to use. Lastly, the Swiss Army logo was branded into the front crooked. This was returned. I expect a lot higher quality from Victorinox Swiss Army. This product is damaging their brand image.

Amazing for the home chef

This thing is perfect for us since we utilize one of those subscription based dinner boxes. The recipe card fits perfectly and is super easy for us to read then swivel around and grab another utensil. Smooth movement, sturdy and easy to clean.

It doesn't turn terribly smoothly, even after an application of teflon grease ...
by wait4me (3 out of 5 stars)

The block is decent enough.

In the top row I have my 8" chefs knife and 10" bread knife along with a 10" steel. The second row holds my 7" santoku, 6" chefs knife and rabbit.

The turntable on the bottom is my only real complaint. It doesn't turn terribly smoothly, even after an application of teflon grease into the bearings. Further, the small foam feet applied to the bottom of it don't grip my counter well enough. I found frequently that turning the knife block would just cause the feet to slide rather than the block rotate on the turntable. I wound up ripping off all 4 foam pads and replacing them with 8 rubber pads from Home Depot. This works substantially better. The block also isn't particularly well balanced when filled with knives but without a tablet on the back for a counterweight. It wobbles a bit when trying to rotate it without that additional weight on the back.

The ledge does fit my motorola xoom 10" perfectly which is what I had planned to use on it. I guess I'll just leave it there full time.

Leans forward, doesn't swivel
by Mrs. Reeves (3 out of 5 stars)

They didn't weight it properly and the block leans forward when you have knives in it, and so it doesn't swivel. However, the slots are perfect and I ended up keeping my bread on the back rather than swiveling it for an iPad rest, which is really nice, so it worked out for me. It would be nice if t did what it is supposed to, though.

Not perfect, but still like it enough to keep it.
by Ridonkisizer (5 out of 5 stars)

Very nice block. But, it will not hold a 12" blade (as noted by another reviewer). The longest blade it will accommodate is 10-5/8". Still, i will be keeping it and will modify it with a "collar" for my 12" slicing knife. (No better options currently exist to solve this issue!). Hope photos are helpful!
