Husband Saved the Day...by Hermione (2 out of 5 stars)

Okay, this is a frustrating review to write. First, I will say that this product as-is is complete crap. When it arrived, the box (not the packaging, but the actual box the product was in) was smashed, broken, and had holes. The launcher itself is cheap and flimsy. When put together, it falls over and won't shoot rockets straight up... the base will not stay together... it definitely wouldn't stay up in the grass (which is where you want to use it the most). The rockets were okay, but the little red pieces at the end kept coming off. They did light up nicely, so that was a plus. But overall, I was furious when I opened it (2 days before my nephew's birthday!). What a rip off!
The reason I am giving it 2-stars instead of 1... my husband, who is very handy, fixed this thing with PVC pipe and made it really awesome. He threw the base away and put the blue tubing through PVC pipe with the plastic launcher piece you stomp on sticking out the end. Then, he put the black part of it where the rocket goes sticking up out of another connected piece of PVC pipe. He screwed it all together and made it really sturdy. Once he fixed it, we gave it to my nephew for his 5th birthday and it was a total hit! He absolutely loved it, and the rockets shot HIGH! His 2 1/2-year-old brother even loved trying to jump on the launcher and shoot up the rockets. This toy was definitely the hit of the party.
Overall, don't buy this product unless you have someone very handy who can make it usable. If you don't, AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS!
On a side note, I think we deserve a refund for having to BUY pieces to fix it... if that happens, I will post an update.

I waited a bit to see if this would hold up to use. The little guy has loved this right out of the box, and were it not for the flimsy launch stand, it would get 5 stars. The stomp pad works well, and the rockets fly quite a ways. The foam pad on the tips make the game of "lets see if I can hit you" less troublesome (he's a 6-year old boy, after all), assuming there's some distance involved, because the rocket moves pretty quickly After a bit of practice, he was able to get the rockets to fly quite high, and was able to be reasonably accurate with it. He got one of the rockets stuck in a tree, high enough to really cause some problems getting it down, which seemed to add to the impressive nature of the toy.
The launcher stand, however, is pretty pitiful. its way too flexible, and it falls apart. It is easily reassembled, and he loves it anyway, but it is a detractor from the awesomeness of the rest of it. I'm going to replace it with something more substantial once I have some time free on a weekend.
Left really disappointed!

I really wanted my kid to love this Christmas gift after I read tons of great reviews, but I was left feeling disappointed. First off, two of the led rockets never lit-up...no biggie, my real complaint is that the "stand or launch pad" is a terrible design. It does not work unless another person is holding it down the stand meanwhile your child exerts his weight on the stomp section (pink rectangle). I know this is coming off probably a little confusing or hard to follow, but trust me when I say I don't write many reviews unless I feel it could help you save your money or spend it wisely. I personally regretted this purchase and would not be able to recommend it to others. From reading all the other reviews, I thought this gift would be a stand out winner, most played with gift, I couldn't have been more wrong. It truly sits unused due to poor design. Hope that helps.
Failure to launch

Pro: The rockets look really cool when used at night.
Cons: Really weak support stand falls over really easily. Rockets do not go very far when launched. My 8 year old son was throwing the rockets up by hand higher than I could launch them with the provided launcher. I weight 180 lbs and was jumping and stomping down at the same time as hard as I could. Rockets would only go about 25-30 ft in the air. I ended up just holding the launch tube so that my 4 year old could launch the rockets. They went about 35-40 ft total horizontal distance if I keep the angle just right.
The rockets are fun the but the launcher is a bummer

This is a cool concept and the rockets are awesome and my kids have fun playing with those. The stomp box works and launches the rockets pretty high, I'd say 25ft on average. The tripod that holds up the launch tube is useless though. Its way too weak to hold up the rocket and keep it anywhere near pointing up. So most of the time we just hold the tube with our hands and stomp with our feet. Going to have to build a better stand.....
Too heavy for 7 year old tykes.

We have purchased 4 sets of the original stomp rockets Stomp Rocket Super High Performance Stomp Rocket
. With the family flying to the West Coast to spend some time together, I wanted to try these glowing LED Stomp Rockets, since I was not sure that the full effects of #Fukushima would have us glowing (yet) on the West Coast and it IS hard to see the originals at night.
Grandkids AND adults enjoyed them immensely when Grumpa would jump up 2 feet high and land on the launch pod with BOTH feet - the achieved height was about what could be accomplished with the original stomp rockets and a single foot stomp. However, the grand kids (ages 6 & 8) could only launch these LED ones 20-40 feet high. It was just an OK experience compared to the originals, which both kids could probably launch 100'+ in altitude.
Tried to teach them the trick of jumping up and landing with both feet on the launch bag, but in 30 degree wet weather (the northwest, mon) everything was a bit challenging in terms of safety - so unlike the originals on which I could hardly ever wangle a turn, with these LEDs, the cry was "Your turn, Grumpa!"
We still had fun, but I would say order the original and add your own tiny LEDs.
On a positive note - the LEDs in these units are very bright and impressive when you happen to get right under the rocket at night. Very nice effect!
A caution for battery life is to shelve them after playing to make sure they are not being used later on as "flashlights" or "night lights." In a brightly lit room it can be hard to see that they have been left on if they are near puddles of sunshine falling on the floor.
Dollar Store Quality Toy

This thing is a piece of junk. The stand is flimsy plastic that will not stay together and once the rocket is on it it will not stand straight. So, it takes one person to hold the launcher upright and another one to stomp it. And, this thing does not even go 50 feet in the air, let alone 150 feet. This is a dollar store quality toy and not worth $20.
worth every dollar

took this to my daughter's house in Texas for Christmas. her 2 boys and husband just loved it. got some great slo-mo video. not near any kind of quality material but that's what made it so fun. if it gets chewed up or lost on the rooftop, not much lost. buy it again! loads of fun.
Great fun, but could use a sturdier design

These rockets are tons of fun. Bought them for my 2 yr old nephew. Unfortunately, he is a little too light to stomp on the launcher, but he will get it soon enough. My only complaint about this toy is the poor design of the launching stand. It is somewhat flimsy, only being held together by 2 angled pieces of plastic that are suppose to snap together. However, when you load on the rocket, the wait becomes too heavy for the plastic pieces and the launching stand falls over. It is best to have someone stand there and hold it together while another steps on the launcher. Besides this small design flaw, the rockets are great fun!
Very bright light and can shoot in any direction!

These rockets are tons of fun. I bought these about a week ago and am thrilled. You can hold the rockets in whatever direction you wish and it will shoot fine. You do not even need to attach the base. The rockets go furthest when shooting straight up. Small kids can easily shoot it 30 feet-adults can propel it much further. I am using these like a cannon and they do not hurt whatsoever. The LED is super bright. The rockets will not last a super long time, but at this price I think it was a very worthwhile purchase.
