Quite sweet for a bacon spread. True jam.

What could be better than bacon? Jam with bacon in it? Possibly. Thus ran my line of thought when I ran into this item on Amazon. I've tried the original, and the red pepper and garlic. What sounded like a brilliant idea fell short on execution, according to my taste buds. Somehow I expected a savory spreadable with lots of bacon flavor. Instead, what you have is jam... yes, sweet jam, with lots of bacon bits in it - enough, as one reviewer mentioned, to produce a bit of grease at the top. I'm fine with that, spread it on hot bread, and it dissolves. The original is simply too sweet to be of any interest at all to me. It does however, serve as a lovely addition to bbq sauce, either store bought or home made. The red pepper and garlic is a bit more savory, but still too sweet for my tastes. I expect I'll be making a lot of bbq in the coming months until I've used this up. Straight on bread or as a spread on a sandwich? Not for me.

I confess I had certain expectations when I bought the jam. The reason I like bacon is for the smokey salty flavor that it delivers. At breakfast bacon provides a crunchy texture in contrast to soft eggs and toast as well as the salty taste to offset sweet cereals, fruits, and jellies. On a burger, it provides a savory balance against sweet ketchup and fresh lettuce and tomato. I expected the jam to perform the same function.

I was disappointed. I put the jam on a burger along with American cheese and mayonnaise. The result was a very sweet burger. The bacon jam was very maple forward with a very mild smokey undertone. The bacon flavor was there, but it was almost like it was an after thought. The bacon flavor was secondary to the flavor of maple syrup.

There are people who like maple bacon, and those people will probably love this jam. However if you're looking for a condiment that delivers a real bacon punch, this is not it.

These are the best thing in the world! As a home cook, I'm always looking for different ideas. I sampled these at a Bacon Festival and bought the set of 3. When I ran out, I was happy to see them being sold on Amazon. Original, Black Pepper and Chili flavors any type of meat. Quick dinner idea - saute shrimp till pink, add a couple tablespoons of the Red Chili Bacon Jam until it's heated and coats the shrimp, serve over pasta.

Pretty disappointed here. I was at one of my favorite restaurants when I tried some bacon jam and so I decided to go find me some to try at home. Not the best idea. This does not taste very good at all.

The product also came broken, with one glass jar shattered, so I only got to try two of the flavors.

Three flavors of jam, with just enough bacon in each mix, and the flavors were light, but you could still pick them out. I used some as a cracker spread, mixed with cream cheese, during Christmas, and people got a kick out of them. So they did the job.

I have become a slave to Bacon Jam. I have it. I have bought it for others. They are now buying it and sending it to others.

Best ever: Pimento cheese with bacon jam, thinly sliced red onion on toasted, crusty artisanal bread of your choice - I went with rosemary.

I bought these for my husband as a Valentines Day gift (we both have a bacon addiction and he rather likes interesting jams) and these are DELICIOUS! They also came to my house rather quick, so that was wonderful as well.

We made sandwiches using the garlic one, a baguette, smoked Gouda, and deli meats (toasted), and it was pure heaven in every bite.

I bought this for my husband for Christmas because he loves all things bacon. I'm not as huge of a fan of bacon, but I ate most of this. I actually ate pretty much all of it. It was so good. I'll be buying more.

2 of the 3 jams arrived in leaking jars. no obvious break, but bacon jam congealed around the edges of the jars. so i don't feel safe trying those. the only one that survived was the original flavor. will let you know how that one turns out.

Bought this for a man who is one of those super hard to buy for guys. Have never had him comment on a gift before, but he actually told me that he liked this one! Says it's DELICIOUS!
