Great little science projectby A Mom (5 out of 5 stars)

Ok so maybe "love" isn't the best choice of descriptors for stars, but it WAS pretty neat. My youngest saw owl pellets at a book fair and wanted to buy 1 for $13.. my cheap heart wouldn't go for that so I went to amazon for something a little more reasonable. After forcing my 14 year old to disassemble one with my 9 year old, my 17 year old decided she wasn't too old for them and they all got together and finished off the rest. Nice little education project with just enough gross for the youngest and science for the oldest.
I don't remember what the end count was, but we had several nice skulls and lots of other semi-identifiable bones. Well worth the money and got all my kids together for a few minutes to share a good experience without too much fighting beyond arguments over which small thin bone belonged to which animal. ;)
Awesome experience

I didn't think we would end up being as lucky as we were with all five pellets having a full skull inside, we ordered this as an experiment for homeschool and my kids and I thoroughly enjoyed dissecting these pellets. All had a skull even though 3 were broken but that doesn't reflect the seller, just the owl and it's digestion. Highly suggest this, even if it's just for fun!
Lots of fun and learning with the kids

Lots of fun and learning with the kids. PARENTS: just a bit of advice, Better off doing this outside. We did this at our dinning room table but it was horribly dusty and had to clean and vent the whole room. Other than that it was a blast!! We found multiple skulls which the kids found fascinating!
Lots of bones.

Lots of fun with the grandsons ages eight, nine and 10. Some thought it was gross and one thought it was stinky and wanted to wear a clothespin on his nose 😂(it wasn't really that bad). . One really enjoyed it and wanted to save all the bones. Didn't hold their attention for more than 15 minutes but I think it's worth it. The pellets were not huge but they were the size promised. Fun for a one time experience.
You have to dissect an owl pellet at least once in your life

One was enough for me! We made photo copies of the chart and gave the remainder away to friends. We held onto one...perhaps we will review with this one, 6 months down the road. When we dissected it we used tweezers. We gently tugged at the furry bits in order to uncover the bones. I believe this is what helped keep the skull in tact.
Great group project

I was able to do this with class of 30 fifth graders. Copy bone sorting chart, get some old tweezers, clear plastic gloves, make some paper towel masks and you are ready to go. I used this to demonstrate scientific method and as an interactive writing piece on methods and procedures.
Fun and educational

My kids really enjoyed finding each bone and matching it to the included chart. Very well packaged and educationally fun.
and the kids very much enjoyed dissecting them

Mixed feelings.
The owl pellets were smaller than I had realized, being around the size of a golf ball.
However, they served their purpose, and the kids very much enjoyed dissecting them.
I would recommend soaking the pellets for a minute or so before starting to make it easier to dissect.
Good value
